The Temple of Helios The Temple of Helios was a massive marble edifice that sat atop one of the higher hills in the city of Phix, where the large, open courtyard could catch the rays of the sun at anytime of day. Sunlight constantly glitters and sparkles off of the many decorative metal workings of bronze and gold that line the walls and gild interior statues. At night numerous large sconces, stone pits, and broad iron cauldrons burned with the 'fire' caught from the sun, making the Temple the brightest point in all of Phix and a landmark that even drunken visitors could navigate the city by.~~~~~~~*~*~*~~~~~~~
The decision to visit Phix for the Friendship Festival had been one Adjo agonized over quite a bit. The Pharaoh hated to be absent during a Heb~Bastet festival, not only due to the importance of the holiday to his subjects but also because the festivities seemed to have a tendency to attract trouble in Ahket. But the High Mage TaRepy had assured him he could forego the inconvenience of travel; her magic could transport him to Hellas and potentially back to Ahket at a moment's noticed should he be needed. And his wives reminded him that they were all quite capable, thank you very much, and could see to any royal duties necessary during the festivities.
While the god Helios wasn't truly an equivalent for the almighty Ra (though Adjo was of course tactful enough to never say such out loud to his hosts), the Temple of their sun god seemed an appropriate setting for Adjo to meet and visit with Hellas dignitaries, as well as even some of the common folk. Adjo even found himself feeling a slight affinity for the fellow, given the stories of Helios as a masterful charioteer. Perhaps Helios was simply an aspect of Ra, residing in this green land teeming with these witty, winged sphinxes?
Given the unfailing hospitality of his hosts, Adjo knew he must eagerly return the gesture, and he had been forming some plans for days now. Thankfully some of his special charges had just arrived and he looked forward to sharing (as well as showing off, if truth be told) the strength and wealth of the Khemet nation with his hard to impress hosts.

Friendship is Four-Legged
The sun shone down brightly as Adjo stepped onto the dais in front of a large crowd of festival goers, and he was thankful for the breeze that blew in between the massive columns which lined the courtyard. Temple runners had been getting word out about this event for a few days and Adjo was pleased to see the growing crowd swell to standing room only.
Adjo was quite proud of the breeding lines he had acquired after becoming Pharaoh, and he kept careful account of pedigree. Working with the stable master to plan future matches and check in on new foals was one of his favorite ‘off duty’ activities. The stables were always full and it wasn’t often that Adjo sold or gifted a horse, but for this special festival, he felt a gesture of generosity and diplomacy was in order.
Preparing to speak, Adjo waved a paw at the stable master waiting in the wings with his charges and various helpful grooms. A hush fell over the crowd as the high stepping equines came forward, the sun glinting off of their shining coats. A couple high spirited ones tossed their heads and snorted at the throng of sphinxes, while others seemed to revel in all the admiration, strutting their way to center stage.
"Honored guests and visitors, I have been so honored by the royal welcome and vast hospitality I have received from all of you during my visit with you here in Phix," Adjo began in grand gesture. "I wish to return the favor and seek to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our strong nations. These six beautiful steeds are from my own stables, each lovingly bred and cared for. I wish to gift them to six citizens of Hellas as a token of the continued friendship between your nation and Khemet."

Diplomatic Exchange
An Official Announcement from the Temple of Helios!
The Pharaoh has had a most pleasing time in the city of Phix! The Friendship Festival has been a wonderful experience and Menmaatre Adjo would very much like to take steps to officially strengthen the ties between Phix and Khemet. He proposes that two new Hellas Diplomats be assigned to the nation of Khemet, where they will live in official embassy quarters in the great city of Ahket, and consult with the Pharaoh on matters of great importance to our two nations!

This job upgrade contest is open to all Greek Sphinxes! There will be one male and one female diplomat chosen. You may sign up with either a male or a female sphinx, but you many not participate as both, so choose wisely! The contest will run in a series of three rounds (number of rounds may change based on the number of sign ups), one round each on June 6, 7, and 8, so make sure you will be available to participate on those days if you sign up! To sign up for the contest, post the image of the Sphinx you are applying with, along with the phrase "(sphinx name) would like to be an ambassador for the nation of Hellas!" If you wish to write up a short bit of roleplay for them, it is not necessary, but feel free! The deadline for sign-ups is June 5, 8:00pm CDT/1:00am UTC. Any posts after this time will not be accepted for consideration! Prizes on the left are for male contestants and prizes on the right for female participants.

Faces in the Crowd As the festivities and competition went on throughout the week, one Sphinx attended at the Temple of Helios each day, silently watching over the proceedings with an alertness born of a natural warrior. Few of the celebrating Sphinxes, caught up in the games and revelry, noticed her - and of those that did, no one knew who she was or where she had come from. She seemed expectant - like she was waiting for someone or she had a story to tell. What was it?
OOC: This is a short writing/role play contest. Tell a story about her, some kind of event in her past. Maybe about a mighty battle, an act of heroism, or her younger years when she was first learning to handle a bow. Entries should be posted here with the title 'Mysterious Warrior' in bold. Minimum of 100 words, no more than 400! You have until June 11, 3:13pm CDT/8:13pm UTC. ~~~~~~~*~*~*~~~~~~~ This fellow had only just arrived at the Temple, and seemed to be paying attention to everything but the games! Some other attendees recognized him from other temples and locales, and grinned at the way he paid them and everyone else no mind, instead focusing all his attention on the buildings he visits and their decor. He is a lover of the 'modern' arts, always on the look out for something new, something different, something that will shake him to his core! Will he find it here?
OOC: An art contest! Think outside the box on this one, creativity and originality is key here, not skill. The art doesn't have to be complex, or even representational! Go ahead, blow his mind with some Abstraction. Entries should be posted here with the title 'Noble Art Lover' in bold. Only restriction is to stay within a 'Helios' theme.
