It's going to take Mr. Pooka awhile to get everybody dressed up. We were going to wait until that was done for the next part but due to new templates and needing certain colours it's taking a tad longer.
So, we can continue the storyline a little and just assume that they already have their uniforms and wands. ^_^

With a keen vision nearing divination he predicted great things... and a major world shift. The last decade was proving to be instrumental in shaping the world into something new. ...ah but now as not the time for deep thoughts, but rather to welcome the bright new faces to Widdershins! He rose and took the center stage behind the podium.  " Who!" He proclaimed loudly gaining the crowds attention... whether via his commanding presence or just curiosity, "ahem, Who among you has that feeling." He paused to let the students ponder the vague question. "That feeling of finding your place. Your community. Your friends. Your place to realize your aspirations and your goals. Your MAGIC!" He said with a commanding flourish! "This is your place. Here you will learn the tools and skills you need to fly to new heights and soar far above your potentials. I'd like to welcome you all to Widdershins!" The headmaster paused as the students, both new and experienced cheered and applauded! "Now, I have a few announcements before we begin. First, while we have often had an exchange student or two and the odd visitor from distant lands, this is the first year where we have fully opened our doors to students from around the world. There may be a few unforeseen bumps in the road from all of the new forms of magic and much learning concerning new cultures but I'd like all of you to take the opportunity to uses these bumps as learning experiences. Through patience and tolerance we will all grow together in harmony and understanding. Now on the same topic, this year we have several new classes being added to the curriculum, such as Atlantean Crystal Magic and Khemetic Hekau for you to explore and broaden you repertoires!" "I'd like to also take this time to welcome some of our newest teachers. I'll begin by introducing our youngest ever Professor of Transfiguration, Magdalyn Shadowstone." The headmaster looked over to see Professor Shadowstone stand for the crowd and joined in the applause. "You will find her breadth of experience far exceeds her age and you are lucky to have such a talented teacher!."  "Our last transfiguration teacher finally achieved a certain magical spell she'd been crafting over the years which has resulted in turning herself into a Great Crested Grebe. ...and as a minor aside, if anyone happens to see a Great Crested Grebe on the school grounds could you kindly report it to your nearest staff or house leader, thank you." "Also this year we have a new teacher of Runology, Noora Nylund!"  "Now I'm sure some of you have heard the rumors concerning our previous teacher but I assure you it was not as bad as it sounds and has been dealt with so I won't go into any sordid details here. Needless to say, no first years should believe the rumors about being strung up in trees on your quest to learn the basics of Runecrafting!" "For all of our new students, each of our teachers is a new face but you will have opportunities to meet them and learn from their vast pools of wisdom in your classes!" "This is always such a wondrous time of year at Widdershins and I encourage you all to search around and spend time getting to know the grounds as well as the new Sphinxes around you. ...but as a reminder there are rules and places one should not be poking around, in some cases for your own safety! Please make yourself familiar with the posted rules and don't become a statistic I have to explain to next years students... Like those who went missing on Halloween last year exploring places they were warned not to explore!" The headmaster paused, noticing he might be instilling the wrong sort of inspiration with his warnings... "ah, but enough of that, who's hungry?" With another dramatic clap the great tables were covered in delectable dishes exotic foods and treats! Pastries and candy and roasts and breads, Pitchers of drinks both hot and cold and much of it new and different than anything from your homelands! There was so much to try and each time a platter was emptied another magically appeared to replace it with something new! |

Iris quietly made her plate with all the lovely vegetables she could find. She sighed as she glanced at some of the meats she saw. She knew her new form liked meats and such but she had not gotten used to eating them. She made herself a bowl of mushroom stew and took a tentative taste. She listened to the bubbly voices around her as students talked and got to know each other. She kept stealing tentative glances at other students pets and the many owls flitting about.

As the new faculty were introduced, Amam eyed them warily. That new Professor of Transformation would be someone to watch out for, for certain. But how exactly did illusion and transformation work in this strange land? He would have to find out, and hopefully it would be sooner rather than later.

*sneaks in quickly from Multicorforing* I'll have a new robe pickup post but they are slowly being sneaked into inventories as I'm going for the curious! (-8 *sneaks out quickly with another lout Mulicorfor!*

Takibi listened closely to the announcements, and intended to give the rules a fourth or fifth look over. However, for now, his mind was on food. He did laden his plate with new things to try, listening to others talk happily. So far, with the nervousness of the arriving and sorting out of the way, this seemed like it was going to be amazing.

Older members of Houses were excited to speak and gossip with the new recruits. The Silverarm were thrilled to talk about their House weapon training after hours and gave hints of who in the school they could trust, and who they should avoid. Whisperglyph gave kernels of wisdom and history about the school, hoping to discover if their new members had any sort of creative skills. Verden were thrilled to talk about the magical animals in the Wand Wood and about the greenhouse that Professor Flynn kept which was filled with all sorts of powerful, mystical plants. The Catpaw House members whispered a few secrets that they could risk being accidentally overheard, but did note to talk with them more in the common room later for the good tidbits of rumor. As the dinner was beginning to wind to a close the Headmaster approached the podium again to make a quick announcement. "I know that many of you are eager to show the new students around the school or to your house common rooms, but before you can whisk them away I have a surprise for you all." His dark owl eyes glinted with cheer from his little surprise. "Due to so many new students arriving I have invited the keeper of a Pet Shop in Lander to the school tonight so some of you who wish for a familiar may be able to obtain one. She has been setting up in the courtyard while you have been dining and you can feel free to peruse his pets once you are finished." Heading outside you find a curvy female sphinx with no particular different traits and frizzy hair in a bun to be waiting by a small number of cages, crates and stands. Owls perch on stands and hoot in cages, in a small barred cage are a bundle of adorable rats and one of the boxes turned into a terrarium holds croaking, bounding toads. "Welcome welcome!" the sphinx smiles at you "Please feel free to come forward and have a good look at these little darlings, perhaps you'll find one that suits you."
((OOC))To win a pet (one of the types shown on the front page, an owl, rat or toad, we'll play a game of 'Hoo am I?" Erm, I mean 'Who am I?' The winner will get to choose from one of those pet types. (These can be put into your inventory, or added to your sphinx.) I'll start in a moment. ^_^ |
