Saliha pinned her ears slightly back as yet another pair of cubs, this time accompanied by a female, approached their corner of the park. There was now more cubs in the area than she cared to count. So much for finding a nice quiet corner. Saliha sighed and resigned herself to the situation.
Her ears perked forward again once she realize the new female had a dragon hatchling attached to her as well. Tia must have noticed, too, because she immediately perked up, and sat up on her haunches as the new dragonet approached her.
"Heyla!" Tia replied to the other dragon enthusiastically. "You're like me!" she exclaimed, sounding surprised to find another of her kind here. "I am known as Tia'nyn," the hatchling formally introduced herself to her new friend, and immediately, a strong sort of purr began in the back of her throat, a noise she made when she was supremely happy. All the cubs were, for the moment, completely forgotten.
Saliha turned her attention back to the female sphinx who seemed to be bonded to this hatchling. She had appeared to lay down next to the male Crio, the father of the first cub, Kafele, as if they were mates. Saliha wondered if she were this cub's mother. Well. That would make sense, then, as to why the cub had shown absolutely no fear or restraint when he first approached Tia.
Saliha kept her eyes on the cubs that tussled with each other in front of her, but her ears caught the words of the Crio as he suddenly missed seeing the cubs.
"Not to worry," Saliha called back to the Crio. "Your boys are over here."

((Just a note; in my last post it was Vadim, the cub, who asked if Erinyes and Megaera were dragons. Not Badru, the magician.))
Vadim beamed as Erinyes and Megaera confirmed in unison that they were part dragon. "I knew it! Mamma vas not tellink story...Sphinx can be part drakon!" As he grew more excited his accent thickened and his tail lashed furiously against the grass. His gaze flickered back and forth between the cubs and their father, slowly growing somewhat bewildered at Izanagi's horrified look, then puzzled as Magaera mentioned another term for their father that they weren't allowed to say. He filed this away to ask his adoptive mother about later.
Behind him, Vadim could hear Badru grumbling to himself. "How much trouble can two cubs be she asks? They're lovely boys she says. They- Wait...two... Drakos!" The sound of a beak clacking in frustration, and when the cub risked a glance over his shoulder, Badru was charging back off after Drakos, who appeared to be in the process of gleefully swallowing a worm. With an eye roll that said volumes about little brothers and easily ruffled magicians, Vadim turned his attention back to the dragon-cubs in front of him. "Your fazzer iss full drakon zh...er...then? Not zhen..."
The cub stopped, frowning slightly as he appeared to realize for the first time that he'd been slipping into a heavier and heavier accent. He hadn't quite decided if he wanted to have his mother's accent. Almost no one else in the city seemed to have it and it just drew attention to him, and sometimes confusion.

(( opps >_>’ lol, I have no idea how I got Vadim and Badru confused))
Erinyes and Magaera grinned as Vadim became more excitable at hearing they was part dragon before Erinyes noticed Vadim’s attention went to staring at their father with a bewilder look and couldn’t help but to snicker while Magaera full out laughed. Trying to reign in her laughter Magaera spoke “Ignore our papa, he can be a bit strange sometimes.” Hearing someone else talking the two quickly looked towards the Hieroco who seemed to be talking to himself and watched as he seem to realize something and take off. Both blinked confused before turning their attention back to the male cub. What he spoke next had them both trying to figure out what he said. Erinyes pointed to her father and nodded. “ Yes, he is full dragon.” “But we didn’t understand the rest of your question” finished Magaera smiling.
Izanagi just watched on as the male Hieroco seemed to forget one of his cubs and would have laughed if he wasn’t stuck with two cubs as well. At least they seem to be getting along with this other cub he guessed, since it meant less work for him having to watch the two females.

(ooc: I'd like to apologize for this reply taking so long! Its been a bit rough lately, but I should be good now!)
Astennu giggled and hopped off Kafele, nudging his brother with his snout. "I was gentle! Mostly..." Reaching down, he used his paw to smooth down Kafele's mane. "We missed you today. Have you been having fun? Who's that? Is she nice? She has a dragon. Dragons are nice. I like Cali... she irritates papa though. I wonder if this one would irritate him to. Maybe. It seems nice too. And~" Astennu continued to ramble on about the qualities of the amazon and her dragon, head lifting as he lifted his, counting his toes on one paw using the other as he listed off more qualities, unaware he was probably getting a bit incessant.
As for Ahmose, he bleated pathetically as he moved his short, chubby legs as fast as they could go, stumbling once on his way to his brothers. Finally making it, he plunked himself down at Kafele's feet, murring and nuzzling into his older brother in greeting.
Caligosa's attention was drawn for just a moment as her three charges settled, but quickly she looked back to Tia, the same purr, albeit a bit higher pitched, rumbled forth from her small chest. "I am called Caligosa." Bowing her head in greeting, she shifted herself closer to her fellow dragon, head tilting as she looked to the female sphinx that Tia seemed to be bonded to. "Is she yours?"
Kesi seethed, nipping at Shakir's shoulder sharply, but not enough to draw blood. "Of course you didn't, you were asleep!" She was about to continue when Shakir asked where the boys were, and before she could answer, the amazon chimed in. Turning slowly, Kesi offered a smile to the other female, walking toward her slowly - though she made sure to smack Shakir on the snout with her tail before approaching - as she spoke. "Thank you. I'm sorry if they were bothering you. My name is Kesi, this is my mate, Shakir and our sons." She looked past the boys and to the two dragons. "I see your dragon has met mine already."

