The Search for the Kraken and the Battle for Atlantis

The time had come! Sphinxes from Ahket gathered, along with a few more combat willing Atlanteans, together in the park that surrounded the main waterway into the ocean. Those who needed them were handed out magical pearl necklaces that would both let them breathe water along with resist the cold and pressure of the deeps. Tridents, both magical and regular, were passed around since anybody going out into the the kraken's claimed territory would need them.

The sphinxes were set up into teams, each with at least one mer, who used her psychic powers to create a mindlink so as to better call upon other members of your team if necessary.
((OOC: This is where you can say after the RP that other sphinxes you have were in the background helping out in their own, separate teams.))

Your team is set to go forth into the ruins with Amira (the characters you are playing) as she mindlinks all of you together. It's an odd sensation, like having a silent conversation. Much like a room of sphinxes if too many spoke at once it was like trying to pick out words in a crowd all speaking at the same time.
The plan was explained, that each team was taking different areas of the ancient ruins of the old island of Atlantis. Your team is prestigious and is able to search the ruins directly around the city's dome, which was still a very large area. So sphinxes could be split up to avoid too much attention from the kraken and be able to call upon other team members with their mental communication as necessary.
((OOC: Let's just say that works out as the best plan, since we need it for the game. ^_^))


Amaria then splashes her tail to gather attention then looks over the gathered sphinxes who were ready for battle. As the group turned silent she cleared her throat and began to speak in a clear voice.




"My friends. Today we embark on a quest of great import, one that hopefully will not only change Atlantis, but aid our new allies from the mythical kingdom of Ahket. What we seek is to find ancient energy sources that have been long lost in the ruins of old Atlantis, along with slay the kraken that plagues this city. Between the information that our new friends have brought us and the studies of the Atlantean scholars we have come to better understand how to activate our sources of ancient energy."

Her voice raises with determination.
"Never before have I witnessed such a capable group of sphinxes. With bold sphinxes from Ahket fighting alongside the mer defenders we shall be an unstoppable force! You are all courageous adventurers who have bravely stepped forward to aid both of our lands. Being strong is being brave and today you have shown your true strength."


Amira practically cries out while raising her holy trident high. "We shall destroy the kraken, We shall bring power to our homes,. And we shall prevail as heroes!"



With that she dove into the water ahead of her team to lead them into the ruins.

I'll be going with the second team to help them out but I'd like to wish you all good hunting and the best of luck! A Kraken like this is not something to be trifled with... The danger is very real so be careful and help out your friends and companions! No one Sphinx can face a creature like this alone no matter how powerful you think you are!



While you are searching for the Kraken it is a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for these.







These crystals come in many sizes and may be cracked fragment or broken but they are still very vaulable in any condition. They will be required to get the power sources of this city back up and running again at full steam... and unlocking who knows what kind of potential!



Once we've collected enough of them I'll help these fun and kind people of Atlantis learn how to reconnect them in the proper way to their ancient tech... I have to admit, I'm really excited about this!

The Search for the Kraken!

The game!

Everyone may pick on spot on the map to search every 15 minutes. (We will be doing 15 minute blocks of time, not 15 minutes since your last post. Example 1:00 to 1:15 and then 1:16 to 1:30 etc. You could pick on number at 1:14 and another at 1:17.)

If someone picks your map search area before you do, you miss your chance and cannot guess again until the next round... with one exception, finding the Kraken. (notes will be added the first time this happens!)

There are a some prizes to find on the map but there are TWO main things we are searching for on this map!

The first thing we are searching for is the KRAKEN! The rules for what happens when someone finds the Kraken will be posted the first time it happens.

The Second thing we are searching for is Power crystals and crystal fragments to help repair and charge the main power source of Atlantis. Most Power Crystal Fragments will earn the seeker One Point of repetition to spend in the prize shop. A very few finds might be worth a couple more points.

You may earn a maximum of 15 points in this search though you may keep searching the map. There is one exception to this limit that will be revealed later in the game.

Prize Shop purchases are made in this thread and are first come first serve. After you make any purchase from the Prize Shop you may not search again until one hour after your Purchase Request.

This game starts at 4:00 (a little under an hour from when it is being posted.)

1. Must be a regular posed, female egyptian sphinx where the tail would fit. I may ask for a differnt sphinx if it won't work
2. They cannot be of an 'evil' class (assassin, pirate, HoD thief, etc). BUT if they are you may be able to do a lateral change into a different, 'non-evil' class of the same level or lower of choice. (seen as a 'change of heart' and they weren't really so bad.) This is just to be accepted by the mer since they are a goodly, defender society... and they would know, they have some powerful psychics. (Will not work for a 3.5, they may only change to a lvl 3 or lower)

Sekhet had come to hear that there would be warriors or such needed for a hunt. Finding the spot where others were gathering, she had heard Fernanda right when the female had mentioned it. Taking the necklace offered and finding the mindlink placed, she prepared herself. Hearing Amaria's words, she raised her trident. "Lets take this beastie down!" she called and dove in with the others who were joining the hunt.

[Operetta]

Amélie had given her promise of helping Atlantis rid itself of the threat of the kraken, and she was ready to do so. She was unnerved a bit by the necklace she wore in order to survive underwater, but it was needed for the situation. She heft her trident several times reminding herself of the hours of practice she had put in. It wasn't her standard or preferred weapon, but she had been assured that it was the best one for the foe they faced. Looking around the ruins, she tried to figure out just where the monster might be lurking.

Akila had heard from her pride-mate Nailo that people in Atlantis needed help, so she had decided to come help them. As she looked around, she listened to Amaria's words and they filled her with a steely determination to make sure to do whatever she could to ensure the end to the Kraken so that everyone would have peace and prosperity. "Let's slay the Kraken!" She said, that determination showing through her voice. She wanted to do all she could to ensure victory for the Sphinxes and Mers.

[Siopilos]

Zian was a totel bleeding heart, and as an angel he was drawn to despair only because he wanted to right it. With the siren song of the Atlantean's plight against the Kracken beckoning him through the portal in Akhet, he followed down the path of the explorers. He saw all those rallied together to help and it filled his heart with a warm feeling. He'd help wherever he could.

The light colored Sphinx pushed his hair out of his face and gave everyone a curious look.

[Ankhu]

Any group of Sphinxes facing down such a fearsome foe would need a healer. Ankhu was still not completely sure he trusted these Atlanteans and their mind powers, but he was determined to assist them in protecting their home. He was no fighter, but healing skills, spells and salves were as necessary as weapons for hunts like this one.

Kirah had done a bit of research and grabed a few underwater breathing wands just incase. She worked on minimizing her friendly fire, with the help of Richard and Destiny then went back through the portal, making sure Richard had the girls firmly in his arms.

This was going ot be an interesting fight. She was kind of looking forward to it!

Inti readied herself to head out with the others. While she could fight decently enough, she was much more apt to finding things and hoped that would be of use to the group.
