{OOC: This thread is mainly for Aloli and Atha to meet, but anyone is welcome to come in and join these lovely ladies.}The grass tickled her legs as the colorful female Sphinx made her way to the section of the park that was dappled with shade. Her hair was tossed from side to side on as the warm breeze which smelled so very much like the sweets that were sold in the market place, and she breathed it in with delight. She look it as an good omen and stopped, taking a glittering pack from her shoulder and untwisted a network of strings. With a flourish, the pack unraveled and took the shape of a mat. After the she smoothed the mat flat upon the grass , the jingle and jangle of finger cymbals met the breeze as the Sphinx strung them onto her delicate paws. Testing the soft music of the cymbals, she glanced at the cat that was settling itself in a nearby patch of grass. "What do you think, Femi? Is this a good spot?" The cat yawned lazily and curled up into a ball to nap. It's owner laughed and turned her attention to her mat. Standing up upon her back legs and stretching, the female jumped onto it with a graceful hop. Her movements started out slow, with her legs and arms waving out and spiraling with the gentle spinning of her body. She seemed to be warming herself, allowing her muscles to grow lose before testing them. But soon, her spirals flowing into leaps and thrusts as the cymbals upon her fingers began to sing. She stepped forward and back, moving her hips as her stomach seemed to start a dance of its own. As the dancer grew faster and more daring, those lazing about the park began to stop and stare at the display. Never had they seen such a wonderment, if that's what you could call it. Some wrinkled their noses in distaste as others whooped and clapped along to the rhythm of her dancing feet. Fewer still tossed coins on the top of the mat, watching their donation jump up and down the young Sphinx hopped from one end to another. After a time, the music of her fingers and the dancing of her feet stopped. The Sphinx bowed, and was given a polite bought of clapping and some cheers. She smiled and nodded at her admirers before reaching down to collect the coins that she had scattered across the surface of the mat. As the crowd went back to its business, Aloli the dancer seated herself in the grass and took a paw to her forehead. "My, I haven't had that much fun in a while. What do you think, Femi? Was I good?" The cat continued to purr in its sleep. Aloli laughed, then frowned as her stomach growled. She looked down to the coins in her other hand and licked her lips. "We might just have to keep these, Femi. If I keep ignoring my stomach for any longer it might be angry enough to start hurting my dancing."

Calmly the colorfull sphinx tiptoed over the grassfields, a small pouch carefully held in her mouth as she walked. She kept her vieuw distant, seeming to think and ponder on the things she shouldn't forget. She then paused in her pace, her ears twitching and turning as she could hear a sound delivered on the wind. A tune she quiet fancied, her curiousity got the better of her as she went to investigate. Soon her eyes took place on a display she could not believe. Such a gracefull dancer, here in the park to the common eye? She stared in awe, subconsciently comparing her own limited dancing skills to the gorgeuos purple sphinx dancing far ahead of her. She stood there, watching to the very end untill she just merely could clap, sadened as the performance ended. "wouw" she tought to herself. "I wish I could dance like that, I am sure I would do alot better with such grace and moves." Her toughts wandered further as she wailed a little in self pity. Watching the stranger from afar in admiration till she caught herself in the act. Shaking her head she mentally told herself wrong to act so stupid.

Aloli's ear's twitched as she thought she heard the sound of moaning. Tail flicking she looked all around her, her digits nervous clinking the cymbals. She scanned the park, ears and eyes strained. Suddenly, the sound stopped and she frowned. "I know that I didn't make that up..." she mumbled.
She looked back to the park, fumbling with the strings that kept the instruments to her paws. Suddenly, her eyes fell upon another Sphinx who looked somewhat miserable. For a moment, Aloli studied the pretty splatters all along her body. 'Such a lovely shade of color...'
Taking a brief time to put the cymbals and coins into a purse by her side, Aloli went bounding through the grass towards the unhappy looking girl. "Hello there!" she called, stopped uncomfortably close to the other. "Where you watching my dance, friend? Did you like it? Or was I that bad that I made you sad? Those stomach movement can be a bit strange looking, some people don't like them. I have other dances, you know. I could do them. Or, oh dear, am I being selfish? I suppose it could have been someone other then me that made you sad. Maye you're not sad at all, and your ears are just droopy..."
Aloli prattled on, her mouth seeming to have an endless supply of words as she tried to list the number of problems the stranger could have. Her tail waved back and worth frantically, trying to keep up with the energy of her one-sided conversation. After a time, Femi the cat let out a low meow. Aloli blinked and looked to the other Sphinx. "Have I been rambling? I'm sorry, I do that so much. Just can't control my mouth, I suppose. That's why dancing is so wonderful. Let's you use all that extra energy! But, I've been so very, very rude. My name is Aloli, what's yours?"

