O: guild, friends, looking for group (guild wise, to see who is on click on list by activity)
L: Quest Journal
C: Character Sheet
M: Large Map
X: Experience Report
V: Hide Names
P: Adventure Compendium
J: get rid of quest tracking box
T: toggle camera to mouse
R: auto run in one direction

Congrats you survived a ship wreak in a skirt and tank what will you do now? (other than attempt to eat the rogue's brain or possess him)
Follow the rogue, pick a weapon (one is usually given to you automatically)
Press I for inventory and double click to equip. continue following the quest line.
Oh, you feel a draft ..yes more than the normal draft in your rags.
click the magnifying glass to do a search for a hidden door. At higher levels you might need to level or buy items that enhance your search/perception to find the doors.
Congrats you reached the end and found a treasure chest with handy dandy (moldy) armor, that you can exchange for your drafty rags. The cleric will also give you an item you can pick.
Npcs: give you ONE item to pick
Treasure Chests: you can take everything
Items with a yellow "!" will give you an armor/attack/casting penalty since they are not for your class exactly.
Items with a red "X" can not be used at all.
Items without either of those can be used normally without a penalty.
Gems/jewel are just to be sold to vendors.
Congrats! you have reached Korthos Island.
Red circle(crossed swords): Hirelings. Buy an npc group mate to do quests with, without an exp penalty. Activate their scroll at the beginning of the instance to summon them.
Gold chalice(gold cups): Active quests you can pick up (red chalice/cup: you're to low for that quest)
Gold Door: the instance for the quest you picked up from the gold chalice.
Green Circle: The tavern, regain HP and MP quickly here. Also bind to the area (if you die, you can return here if you have bound yourself)
-Binding: inside the Tavern there is a Soul Binder, talk to them to bind to that tavern. Do this for every new area you will be working in.
Orange Circles ( blue leaf): Class Trainers. train your skills for every action point and level you reach. Exp is mainly given by completing goals in an instance.. not so much by killing mobs.
Filling the Exp bar fills up one blue ball, giving you an action point to raise a skill/ability with.
5 blue balls is a level up
Pink Circle: if you are in a hurry to get to Stormreach ( and a mail box) you can talk to the npc here and skip the quest chain. You can come back later if you want.
Coin: General Vendor
Go to vendors to fix your items. During instances your items are worn and can eventually break. always repair them after every instance..unless you like seeing your armor break so you're fighting a mob in your underwear XD (also try to keep 3-4 pieces of armor as back up.... exactly for that reason. Or have a repair skill/class)
Traps:
You or your hireling will be able to spot traps before they activate. If you have a disabling skill you can do a search for the Trap box and disable the trap, with will need the item "thieves tools" in your inventory. Sold by a vendor or dropped in instances.
Before being picked
After being picked
The Harbor:
Parchment(by hirelings(orange circle)): Mail
Money Bag: bank (you can save some items here)
Hammer: broker: you can buy/bid for items other players are selling or sell your own.
Yellow Crosses: Large Instances. Waterworks and Corthos
Lower left hand corner: Green star: Stormreach Market entrance (good for 3+ quests)
Learning Spells: (Wizard, Clerics, etc. some restricted classes)
scroll: (can be bought from a vendor in stormreach market, in the broker, or found in treasure chests during instances)
go to a Apocarthy or reagent seller
Depending on the level of the spell scroll you have(remember should not have have red or yellow warning on it), you might need a lvl 1 spell inscription or lvl 2 spell inscription.
Arcane: Wizard, Sorc, etc
Divine: Cleric, Soul, etc
( lvl 3 spells inscription powder is sold at the stormreach market (you need to be lvl 5 for those))
Once you buy the powder; click the scroll once and click your skill "Inscribe "class(Wizard)" Scroll"
the skill will look like a feather.
The skill is then inscribe and you can switch to it(from your character sheet>spells) while at a inn or rest point.
Health (HP) Potions and others:
The vendor is also inside the Apocarthy store.
Stormreach Market:
Purple:The Dragonmark houses. Quests can be found there and in taverns. usually 5+ quests.
Blue: Quest areas 6+
Orange: portals to other areas.
Guild:
The guild the Pookas own (Wayward Wanderers) is high ranked enough to own its own airship..::coughs:: so we will be taking advantage of that.
Airship:
Entrance to airship
Talk to The captain to be sent to any of these places. (look around the ship, lots of statues give temporary enhancements)
They have a plank ...
Maybe a little look...
Just a closer one..... oh wait... I don't have wings in this game! AHHH!!
Oh good... I just fell in the harbor.
In short, jumping off the ship lands you in the water of the harbor.