Vadim cast one more bemused look at Izanagi before turning his attention back to Erinyes and Magaera. As the two took it in turn to say that they didn't fully understand him, the boy seemed to shrink, hunching his shoulders and tucking his head back between them, looking somewhat sulky. "Iss moz-mother's fault. She vo-won't..." Pausing to shake his head and change track slightly he continued. "She talks...different from everyvun else. I don't want to but..." Trailing off, the cub couldn't find the words to continue without sounding terribly whiny. He wanted to be like others. His mother was...well liked, yeah, but he wanted to blend in more, to not have the exotic accent. But he'd learned to speak from her and it was...hard to break the habits. One paw scuffed at the ground, with Vadim staring at it as though it was the most important thing in the world, though mostly to avoid eye contact now that he was feeling so self conscious and embarrassed.
Meanwhile Badru was only barely aware of Vadim, mostly that he was still where he'd been left for once. Most of his attention was on his own flesh and blood, with a little wincing bit spared to take note of Kesi's rage at Shakir. He certainly didn't want to wind up in the crio's sandals, and to that end...he'd better have both cubs well under his gaze if and when Mina brought herself out to join them.
When the magician had reached Drakos, it was just in time to watch the end of a large worm vanish down the boy's throat and for the cub to meep happily up at him and flutter those tiny wings, well pleased with his own hunting skills. With a resigned sigh (at least worms were...well, not too bad for cubs at least) Badru scooped the youngster up and looked at him. A scrap of cloth was produced to dust the grit off the tiny beak, and Drakos was deposited back on his back with a muttered rejoinder to stay put. Feeling rather bedraggled after only a short time with the cubs, Badru plodded back towards Vadim and the draconic Sphinx family.

Stepping through the gateway into the park, Moswen pulled her cart to a halt under the shade provided by several nearby palm trees. This was much, much better than the streets. Plenty of room for her set-up and no guards to shoo her away for suspected pick-pocketing. As if she had the time for that while running this booth! Little Emuishere hopped down from atop the covered bundle as Moswen came around to the back of the cart and started to pull a strange wooden board with thin wooden spokes sticking out of one side out and onto the grass. It was a bit bulky and more than a little awkward to move, but that just allowed her to make something of a show of it in the hopes of attracting customers; curiosity could be a great motivator. Having settled the board into place Moswen stood at the edge and then walked forward six carefully counted paces. Flexing one claw, she dug a straight furrow into the grass, marking the distance with a dirt line. “All right, Emuishere, go get them,” she said with a grin, sending her little cat off with a playful bound to pull Sphinxes’ attention her way. “Come one, come all!” Moswen leapt up onto a nearby rock and projected her voice over the relative quiet of the park. “Don’t just sit there - there are games to play and prizes to be won! All it costs is one copper coin! One measly little coin for three chances at winning! Don’t be shy; step up, step up!” ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ((And so starts the second carnival game of the role play! It’s basically a game of ring toss, but I’ll give further instructions once sign ups are complete.)) Rules borrowed from wolfrysk! Rules:1. Only the people who are currently in this thread as of the time of this post are eligible (list is posted below) 2. As per our current set up, you may only win ONE toy, and TWO trinkets per person, not character. 3. If you are going to play, you MUST RP out your Sphinx taking their turn and actually playing the game (not a very good RP game if you don't, is it? ) 4. One entry per person. All your Sphinxes can "play" in these games, but you must choose only one to enter. 5. Have fun! How To Enter:Simply RP your chosen Sphinx approaching Moswen and ‘paying’ for their three rings. No real payment (such as pg or bp) is actually necessary; this is just fake Khemet-world money that you can create out of thin air. But somewhere in your character’s post they must give her a coin – that makes their entry official! I’ll take sign ups until 2:30 2012-05-08 PI time (that's just a bit less than 4 hours from now), and after that I’ll post instructions on how to play the game. The game will run over night so that will hopefully give everyone a chance to make their participation post! ------------------------- Potential participants (people/characters already in the thread at start of signups):Bjjlilly with Chanelle Ariya Eretsee with Akh'Ka or Ieb'Ka'She hybridsiren with Vell Ori with Badru and Vadim and Drakos melodysangel with Tikal springacres with Ankhu Toxi with Shakir and Kafele gigglingaxe with Goaz moonlily with Saliha ayaka with Izanagi and Erinyes and Megaera wolfrysk with Kesi and Astennu and Ahmose