Atha jumped back a little when the stranger came so close all of a sudden, her frantic manners scared her a moment. The feeling did not settle as she spoke in a manner fitting to her energetic behavior. Atha could hardly make out what she was saying at all! uncomfortable with this sudden change of events she got less and less secure. The underbreaking of the cat was very welcome, springing Atha back out of her downfalling couradge, skipping back in it when the girl seemed to contineu her fast paced conversation. But when she eventually ended with a question, Atha felt relieved. Yet, seemed to be stuck in that feeling a while. Hesitating long before finally answering with a stutter. "o-oh .. my name is .. uh ... Atha .... Atha is my name"

"Atha?" Aloli smiled, her ears perking forward in delight. "That's such a lovely name! Well, all names are lovely, but I do so ever love names that start with 'A', don't you?"
She stared at the other Sphinx, leaning in just a bit closer. "So, my dear Atha, was it you who made that terribly lonely sound? I don't mean to pry, but I hate to see anyone unhappy? Is there something I can do to help you? Do another dance, perhaps?"
Femi cracked open an eye and meowed again. Aloli turned back and glared at her. "Oh, shush! No one is asking you!"

Atha responded with a nerveuos expression and a lean backwords when Aloli came closer. She blushed when she mentioned what might have been her. She blushed in response and got a bit more uncomfortable and uncerten, even more then she already was. She then watched with relief when Femi delivered some distraction, allowing her to let out a long breath as the attention was not put on her. She pondered about the questions, then peered at Aloli half side glanced. "I .. just ... tought you'r dance moves where .. unique. I am just starting to practise." She diverted her eyes to anywhere but Aloli, looking people in the eyes was not her strong feat when she did not feel secure enough.

((I hope you don't mind my posting)) Chigaru watched quietly from the sidelines as two Dancers talked, a jug in his mouth. Setting it down gently, he shifted slightly and sat down, watching them with a curious expression on his face. The scribe he worked for had sent him to get water, but he didn't need it right away. His tail twitched slightly, brushing the grass and making his spine stiffen for an instant. Then, he relaxed again, curling his tail around his body in an almost protective gesture. The two dancers seemed to not know each other, though he didn't understand quite what was going on. After all, he couldn't hear them from where he was sitting. He started to wonder if he should get back, but the thought was quickly chased away. These two were much more interesting, and he wasn't in a hurry for once.

Aloli made a clapping motion with her hands when she heard the joyous news, matching the home-made bracelets on her paws jingle. "Oh, are you a dancer too? That's lovely! How long have you been practicing? A year, more? I started when I was young, but that wasn't entirely by my own choosing, but never mind that." She waved her paw dismissively. "What matters is that... oh dear... what were you saying?"
The dancer put a paw to her head and scratched. Then, like a sudden strike of lightening, her memory seemed to come back to her. "Oh yes, you commented on my dancing! Unique, did you say? I suppose it would look a bit strange to someone who didn't know the style. It's a type of dance that my "people", as you might say, are quite known for. I think some of the people around here call it "belly dancing", or something of the sort."
While Aloli prepared to tell what she considered her new best friend all about her people, the Roma, Femi opened her eye and kept it on the male looming in the distance. There was no meow or sound of acknowledgment, merely the uncomfortable, unblinking gaze of curious feline.

