If you'd like to share any, that would be cool! (-8 I meant to take some photos on Canada Day... but I tried something new... I wasn't sure if the fireworks would get high enough, but I drove up to the top of our firetower (I posted a couple videos I took there last summer...) and, you could only kind of see them, so we drove down the road and only caught the last half and it felt to rushed to dig out the camera again, (-8
...now it was actually very cool up there and I might go again for a different reason! While we couldn't see our own local city firework show, you could see all of the other people in the city setting off their own fireworks (and someone near one of the boat launches did a pretty nice show on their own!) Also, the part I found really cool was that we could see the big fireworks being set off in the next town over in Blind River. They were super tiny looking but kind of awesome that we could watch their display when they were about a 40 minute drive away! Also interesting was that the distance between the cities meant it was darker there first and they started their show long before ours!
I tired taking some photos of the Blind river ones, but I don't think they'll turn out and I haven't checked yet..

Ok so i really wanted to buy a pet rock but at first I didn't know who I would give it to. Then while looking through my sphinxes this scenario played out in my head. I thought it was absolutely perfect. it made me laugh and after that it was a done deal, I now had to get one. So I thought I would share it with you guys. It's under a spoiler cause it's long lol. Salana lounges on a cushion trying to enjoy her peace and quiet. when her ddaughter comes rushing in her loud voice breaking the silence.  "Mama! Mama!" Zaida yells as she screeches to a halt in front of her mother. Salana winches at the noise but takes a deep breath before responding. "Yes, Zaida. What is it?" Zaida looks at her full of hope and Salana begins to dread what her daughters response will be. "Mama, can I have a pet?!" Zaida asks excitedly."What?" Salana asks a bit surprised by the question. "Can I have a pet?" Zaida asks again.Salana ponders for a quick second but replies quickly. "I dont think that's a good idea right now." She says not wanting to be left with the burden of caring for the pet herself if her daughter can't manage it. This response sends Zaida into a frenzied reply talking faster then ever before. "But Mama, My cousin has a pet and she is only a little older then me. I really want one for myself and I promise I will take care of it and won't complain about anything and and you can even pick my pet! I just really really really want one! Please! Pretty please!" Salana stared at her daughter and tried to process and think over the things she said. "OK, so you want a pet but I can choose what it is and you won't complain?" Salana asks to make sure she heard it right. Zaida nods enthusiastically. Salana ponders again then smiles as she is struck with an idea. "You promise you won't complain and you will be happy with whatever I choose?" "Yes Mama." Zaida says smiling wildly. "OK, hold on then. Give me one moment." Salana got up from her cushion. Grabbed something from a drawer and went outside. Zaida wiggled as she attempted to sit and wait for her new pet. Wondering what pet her mom would bring back to her. After about 6 minutes, just when Zaida thought she wouldn't be able to wait any longer. Her mom returned. Salana smiled. " OK here is your new pet Zaida. Make sure you take care of it. Ok?" Zaida took what her mom had handed her. She looked at it for long moment.  Salana at first thought her daughter was disappointed as she watched her stare at the rock she had just handed her. She began thinking about what her next reaction would be if her daughter got upset. Thankfully though Zaida looked up at her with a wide grin. "Thank you mama! Thank you! I love him. He is soo cute!" She hugged the rock to her chest then looked at it again. "I'm going to name you...."
Zaida paused a bit pondering a name.. "Mr. Cookie!" She exclaimed brightly.  "I promise to take good care of you Mr.cookie." She said as she began to happily trot off with her new friend and pet in her arms. Salana smiled glad that it went over well and returned to once again lounge on her cushion and enjoy the quiet. |
