Hmm, scientific name as I understand it is Genus name species name, so just Rosa is out. Pelargonium X asperum looks like... a hybrid? I'm not finding many image references for P. asperum, but a bunch for other genuses with asperum species... Uhhh... and maybe it should be P. graveolens... I dunno.
Drosera capensis does represent a clear species I can find references for, so I'm tempted to go with that.

A quick search shows rosa as the scientific name for a rose. :0
I assume that changes when you get into particular roses. XD

Right, that's a genus, not a species- the scientific name is for a species & includes the genus name

You may want to be specific then--if you search it specificially says scientific name: Rosa.
Not just on wiki, the whole search page gos off it.
Not that it really matters--I was going ot gift him if I won--but for the future may be worth remembering ^^

Aye, im just a bit confuzzled because what was asked was very basic and broad-- the scientific name of a plant..and a rose is a plant.
If it was mosre specific, like give me the scientic name of a variety or species of a plant, I can see your point <3
Again, it doesn't really matter--I guess we are all learning from this little bump. I just wanted to make that point ^^

Pff had I known that I would have looked up the name for hydrangea and thrown up one of the varieties I actually have in my backyard--either 'lets dance', 'fire and ice' or the typical mophead that people think about when seeing a hygrengea (the one that changes colour depending on ph of soil)
