Within Lamoria word was spreading that a new Shadow Lord had usurped a barony.
The former Shadow Lord of the domain led a demonic cult.
The local villagers were unable to trust their neighbors knowing anybody could be a hidden cult member.
The people lived in terror of the hidden cult and their demonic minions.... until the Blackmoons destroyed the cult.
At first the family was viewed as heroic but after they moved into the estate their undead nature was revealed.
Thus far the Blackmoons have been exceptionally friendly and welcoming which stirs up even more suspicion and fear.
Only three things were known about the Blackmoons:
The unrevealed new Lord of the domain is a member of that family.
Many members of the family are undead,
and at the moment they were...

Resumes   Curious about the job listing you approach the Blackmoon Estate and are greeted at the doorway by the twins who look exuberant. Despite their pleased expressions they speak in a calm and nearly cold tone. Caerdwyn & Gwendolyn: "Salutations." Caerdwyn: "Are you here for a job? We are looking for minions... Gwendolyn: "Employees." Caerdwyn: "Yes, employees for the Blackmoon Shadow Lord's new domain." Gwendolyn: "We have quite a few jobs open and are happy to try and work with you to fill them." Caerdwyn & Gwendolyn: "Please, feel free to enter." ~*~ With the usurpation of a Lamorian domain the Blackmoon family are looking for minions ... employees to aid them. There are many positions that they could use skilled sphinxes to fill. Examples of appropriate jobs are: gravedigging, kidnapping meals (preferably those deserve such a fate), thwarting pesky adventurers and angry mobs (such a pain), representatives to speak with the locals on their behalf (or sow dread and fear if the first option doesn't work out), mentors for newly raised undead, re-animators (preferably for the willing), mad scientists, etc., etc. You get the idea. Sinister outfits provided!The Blackmoon patriarch and matriarch forbid devil/demon worship in the family, so it's a good idea to avoid anything demonology. (the Game)Write a resume for your sphinx! You may use any resume format you wish. Fill it in as if it's your sphinx detailing the job they want, skills they have, previous employment, references, etc. You may try for any job you wish that would fall into level 3 or lower. This will be for an already existing job, but you may request custom job titles. Ie. alchemist as 'mad scientist' etc. We shall be looking for theme/Lamoria/gallows humor/gothic appropriate resumes. Along with your resume please include the sphinx who is submitting the resume for a job and if they will be getting an alt cert. We will choose at least one sphinx who submits a resume for a job upgrade. Everybody who enters will be randomized for somebody to win... You have until November 4th to PM your resumes to Mr. Pooka with the title "Resume". |

Engrave Your Own Tombstone Applicants for jobs are free to roam the estate's grounds while waiting for interviews. Posted here and there were signs that read Beware of Everything. While meandering you come across an old graveyard where a terrifying undead knight is taking charcoal rubbings of tombstones.
