I saw this YouTube video that inspired me.
To say it comes from a YouTuber I've actually hated for years possibly made it make more of an impact on me.
I've been feeling myself mentally feeling completely burnt out but I want to get out of my own head and do something; however small, creative for myself.
I'm not a world class artist. I don't even pretend to be one on T.V. But I do want to learn!
So I present a silly little corner for anyone and everyone who wants to join me; a place to happily share your little doodles, your paintings, your writings, your hobbies.
I'm challenging myself to explore my creativity and grow skills in several areas (drawing, writing, polymer clay, watercolor, gauche/acrylic painting, etc) for the next 365 consecutive days. Anything big or small will count as exploration.
Hopefully others will find inspiration and join in!

I can tell you for a fact that this works! Nearly every year I take the 'Draw Everything June' challenge where every weekday you draw a picture based after a pose put up by the model who hosts it. Every time I do this challenge I notice that just within one month of doing this that my art improves. It's why I look forward to it every year (except I was too busy this year, so I had to skip it.) When people ask me how I can draw so well I point them towards the 1,000+ pictures in my DA gallery. That's why. Just good old practice.
Your art looks lovely Toxi. I'm super excited to see how this works out for you. <3 I'll be cheering you on!

Thankies! I'm sure it'd be more ... practical if I stuck with one medium of practice BUT I'm suffering under some serious carpal tunnel in my right hand (the dominate one) so I'm .... forced to swap about to avoid pain where I can.
BUT thankies and again. I invite anyone interested to join me! :D It shall be gloriously creative. <3 Speaking of... I did Day 3. >D
Correction: Day 2. XD

Day 3 Bad wrist day so I kept it short and light. Tried to follow a drawn tutorial online. I seemed better at going cartoony/doodly over real today.

I love that Phoenix!
Do you use any specific brushes or use a basic and alter sizes?

Sorry for the delay. I laid down for a nap.
The calligraphy is done with a pen tool. In Clip Studio the pen tool has a calligraphy setting so I used that for writing. The rest I used the pen tool to draw the lines, color the lines. The lines were set to 3
For the knotwork pen again. Colored in between the lines, removed the lines and then some careful coloring to fill in some spots The lines were set to 5 for this one. (I also turn on the grid for this part)
I have a book Sang bought me to help learn calligraphy, knotwork and illuminating text. Celtic Calligraphy by Kerry Richards

Phoenix Stardancer -- That's awesome. I've heard of Clip Studio a couple times now. (I think Wolfrysk mentioned it once to me then I heard alot about it from another friend and now Youtube). How do you like it as an art program? It sounds like it has some good brushes in it for starting! Also, if you don't mind my curiousness, what type of tablet do you use? Or do you do it by mouse? And that book sounds great! I'd considered learning calligraphy in the future but I think my reasoning was more because I've seen a lot of tutorial artists on YT using a ... Speedball ink pen/nib with ink for lining. Which.. if I ever get decent enough will be another avenue I need to wander down. BUT love it!<3 Mr. Pooka -- Thank you Mr. Pooka. ^^ I promised I'd share my watercolor tests and so I have. I will be honest, I like the little fruits best. XD Especially my little mango. Possibly because hubby's response when I showed him was, "OH look.. its a mango." XD Which means my from memory didn't muddle my colors SO bad. I do need to get my watercolors out for some more practice. I've been leery because of my right wrist issues. But yessss if/when you want share your art project with us! <3 <3 Not a happy note but a preface for tomorrow's post... turns out are being made worse because of 1. job (completely computer based) and 2. my desire to draw/color/paint. q.q All that to say I'm prolly going to need to take a break for several days on drawing/painting and maybe just focus on writing (because I can dictate the thoughts and rest my wrist.)

Day 4 Today my wrist is worse. And I realized while trying to softly sketch that it's probably not helping to try and draw. BUT I gave this a full 40 minutes to slowly and carefully doodle. I kinda like the fang-y skull but I know it's not anatomical in the least. It IS a tiny bit less cartoony. Progress! ^^

Speedball ink pen/nib with ink for lining. Which.. if I ever get decent enough will be another avenue I need to wander down. BUT love it!<3 I have enjoyed Clip Studio. It does have a good range of brushes on it and moves fairly smoothly. It also has what is calls decoration as a tool, that has things like sparkle, bloodstain, and petals in it. Admit I keep Krita though as I find adjusting image size and cropping far easier in that program, but otherwise I do everything through Clip Studio. It even has limited animating ability in tthe Paint version. I believe Pro has unlimited animating in it. I wanted to learn knotwork and discovered that book. Sang bought for me after I kept checking it out from the library. It led me to really wanting to play with calligraphy as well. I do actually use a tablet. Sang bought it for me actually it's a 2020 HUION Kamvas 13. He went through a lot of trouble making sure it was compatible with my computer.