Chigaru noticed that a cat, presumably owned by one of the two dancers, was staring at him, and his gaze shifted to it for a moment before it went back to the Sphinxes. He could feel the cat's gaze, but it didn't bother him. He was used to being stared at whenever he went to visit his brother, Anhur. Chigaru rolled his shoulders slightly so as to relax more, and noted that the darker of the two seemed to be excited about something. Or maybe the was confused. Perhaps both. The instant his mind considered that she was confused, it started listing other words for it. Confuzzled, baffled, muddled, befuddled, - he stopped himself, and went back to watching them, unsure if he should approach or not.

"I .. I havent been .. dancing all that long yet ... maybe a month or 2. You dance so well .. you surely must have practsied for years already, it shows. ... I .. have never seen a belly dancer before either. I am .. just from a simple family" The sphinx replies shyly, trying to sound clear as best as she can with her shaky voice.

"Two months, eh?" Aloli replied, her cat-like face curling up into a grin. "Oh, you must be having so much fun! I know I was when I was little and beginning to dance. Well, not beginning. My family would always get up and dance... or would they? Hmmm... Oh well, what matters is that they probably did. I come from a clan of Roma, you know. Or gypsies, as some call them. Don't remember much about them, mainly smells and sounds and dreams."
Aloli gave a happy sigh, something flickering in her eyes. Perhaps a memory. "In any case, my dancing comes from what I remember from them and what the dancing troupe I trained with taught me. Are you with a troupe yet, my dear Atha? If not, I recommend it. It's always so nice to be surrounded by dancers, all of them trying to help and teach you to be your best. Some can be fussy, mind you, but I'm sure that's more of being women then it is being dancer. Don't you agree?"

Chigaru smiled and yawned, starting to get up. Then, his tail hit the pot, toppling it. "Eep!" he yelped, flinching at the noise. It seemed louder than it should have due to the quiet that had been in it's wake. He picked it up and set it back up with his paws, fumbling only for a moment. He sighed with relief when it was standing again, and then glanced over at the dancers to see if they had heard it. He almost hoped that they did, for he was starting to get lonely. However, at the same time, he didn't want them to come over, in case they were mad at him. These thought caused him to freeze up, unsure of what to do.

Atha shook her head to Aloli's question regarding a troupe. "No, I havent joined a troup. I also don't really have dancers in my family .. as far as I can think of." She tought, seeming a bit calmer now that the conversation took a more steady pace, she then smiles a little at Aloli's remark about girl behavior. A small memory passing her mind as she did. She did grew a bit curious about these .. Roma people, she had never heard of it and couldn't rely deny sh found it interesting. Her focus ont he topic was abrubtly interupted however, when a large noise startled her almost of her feet. She then swiftly looked the way the sound came, and swiftly felt embarresed that she startled over such a small thing.

Aloli's mouth dropped slightly open. "Not troupe?" The gasped the followed seemed to be laced with despair. "That can't be! I'll have to fix this right away!" Aloli reached forward to grab Atha's when she heard a sudden, almost crash.
Her eyes shot up to her direction where male sat with his water jub sat. Aloli's ears shot forward, all thoughts of troupes and dancing flying out from between her ears. "I wonder who that could be?" she aked, both her paws now fully wrapped around Atha's arm. "Let's go see, Atha. C'mon!"
Aloli jumped forward, hoping Atha would be coming with her.

Chigaru blushed, his spine shivering as one of the Dancers started towards him. His ears shot back and he frowned, lowering his head slightly. 'Stupid tail.' he thought, glancing at the offending jar which his tail had hit. He then looked back at the dancer shyly, and waited, frozen on the spot, for her to reach him. Thinking, he wondered what would happen, and then tossed the thought away. It hadn't yet happened, and as such, there was no telling what would happen. He was just glad Anhur wasn't here. His brother always seemed to be the center of attention because of his higher ranking. It was the reason why, not the fact that he got all the attention, that annoyed Chigaru. Turning his thoughts back to the present, he forced himself to relax.