Contrary to her appearance she pauses her work and perks right up to greet you in a jovial tone.Deyendalla: "Hello! I'm Deyendalla, but friends call me 'Dee Dee'. You can call me that too if you like." She smiles brightly with a hint of mania in her eyes. "Ooo, are you admiring the graveyard? There's old mausoleums here too... so exciting. We're getting rid of some of the old bodies to replace them with our own. 'Out with the old and in with the new' they say. But for the moment I'm taking rubbings of the headstones to catalogue them for when they're moved... so we remember who were here." "Speaking of tombstones... I don't know about you, but I had my tombstone pre-made. It was a gift for my Death Day celebration. Hmmm? 'What's that' you ask? It's just a family tradition, maybe I'll tell you more about it later on, or even show you! But for now how about I give you a bit of a gift? I'm having some new tombstones added for the future and if you like you may have one of your very own." She cocks her head when you ask why. "Why? Well in case you don't make it through the interviews. But of course everybody can be found useful, even if they wind up disposed of. So just in case, let's pick out a plot for you." 'Dee Dee' grins with seemingly genuine joy, her fangs showing. ~*~
(The Game)A simple enough game. Take the picture below and decorate it as a tombstone for one of your sphinxes (or yourself if you feel rather morbid). Feel free to draw and colour outside the lines or even alter the tombstone. You can re-size the image if you like, or keep it at the original size. Jpg versionPng versionWe are looking for creativity, not nessicarily skill. Our favourite will win... Everybody who enters will be randomized for one of two prizes. 1 person will 'win' a hand of darkness contract (which kills one of your sphinxes) and a cup of blood (that turns a dead sphinx into a vampire). (Why the vampire upgrade? Deyendella is hungry and at least one hapless sphinx won't make it out of the graveyard alive.) 3 winners will receive a tombstone item.  To enter post your completed tombstone in the thread with the title "InLovingMemory". (larger font, and bold. If you make a mistake repost, don't edit.) Dinnertime While awaiting your turn for an interview with the Blackmoons you are approached by an imposing sphinx in an executioner's mask who is carrying a terrifying axe over her shoulder. Like many of the Blackmoon family her tone and smile are contradictorily friendly as she greets those gathered.
Leara Blackmoon: "Hello! I'm guessing you're all here waiting for an interview? It's going to be a long wait and I could use your help. Of course I'll put in a good word for you if you aid me in this task and make sure that you don't miss your interview." "What do I need help with? Well some of my family have specific 'dietary' needs and I'm one of the family tasked with acquiring it. Typically it's criminals who were being sent to the chopping block but desperate times and all that." she sighs "I need to head out into the local barony to find 'food' and would prefer if we can find those that others would be happy to see gone." ((OOC: Leara isn't typically the type to catch random lone sphinxes for this job. She really does focus on criminals to be executed or evil members of society that nobody will miss at all. But for game RP purposes I'm stretching it a bit. ^^; ) ~*~ (the Game)This will be a game to catch hapless sphinxes. Occasionally I'll show a sphinx with the phrase "This one looks tasty." and a number. Everybody then has up to 5 minutes to make one d20 roll and get that number or higher. The first person to succeed wins that sphinx. (Because it escaped.) If nobody succeeds the sphinx will be caught and 'vanished', but it may show up again at some other point... somehow. |

Occult Implements
(Scavenger Hunt)
While wandering the grounds (as those invited to the estate are free to do) you come across a dark and gothic looking gazebo. Sitting within a young adult Blackmoon who has laid out a plethora of gothic items before her... a skull, tarot cards, fortune telling bones, bejeweled dagger, a bottle that looks like it has a screaming spirit inside, etc.
She seems to be lost in thought as if deeply contemplating the objects and barely notices your approach. She bids you to come closer.Xylia Blackmoon: "Hello. You seem curious about my little collection of foci. You see, I need them for my magic, I draw upon the innate magic of the items. I'm always looking for something else to add to my collection. If you can find the items on my list I would be happy to compensate you somehow. Maybe with one of my extra items, or maybe with a quick bite." she smirks. ~*~ (the Game)This will be a photo scavenger hunt for dark and gothy items. Take a photo (with your username and "Blackmoon Rising' on a piece of paper) of each of the following... (These may be real or fake, but photos of images of the items will not suffice. ex. no drawn skulls, pictures of a crystal ball on a book cover, etc.) 1. A skull 2. tarot cards 3. fangs (ex: plastic fangs, fangs on your cat, a plushie with big fangs, etc) 4. ornate dagger 5. empty wine bottle 6. bone 7. goblet 8. doll (not a plushie... a doll. Rag dolls count.) 9. crystal 10. (wild card) Any sort of dark and gothy item you wish. Post them in the thread with the title "OccultImplements" (in bold and larger) The first person to post them all correctly will win their choice of... a skull, cards, ouija board, voodoo doll, dagger, wine bottles, goblet, or a werewolf bite. (A werewolf bite comes from Xylia and will be a (non howling) wolf coloured like your choice of sphinx as an alt form and their cert will have 'were' added to it.) Tools for the JobThe Nightwatch frequently found themselves curbed, blocked and repelled from the resources they needed to fight the darkness in Lamoria. Some domains carry bounties on the Nightwatch and other varying punishments for helping them in any way. Sphinxes had gone to the gallows simply for rumors of any association. Of course there were always some willing to risk it...
