OH! Some people already knew about it, but we didn't elaborate on 'why the strawberry cake?' and the mention of chicken.
In Japan Christmas isn't really so much of a holiday as a 'date night'. There is no time off work and it's more of a fun thing to do in the evening. (Although the light decorations in Tokyo are just... wow! So pretty! I only know from watching walking videos.)
Anyhow, the tradition there is to have a whipped cream and strawberry cake with the family, along with fried chicken. The chicken because they don't usually have ovens in Japan and can't really cook a turkey. So somewhere along the line picking up KFC became the thing to do instead.
Also, like I mentioned, it's more like a date night then what we do over here. I wasn't sure what to do for Hanashima since Yule/Christmas wouldn't really be a thing there, so instead it was a sphinxified character from Tokyo who told them about it, and the Empress was curious about a gift giving festival and asked for him to elaborate. So Hiro was bringing a Japanese Christmas cake as a gift. ^_^
There we go. It may not have needed explanation, but for those who didn't know, there's the answer why.

AeonThe streets of Aeon were spectacularly beautiful. Stone building and streets were illuminated in curious soft glows as if someone had worked magic artistically into some of the rock's mortar. Plants of all types framed the buildings and many rooftops seemed to be gardens or parks while you could see some sort of water feature in nearly every direction. Hard edges were few and far between and even the stonework was mostly made of aesthetically curved or natural stones and were there were clashing architecture plants were used to soften the view. Many Raptors and several other large reptilian creatures walked the streets along with some creature types you've never seen before and couldn't identify. The few Egyptian Sphinxes you do note tend to be powerfully build and most bore large sabre teeth.
While the inquisitive began asking about Goblin Santa or any holiday chaos, most of the locals didn't seem to know what we were talking about at all...Tokk: So Tokk no see no green little male in beard.Tograwr: Tograwr doesn't know what fruitcake is...Odag: No chaos here, against tha rules.Dhib: Well met travelers! Sorry to hear about your troubles but I'm afraid I haven't seen anything like what you are describing. Perhaps you could ask one of the Time Raptors. I can see you are serious, but are experiencing something that seems unexplainable. The Raptors seem to have a better sense for these kinds of things and I'm sure they can help you out! Happy Solstice or a Merry Yule to you all!
Dhib pointed out a Time Raptor just a ways down the street near a fountain.
A few of the travellers recognized the Time Raptor named Rezi curiously trying to place different blue lotus flowers on his person as if looking for just the right spot because he knew someone would ask. He stopped and blinked a few times when he saw the group as if trying to comprehend just how you were there... Rezi: Oh hey, it's you guys! You lost or... *he eyed the festive costumes* ah yes A hearty Yuletide Greetings and a Merry No Refunds to you all! Looking for some new pet rocks I presume... I just thought that you might have had enough of them that they would already be making new little pebbles on their own. I mean if you were taking good care of them, raising them right and of course feeding them their favorited special food! What food you say? Oh, well that's a pretty closely guarded secret that I'm sure was in the Pet Rock Owners manual... but if it got left out by mistake, well I might be able to tell you. If it's ok with my boss, I'll have to check. While we're waiting to hear back I do have another friend named Sarah with a clothing shop down the way who makes shirts and sweaters for Raptors, yes, even holiday ones! She sells them at a fair price but she did mention that she has a prize that she'd be happy to give away as a promotion though! Now there are a lot of you so we might have to do this the old fashioned way with a raffle instead of the local 'whose got the biggest teeth' sort of contest. If you're interest in the raffle, just call out (post in bold) "I wanna try Sarah' tops, please" here (in this thread) to be entered into the prize raffle! (you have 60 minutes from this post to enter the raffle.)

Mistletoe felt rather confused as she listed to the time raptor?. But she shrugged and held up a paw.