Tia'nyn nodded happily at Caligosa. "Yes, for a little while now. She is a good bond." Tia scratched at the rock with her claws in her excitement at making a new friend. "And that one is yours?" She chirped, but didn't need an answer, as the female sphinx in question made her way over to them and introduced herself.
Saliha smiled politely at the tamer as she apologized for the cubs. "Oh..." she replied, "They were no bother." Which, after all, was the truth. "You have a beautiful family," she added, which was also the truth. "My name is Saliha, and this is Tia'nyn."
Just then, she heard a call from across the park, and spied a vendor setting up a cart. The vendor laid out some sort of game on the grass, and seemed to be looking for volunteers.
"Hmmm," she mused out loud, inspecting the many protruding spikes of wood. "Possibly a game of aiming?" If it was, that could be right up her alley, so to speak. "Tia, shall we go see what it is?"
But Tia looked crestfallen to be taken away from her new dragonet friend.
"Here, you can stay here if you like, and I shall go check it out. Excuse me," Saliha apologized to Kesi, before stretching, and climbing down from her resting rock. She fully trusted Tia was safe, and if she needed her, Saliha would not be far.
Approaching the vendor cautiously, Saliha dug into her belt purse for a coin, and tossed it at the vendor.
"What sort of game is this?" She inquired. "It looks interesting."

((If Erinyes and Magaera go over to the game as well then Vadim will probably join them. If not, then Badru and Drakos will play and Vadim will just stay talking with the girsl.))
Before Badru could make it back to where he'd left Vadim, his son suddenly started cooing and scrabbling to get down off his back. At first the magician only shifted, trying to hold the cub in place, but slowly the oh too familiar chirp of, "Kit-kit-kit-kitty!" began. With a sigh he turned to see what Drakos had found now. So many cats around, now more than ever. Not that he had anything against cats! He was quite fond of his own, and they were honored creatures. Just...it made it hard to go anywhere with Drakos, who seemed to be going through a cat obsessed phase and wanted to go visit with every one he saw.
This time it seemed to be a playful spotted cat who had caught the cub's eye. The little creature was frolicking away from a booth where a thief was setting up for a game. Even as he watched she began to call out for players. A glance over at Vadim showed the boy still contentedly sitting with the other young ones (or well...he looked a bit shy, but he was a growing boy, getting to that awkward stage of life, so this was as good as expected) and not looking to go anywhere. The game booth wasn't that far away...he could keep an eye out still.
After scanning the park for any sign of Mina appearing, he turned his steps towards the booth instead. "Look-look Drakos, the kitty wants you to play the game! Don't you want to play the game?"
With an inquisitive chirr his son looked away from Emuishere and towards his father. "Kit-kit g'me?"
"Yes, yes, kitty game, see?" One eye on his son, he fished a copper coin out of his sash and handed it to Moswen. "Let the nice lady tell you how to play the game for the kitty."

Ankhu gave a final twirl away from the tamarisk tree and stopped. The pattern felt complete... as complete as it had ever felt for him here, anyway.
"Beltane just isn't the same here," he mused as he padded back over to Taranis. "It's never been the same. Maybe my place is among my father's people after all." The dog opened one lazy eye to look at his master, then wagged his stump of a tail and rolled over on his back. Ankhu obligingly scratched the upturned belly with both forepaws, and Taranis wiggled and grunted in delight.
The wiggling and grunting stopped a few seconds later, however, as a new scent caught the white Rottweiler's nose. Meat! With an excited yip he rolled out from under his master's paws, got to his feet and trotted off after the delicious scent, looking back every so often to make sure his master was following. Experience had taught him that it was better to wait and let his master put shiny-things out first, and waiting for delicious meat was HARD!
Ankhu's long strides allowed him to quickly catch up to Taranis, which was just as well. The crowd had definitely gotten bigger in the time he'd been dancing, and Tar, while docile, was still big enough to startle people.
Fortunately, Tar headed straight for the meat vendor. Ankhu purchased a large hambone for his pet and a string of sausages for himself; pattern dancing was hungry work compared to scribing!
He had just settled down in a nice quiet spot and taken a bite of sausage when he heard Moswen's call. Games and prizes sounded good, and soon Ankhu was over at her wagon, handing over coins for three large, solid rings.

