We have a rule that we don't like things that are too personal (ie. something that is just a downer and puts everybody in a bad mood) in our sphinx threads - we're an adoptable/RP group, not a therapy group. Although, we do have a great community and if people need support and to share encourage them to post in our sphinx forum threads where it's more appropriate. Normally this isn't something I would even be posting in any adoptable forums, even with a place for it, but due to my being the owner of the adoptable the people following are owed an explanation when I've been more absent and distracted. (ie. If I vanished from say, a Solstice thread for a week I wouldn't need to come back saying what is going on, but if I vanish from Sphinxes for a week then people wonder, work is halted, etc. So I at least owe you guys the reason behind it.) I've had a few medical issues lately, some physical, some emotional health and have been either on waiting lists, or seeing doctors, or waiting to see therapists for a few of these. One big worrisome one that has been in progress since March is to do with needing to get a very large mole on my scalp removed and a biopsy. In March, after years of asking, I finally saw a specialist about the mole and he said that it may be a cyst but should be removed right away. Medical care goes slow in Northern Ontario so on May 30th I had minor surgery to have it removed, and was told to make an appointment with my doctor in a month to get the results of the biopsy. Of course this is Northern Ontario so I was given the minimum wait of until July 15th to actually get results. I was just sitting down to work on the cobra circlet for the new Royal Wives when the call came in from the specialist that I needed to see him ASAP about the results (even though I have an appointment with my family doctor in.. geeze, a month), and am going in tomorrow morning. When I asked on the phone if it was bad I was told that the doctor would prefer to talk to me in person about it. So, I've been kinda a mess the last while. It's a big part of why I seem to vanish for a few days at a time, stress, worry, etc causing more complications with other things going on. This is also the reason that while I keep saying each day for the last few days that I'll get 'such and such' done it's suddenly to the side due to some, more personal, RL issues happening for me. There's only so many at once due to having a terrible/lazy family doctor for nearly a decade who recently retired, and the new doctor I have actually gets things done and is actually getting the list of things that piled up over the years for me looked into and checked. (ie. I finally was able to see an endocrinologist after a decade of asking and being refused, to finally see one to discover that I've been on the wrong thyroid medicine dosage this whole time. -_- ) So there you go. I don't like to air this stuff out, but with my constant vanishing, and taking forever to get anything done lately I thought I needed to say something when I just vanished again. Depending on the news tomorrow I'll either be getting back to work tomorrow or the day after, or if it's bad news, well, I may have to see if somebody else can finish some things for me if I'm not quite up to working.

Oh damn, Pooka. -bear hugs- That's definitely a lot to be dealing with, and your health comes first. It's good, at least, that your new doctor is actually on the ball and getting things done. Sending all the good vibes possible your way, and hoping that tomorrow goes alright. <3

Oh gosh, I'm a worrier by nature but a situation like this would definitely be nerve-wrecking and terrifying, so it's understandable that you've been focused on the things going on in RL rather than the virtual world! *hugs* So sorry that this has cropped up on you and I really hope for the best for you! I know I've been a total mess myself here lately - I think there's something in the air right about now, honestly. Sending lots of good thoughts and vibes your way, Pooka! Please take care!

*hugs Pooka* Sorry you're having to deal with this, but I'm glad your new doctor is willing to hear your concerns and try to solve the issues. I hope the results aren't as bad as they sound like they'll be. Will be keeping you in my prayers and sending good thoughts your way.

Oh thank goodness.
I did have to go in because it is a type of skin cancer, but not melanoma. It's basal skin cancer, which doesn't usually spread to the lymph nodes (unless left for a really long time to spread badly). They need to do surgery again in a couple of months to remove more skin, but I'm not dying. ^_^
That... is a lot of stress gone. Wow.
Again, sorry for even mentioning anything about this on here. I didn't want to make anybody uncomfortable, but I figured that people were owed an explanation to erratic off and on vanishing this year.
So, that's what happens when you spend a good part of your teen years in the sun without sun block and a hat. Back in the early 90s we usually just used sunblock to keep from getting burned, there was little care or worry about skin cancer from the sun back then. My mother used to even cover herself in baby oil and sunbathe just to get a good tan. Times really have changed.

Wow Pooka, that sounds so scary, I'm sorry that had to happen to you! *hugs* Still, thank goodness it was not something more serious! Also, don't worry about the vanishing. Your health is definitely a priority, and I think we all understand this.
