What is being healthy to you? To me it is an all around life balance... but that is a tall order to start with sometimes, so I personally am planning on using this thread to get started with a few things that need to change for me! First on the list is getting rid of some of the weight I've been regaining the last few years. This thread might also be a bit all over the place for a while as I/we figure out what plans will help with our goals! Tommorow is Feb 1st and I am going to start using this thread as a food and excercize journal for myself, and anyone and everyone is welcome to use if for the same or more! There was a bit of a conversation about this on PI and there are lots of people who mentioned that they want... something... and here will be a great place to figure that out! We got stalkers of every shape, size, age and health levels but everyone can use a bit of help to reach their goals, wether it is to loose 5 pounds, or a hundred pounds, or just walk more, or sleep better or eat better ect... the list or what ifs can go on and on, (-8
So I'm officially all over the place already, (-8 Tommorow I will start posting a food and exercise journal to at least get started, and I think I will also start off with some type of reasonable goals as well... and I'll go on from there!

Definitely think this is a worth while thread! To me being healthy has more to do with being happy with my life. I know for me I haven't always struggled with my weight like most. (Though I will admit I could stand to loose a pound here or there. BUT I like where I am in that regard.) For me its important to be happy because I've silently struggled with a few addictions, and some major depression here and there that affects my addictions. And usually once I get into a funk it takes me several months to get out of it. I know Cam depressed? -lol- Hard to see through the computer really. But I do struggle with it, and I think that's one of the biggest steps, or at least that's what I've been told. Admitting it. Everyone has their own demons. I don't doubt that some days I need help, but I'm a severely stubborn individual and don't like accepting help from really anyone. This unfortunately includes my boy friend, and I can see how what I'm going through effects him. And how it tears him up to see me struggle like I do, but I always insist on doing things on my own. Personally I hope to maybe come up with a list here to remind myself of why I'm glad to be living. Maybe if I have a visual (ie. a written list) it may help me see the good things, and I can pull myself out a lot easier than just waiting for time to move. Not to mention a supportive community may be what I need. ^^

You really posted a lot of my own reflections there Cameron! I really do get the same way, getting stuck in sort of inexplicable funks... not really sad or depressed or anything in particular, just ... blahs. I'm also extrememly terrible at sharing my own personal stuff and am prone to just keeping absolutly everything to myself. This does really give me a lot of great ideas though, that hopefuly will be useful for anyone who is interested. The last couple of years I went back to college for Social Service Work, and in the process I learned a lot of different programs, concepts, exercises ect for all types of better living and well being that I'd be absolutly happy to share with everyone! Everything from simple checklists to help you understand yourself better to extremly specific examples like dealing with various forms of mental illness. It's not like I'm working atm so I should put some of this textbook stuff to work!
Ah, it can be hard for me to get started with stuff like this but I'm ready to put a full effort in (-8 starting with posting my food journals... at first they will at least help me track my good/bad habits so I can aim for something healthier...
(also someday I'll even spend some time putting this much effort into learning how to spell (-8)

sounds good.. I'll go through some of my stuff and pull out some of the really good stuff (at least what I thought was good!)... There was a good medicine wheel project for self assessment for example, and the concepts you've already started on are similar to one of my fav 'helping' concepts called 'strengths perspective'... I think its a great and powerful tool, (-8

ah, I already got a bit behind on my food diary, but its been a bit of a messed up week for eating and exercise anyways... one of me teeth broke a few months ago and has been really painful the last few weeks, so I havn't been eating much of anything and def not in the mood for working out... but I've saved enough to get it pulled (whats left of it, I won't go into horrid detail!) on tuesday, so I should be back to a regular schedule once I get that take out...

I think to be being healthy has to do with how you are, how you feel about yourself. Not so much as to how much or how little you eat, but what it is that you eat. I think eating a bit of food at each meal and not skipping any meal helps you to not be hungry, and to eat a bit at a time not a whole lot at on meal because you are hungry and missed one.