Erinyes and Magaera noticed Vadim seem to shrink back and explain to them about his way of speech. Erinyes couldn’t help but look sadly at the male when he seemed to be embarrassed and patted Vadim on the head. Watching her sister Erinyes wanted to help cheer the male cub up as well. “Aw! Don’t feel embarrassed, I think your speech is cute!” Erinyes couldn’t help but to giggle after what she said. “My sister is right! I like the way you talk so don’t change it!” Magaera said with a wide smile on her face as she still patted Vadim on the head again. Izanagi noticed the Hieroco looked as if he was coming their way but that wasn’t the case as he seem to turn back to what appeared to be his son. Before he could say anything to, in his opinion, way to talkative cubs a female voice was heard. Looking in the direction of the voice Izanagi noticed a female thief and her cat with what appeared to be a vender with games and such. He quickly frowned and looked towards his two cubs to see glee in their eyes. “I suppose I have to take you over there now don’t I?”
The two sisters nodded their head excitedly which made Izanagi roll his eyes before getting up and walking over to the Female thief vendor and tossing her a cooper coin from his pouch before pointing to his cubs. “One of them will play”. Erinyes watched as her sister ran after their father to the vendor and quickly grabbed Vadim’s paw and dragged him with her over to the vendor. “Hurry, there are games!”

Smiling as she slipped the offered coins into her purse, Moswen happily pulled out her bag of rings from inside the cart and began to pass them out to the paying participants. "All you have to do is stand behind this line I've marked, and give your rings a toss at the board!" Taking an extra ring, she stood behind the line and gave it a light throw in order to demonstrate for the younger cubs. For a moment it looked like it might drop too short, but just at the last moment it caught on one of the spokes at the bottom. "Just takes a little luck!" She smiled encouragingly, and motioned for the first player to come up to the line. -------------------------------------------------- ((OOC: This is going to work a bit like wolfrysk's game of Pin-the-tail. Normally with ring toss you have a board with all the spokes equidistant from each other which you can see, obviously, but that doesn't quite work for a game on the forums. So, I'm posting a blank board and a transparent image of a ring. Take the ring image and place it three times anywhere you like on the board. Once game time has run out, I'll overlay your ring/board images onto the image I've already made up with the 'spokes' (basically just dots). In order to score a point, you must get a ring around a spoke. Doesn't need to be dead-center, just so long as the inside edge of the ring doesn't touch the spoke. Each successfully thrown ring gives you one point. The person/character with the most points at the end wins. If there are ties, we'll use random to decide the order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd - although since it's a small group everybody who plays will get something. ^^ If you have any questions or having trouble with the images, feel free to ask here OOC or PM me on PI!)) Play board:Ring!Try not to laugh to hard - circles are hard! XD Players who have entered have until 2012-05-09 | 03:15 PI time!

Saliha stepped up to take her turn. Focusing on the spikes, and taking careful aim, she tossed her three rings at the board. ((Sorry for lack of RP, turns out i have to leave for the day, and wanted to get it posted.))

Ankhu took his turn next. He stepped up to the line, took careful aim, and slung his three rings in quick succession at the spikes. He was glad Tar was busy with his hambone; the dog liked to play fetch, and Ankhu would have had a hard time keeping him from chasing the rings over the counter. {{OOC: Sorry for the lack of RP, wanted to get this done before I left for work and it took me a bit to figure out how to move layers in GIMP. Seems so obvious now...}}

Chanelle looked over to see Vell take flight. He was so much more graceful in the air than she was. Of course, Nel assumed that Vell had years of practice with his wings, whereas she had only gotten hers less than a month ago. She sat there, shoulders hunched, and waited for Vell to arrive on the ledge where she had recently crash-landed.

Letting out a gasp as Chanelle takes a plummet out of the sky, Vell's heart races as does his wings as he tries to catch up to her to try to catch her out of the air. Letting out a huge sigh of relief when she manages to just fall onto a roof top, he slows down his paniced heart as he makes his way over towards her. She didn't flap her wings, why didn't she just glide on them? A puzzled look for a moment, it changes as he lands on the rooftop.
Making his way over to her, his voice comes out with much concern. "Are you alright, Nel? A saw that fall you took, did you get hurt at all?" He offers his paw to her, now having one wing loosely against his back, and the other practically reaching out to wrap around her. The light blue markings pulsate with a glow quickly before the glow leaves once more. "If you want to go back.. I'll beat back that thief for you. But.. but maybe we should try to enjoy the festival, if you're alright? I think I heard a game beginning.."
