SONE
Hot on the trail of Fake Santa the group crashed into some sort of nightmare realm! We spotted the sleigh flying down a black stone road flanked by tall dirty dark buildings all with hard edges and accented by shiny chrome sills, foggy glass and peculiar demonic and monstrous artworks. The smelled acrid with a hint burning oil and the Sphinxes there were... frightening! May had monstrous traits like great demonic horns or fanged maws and most were dressed in various leathers spiked and studded with silver and emblazoned with weird arcane symbols and phrases. Several of the pallid Sphinxes looked almost undead though a closer look showed they wore face paint and other decor to create the effect as if looking like a corpse was a style! Even with all of these insane features what was the most distracting was the NOISE. NOISE! NOISE! NOISE! Heavy symphonic music blasted from windows and from magical devices carried by Sphinxes. It seemed that everyone had their favorites but no one agreed on just what to listen to so there was an endless loop of music cranked up higher and higher creating a mind crushing din.
There was no time for sightseeing though as we raced in pursuit of the Goblin and Sleigh. As he raced down the street he continued to blast locals with festive magic causing many to rage at the insult to their style! Some dramatically ripped the festive gear away and stomped on it while some cursed the Goblin in unforgettably creative language. A few even threw things at the Goblin but the majority of the Sphinxes simply turned up their music and went about their day. Seeing us right behind him the Goblin took a bold turn and flew into a building knocking down a line of eager looking monster locals. With no time to spare we followed to the loud complaints of the people from the line!
The group burst into a massive amphitheatre where some sort of violent concert was taking place! As with most of this world, there was way to much to look at and not enough time but our focus kept us on the chase. The Goblin raced the sleigh strait towards the stage were there seemed to be two different bands playing two different loud songs the same time while another trio of Sphinxes were involved in some kind of brutal duel in the center of the stage. Non in our group had seen anything like it to make a comparison or know exactly what was going on.
Running out of places to go, the Goblin opened another portal just as we jumped up onto the stage. Curiously neither band stopped playing as if chaos was just something that happened here sometimes, though many prepared by flashing weapons or taking different combat metal poses if we got to close to them. Two Sphinxes who seemed unimpressed by being interrupted by the Goblin simply grabbed their guitars, wielded them like weapons and leapt through the portal even before we did!

Mr. Pooka created the world setting of Sone. (Pronounced 'soh-n') He ran an entire adventure path there and it was a BLAST! One of the best adventure paths I've ever played, including many published ones. I mean, I found it right up there with Storm King's Thunder it was so good!
It's an awesome setting, all heavy metal in a modern fantasy world. Even the history he put into it, like how millennia ago (I think that's how long?) gods of Heavy Metal showed up to a typical D&D like world and taught them their music and lifestyle. XD
The 'Battle of the Bands' were extra interesting. O.o
