Interesting... some of that might work, I'll think on it before our next round of breedings... So, I don't have a yes or no yet, but this option has potential. I've got some ideas to add too, like idk if I'd leave this up to the artist (though maybe?) but rather the owner so their decision fits their roleplay (and if they still need a random factor, perhaps explaining how their own were's work in a character profile or setting page and then making their own roles there, and adding the info to the forms...) I'm not sure yet, (-8 but there's some potential.
(one little note too... on older certs we replaced Egyptian with subtypes, but nowadays we always add the subtype in addition too... like
EF9999 | female | Egyptian | Wereraven
and I'll fix up old certs I catch when things are sent in for updating.)
Part of my restructuring of the breeding system is an 'everyone gets a spot and everyone wins' model and it works like this. (and will be the formula we keep using as long as it works out well and goes smoothly.)
1 - We put up a breeding growing thread with a time limit.
2 - Once a month Pooka will randomize the names and do one breeding or growing. That person is taken off the list.
3 - Repeat until all the slots are done, however long it takes.
4 - Repeat.
There will not be a new thread posted every month, rather one slot will be done every month until they are all gone and then we'll put up another thread.
After spending a lot of time trying to find a balance, I think this system is the most fun and fair for everyone involved. The old system had to many variables, people could get super unlucky and some players missed out. (You could keep missing narrow slot windows, or you could keep getting on the list but then miss rolls to have breedings and ...lots of other things that could reduce the fun!). The way we are doing it now, everyone gets a spot and everyone gets to participate.
Also, at the moment (and foreseeable future) there is no random roll for extra babies or twins. From the team perspective I did not think there was any good rationalization to make any of the artists double the amount of work they wanted to do, for a free bonus giveaway system, based on a random dice roll.

Is this the hourglass for breeding? It does not look the one in the samples  Correct! I meant to make a note about that. These are the same hourglasses but we do have an updated graphic now. (...and more explanation then nessicary... originally hourglasses were meant as a 'use only' item, as in you used one to get an effect, but it became a popular request during our time travel event to have them as an 'add to Sphinx' item, like a pet or sword. So Pooka redid the graphic and templated the hourglasses so they looked better when added to certs.) (...and even more notes and details! Some players might find some odd clipped or pixelated images of items they had before we switched to smugmug, this hourglass included, which is due to the photobucket blackmail scandal where we (and everyone else who's bills went from $3 to $600) could not properly access our image files. In order for me to properly save everyone's inventory I had to save little thumbnail graphics instead of full images. This just made sure that no one's inventories were not lost or changed... Even though the old images don't look great they are all recognizable and work just fine, (-8) |

Originally I made the hourglasses brown wood, the way they are now, but they weren't set up for being an attachable item, they needed work for that since the background needed to be against white. Anyhow, they 'were' brown when I first made them, but the theme I was going with was 'the cub is taken to Malla'ablien where time runs differently so it was dust from that realm'. Sort of a silvery 'moon dust'. (Malla'ablien is Mi'ri'lil's Queendom in an upper plane of eternal moonlit night where she can speed up time if need be.) Then later I brought in Ranquillane the time warden and made her my more official 'skip time' grower who gives out hourglasses. Then I thought 'well, can't have this silver now' so I took off the layers that were making the wood/sand silver and put it back to it's original look. Long explanation, but I guess it's kinda interesting. ^_^ They both do the exact same thing though, they just look different.  (ETA) Recently I was asked to make the hourglass an attachable item, so I needed to go in and fix it up because it had no 'back' to it. So I fixed it up to make it look correct against a non-white background. One more I thought of XD I had previously thought that twins could be rolled naturally during a normal breeding but that it was just a very very slim chance like 1 in 10 or something But is that right? Or are twins are only possible with a breeding item and not a possibility during a normal breed at all? To add to what Mr. Pooka said, don't forget that the old 'very small chance of twins' also had a 'large chance of failure and no cub at all' system. Now it's guaranteed to have one cub instead of random rolls. I think it was originally less then a 5% chance with unmarried sphinxes, I could be wrong though. But yeah, doing a breeding or growing takes up a lot of time. In the time it takes me to do one I could have two new wigs, or part of a new class done for the Heb (or even more if the breeding/growing takes new templating). So I can't even comprehend doing a whole list every month any longer especially being that it's only me doing them now, along with all of the templating for the adoptable in general. But one a month I can definitely make time for. ^_^ |

Curious just thought about this since its a new month....
For the breeding thread is once a month mean exactly a month apart like the first on feb 22nd and the next not till at least March 22nd
Or dose it just mean anywhere in that month it doesn't matter when the previous one was done?

Just 'sometime during that month when I have some time'. ^_^ I've been crazy busy with Heb prep, but I am going to have something with the breeding/growing done before the end of the month for sure. At the worst, if I ever miss a month I'll do extra the next month (so it will add up), but I hope to never miss a month! |

I know this is a ways off, but planning is round the clock >.>
Given this Heb, will the Hanashima face count as a face mod and incur that cost, or will it not incur an additional cost due to the Heb theme and it being a “standard” for the peasants here? Will we be able to choose between the standard peasant faces and the Hanashima peasant faces at will?

Oh, good question! The Hanashima face mod will be the standard base for this year, though the current standard face (like last year) mod can also be chosen at no extra cost.
I'm pretty sure that going forward we'll try to have a few different face mods set up as the base price... there should be more info when I get it sorted, but I'm kind of overhauling the way we've done them in the past (both in artistic/practical ways and for customs). The way things were set up was a bit clunky but it's on my list, (-8
Also on a related note, we've got 3 commoner wigs for females and 2 for males that also come standard at no extra cost, (-8 (sort of like how we had steampunk or atlantean choices last year)

A few things like Djets and Mer and Harpies (and maybe more.. I'll make sure before we get there) won't be generally open, but this time a round Pooka is planning on adding at least one (to see how it goes) 'Special Slot' for some of the more limited options. I figure this way there will be some available, but she won't get backlog of huge projects all at once! (most things that are limited are because of the work involved...)

Pooka has a bunch of ideas she wants to try for some refashioning/custom options and that one might make the list. I don't want to say 100% because we both find with stuff like that you've got 'feel the inspiration.' (like some seasons I feel like I can knock a maenad idea out of the park, but at other times I just get stuck...) Aesops are usually available and will be this time as well. The base cost of an Aesop is simply the equivalent pet price. (a raven Aesop costs the same as a raven pet.) So colouring might cost a bit more depending on the colours like everything else. Most items cost the same as they do for refashioning if you'd like them... of course most wearables don't work but I'm up for playing with anything to see if it'll go, (-8 (like a raven with a book and some candles would be workable, but not a hat or cloak, (-8) Of course and Aesop does not need any items or extras to distinguish themselves either, it's just an option, (-8 (idk why but I keep picturing a Panda with a schoolbag...) |