With supplies in short demand it often fell upon the Nightwatch to find or craft their own supplies though many arrived at their lodge with something to fight the darkness... rare was the Sphinx who just woke up one day and decided they wanted to risk their lives to fight monsters... no, most found there way to this life by already having crossed paths with the demons, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, hags and other unspeakable horrors that plagued these lands.
Would you be prepared if a monster came for you? ------------------------------------------ Tools for the JobCraft, create or show off you monster hunting collection. Post a picture with your username (or a Sphinx Characters name, like say Mr. Ito's Vampire hunting kit instead of Mr. Pooka) that contains your finest monster hunting gear! You are welcome/encouraged to add a list or roleplaying description with your post to illustrate just what you've got and/or why it's in your kit. (maybe even a story to help?) Please post your picture in this thread before the end of November 3rd. Some pre-emptive answers... the items do not have to be real but could be... for example a cool bottle that you list as holy water is fine and no one while know if your bowl of oregano is actually ground wolfsbane, or a toy sword that might be a holy relic of a great Vampire Hunting line! While the items may be fictional this contest is specifically for a picture you take. Once the time limit is over I will post a voting thread and allow anyone/everyone to vote on which kit looks the best! The winner of the vote will win the boy above. Everyone else who enters will also be entered into a draw for a Nightwatch job upgrade. Out with the Old and in with the New!  Gravedigger: Now that the Lady Deyendella has finished collecting her mementos it's time for us to get to work. I've been informed that the past owners of these lands were corrupted via deals with devils and demons... tsk. tsk. tsk... so I bear no bad feelings concerning tonight's job. We're going to be clearing out this old cemetery, cleaning it up and purging it of any lingering infernal connections... as well as some general tidying and prep work before we move in the New residents. My Cairn Hills crew has already disinterred beloved Blackmoon's who will be making the journey to Lamoria and they are now restlessly awaiting reinterment in their new resting places. Best not keep their souls waiting to long... T he Grave digger looks off into the distance and shudders as if struck by a chill before looking back to the motley crew of helpers.
Gravedigger: As most of you are not qualified as official certified Gravediggers I'm afraid to tell you that there will be no payment for todays work. That being said, hard work will look good on your resumes and there are those who are dying to get my personal references. I've also been informed that if you happen to find anything interesting while we dig up the last residents you're welcome to keep whatever trinkets or tools that are salvageable. Lets dig in... ------------------------------------- The game... This is a simple numbered search game. Nothing respawns so once a number has been searched there's no reason to search it again. Everyone may search one grave per hour. (per clock hour, so searching at 9:59 and 10:01 would be fine.) Post the number you are searching along with the phrase 'Graveyard Smash' in this thread. All searches may only be made between the hours of 8 PM and 6 AM. (feel free to check either of the clocks on the front page of this thread if you are in a diff time zone.) ...The Gravedigger supervisor only likes to work at night for reasons best not asked... Prizes!This is mostly a clean up job... not really a treasure hunt! There are a few prizes to be found in these graves though... The person who finds the most 'things' in the graveyard after all of the numbers have been searched will win the Gravedigger above! (ties will be determined by random dice roll) Anyone who searches at least six empty graves in a row (no prizes) will be entered into a draw for a Gravedigger Job upgrade! (some of this game may happen when I'm afk or sleeping, but please feel free to keep searching and I'll award prizes when I not sleeping, (-8)  (just for ref... this contest was posted here at 6:49 PM, Oct 28th)
