It was always interesting to explore the Market District during the Heb Bastet Festival. Adventurous traders from near and far traveled to the city to display the newest and most exotic of wares. New foods, fancy costumes and adorable pets were just a few of the fun things to sample or purchase! It was also not uncommon for new shops to pop up which were easily spotted by looking for groups of locals peering in windows or lining up for a new treat. While you wandered looking for a new distraction a fancifully dressed Sphinx, covered in frills and bows, cheerfully called to you and smiled! The way she talked was particular adorable and her fluttering eyes kept your stare while she described a new style of cafe she wanted you to test out for her! It was very new, she explained, and you would be doing her the greatest of favours if you would just go inside and see if it was to your liking! It was remarkable hard to refuse her, in her adorable costume and singsong voice. You were looking for something new after all and it seems like you would helping a new business out... With and excited exclamation the maid pointed out a nearby building with a brand new magically shining sign that read...
Nefer Nefer TA
The main entrance to the cafe had a large pink ribbon decoratively tied overtop the doorway and there were remarkable realistic paintings of several other Sphinxes dressed in delightfully frilly costumes affixed to the outer wall. Hanging banner cloths hung in the doorway simply marked with the a pair of TA, denoting either bread or feminine, that you had to push aside to enter. Beyond the entrance was a wonderland of bright and shiny everything! Colourful art, polished tables, decorative ribbons, impossibly perfect tiny statues and so much more than you could take in with a glance! Several costumed Sphinxes snapped you out of your trance with a playful welcoming chant that you didn't quite understand yet, but when they all bowed, one repeated something similar in perfect Khemetic. Welcome Mistress! (or Master, or both!).
Your own personal maid escorted you to a comfortable booth and another brought a basket of perfect glossy buns, shaped as if to be the very hieroglyphic symbol for bread! A menu filled with pictures was displayed to you, and your maid explained what everything was... though most of the items were totally new to you anyways and so everything would be a taste adventure. Boldly you chose an item and a drink and the maids congratulated you on your good taste and dashed off to fetch your food! At another table, two maids spontaneously begin to serenade a beaming customer enjoying her meal. It's hard not to smile as they dance and sing and gesture to the music. When your food arrives it comes with some magic and a show? You are walked through a magic chant that will make your drink even more sweet and when your meal, some sort of egg on rice is presented the maid askes what your favorite animal is. When you say cat, she smiles and begins to drizzle some sauce on your meal in a pattern that is quickly revealed to be an adorable cat face! How wonderful! Next she asks your name and then proceeds to drip another syrup on the top of your drink to create your cartouche! The maids leave you to your meal which is a collection of savories and sweets you've never experienced before...
As the cafe became more busy you were frequently entertained by highly trained maids who visited tables to chat or check on meals, as well as take a small stage and perform adorable dancing and singing numbers! The cafe was a festival of the senses and it would be hard to leave! After a few more drinks and a dish of soft puddinglike dessert you could not consume anything more and it was time to head back out into the streets of Ahket. A maid offered you a tiny card with a cute picture and explained that they could mark it every time you came back and after just nine more visits you could get a free meal or chose an item from their small shop of adorable items. You clutched the card tightly as treasure and when you were heading out all the maids in sight bowed and simultaneously bid you farewell!