Death.... or is it? Falling from a big height will kill you (unless you're landing in water)
A:jumps off cliff: wheee!!! ....ow ::dead::
In cities, if you die don't automatically press release. Wait and you will be revived automatically.
A:::gets up:: oww.... you saw nothing guard guy ... just walk it off.. walk it off. ::mutters as walks away limping and phasing in and out::
As my lvl 4 hireling cleric said
"Good thing death isn't permanent" or something like that (after he died and I rezzed him at a resurrection/rest stone area >.>
Unfortunately, I was unable to get a good screenshot, so adjusted another one.
There are two types of death:
-If you "die"/injured, like in the picture above. Then there is a chance you will revive if you wait long enough. In some instances there will be a dice roll to "stop bleeding" If you hit one success you will revive after a bit,
- if you keep hitting failures and reach -10 then you are truly dead and you will appear as a ghost with a soul stone near by. Your teammates(unless there is a high level cleric with resurrection skill) or hireling will have to carry your soulstone back to the rest/resurrection stone area. (or you can release and restart the whole instance again)
Dieing many times without visiting a tavern or rest stone will give you negative death buffs. Also remember to repair your items every time you die.
Hirelings:
There are many different types, but I will just talk about the most general skill. (Bias since the only one I usually pick is cleric)
1: Order your Hireling to stand their ground
2: Order your hireling to come to you, if they can't reach you they will teleport (handy..)
3:(crossed swords) Your hireling will choose what to do; fight(go go tank), heal(itself, you, your summon, other teammate), watch you fight while eating popcorn, heal at the last few seconds after you reach 0 hp. last two might be a bug but it has happened...(minus the popcorn)
4: Order your hireling to defend you. They will mainly heal, and attack now and then.
5: Order your companion to be passive: They is do nothing
6: (gears)
order your companion to interact with your current target. Very useful skill.
If you need to have a door opened which is not in your skill level, your hireling might be able to open it.
Also if you die and they survive, you can order your companion to pick up your soulstone and lead them back to the rest/resurrection stone area of the instance (if you found it prior ) so you can be resurrected.
7-10: class specific skills. you can target who you want healed/attacked and order the hireling to cast/use that skill.
Patrons and Items:
Adventure Compendium>Patrons
Every Quest you do successfully nets you points with different groups.
For example the coin lords:
You start out with 0 points and suspicious. As you gain points you gain "levels" upgrading to Reliable. When you hit reliable there is a quest that appears to go to a specific coin lord in the Stormreach Market.
He will expand your inventory another bag.
Other npcs will give you bags as well. That is to keep quest items, gems and other things out of your main inventory bag. But these extra bags have a item limit of about 12 items.. then it starts throwing things back into your inventory.
Quest items for example: "mushroom" that you find in instances are wanted by different type of collectors in the city. They are the ones marked with a small grey pyramid. They give you different items in exchange for your items.
Levels:
1-2: Korthos Island is a good place to level and the harbor
lvl 3-4: The harbor, start trying to complete the waterworks instance (red circle) You can repeat by talking to the npc inside the water works and asking to repeat the quest. Very good Exp and items lvl 3-5 Lower left hand corner: Green star: Stormreach Market entrance (good for 3+ quests)
Lvl 6+: Gwylan's Stand (from another guide)
Monsters:
Slime: use blunt weapons, magic or martial arts(hand wrap weapon) on them otherwise they corrode your weapon. (Or be mean and have your hireling take care of it)
Wizard/cleric etc: can also use celestial dog from the summon monster 1 spell.
Extra:
Quests: the first time you run a quest (other than solo) it is normal. Talk to the npc who gave the quest to run it again and Hard should be unlock. Run it on hard then talk to the npc who gave it to run it a third time and Elite should be unlocked.
If you have the skill "summon monster" use it during hard instances, the extra dps is good as a "tank"(cleric hireling will heal them) and on slimes.
Ghosts: Spirits seem to have 50% chance of you hitting or missing them. Ghost touch weapons ignore that percentage and attacks them normally.
<.< >.> ::phases::
Tanking: if a boss is killing you in a few hits, try to order your hireling to attack first and wait for them to take aggro before attacking.
LoS: line of sight. just as you can't hit a mob because a rock is in the way, they can't hit you either if a pillar is in the way. Use that to your advantage until your hireling can take aggro.
Quest hint:
for the lvl 2 quest that requires stealth. I suggest using invisibility(not hide) potion/skill on yourself and just running through until you reach the glass bead at the end(no hireling). Prophets can see you, but they usually run off to warn the others. once the main quest is complete(picking up the glass bead) you can finish the optional quest of killing 24 mobs without having to worry about the 6 prophet limit.
$ packs:
Lvl 5+ quests: Deleria's Tomb in Jorasco. Very good EXP and Items ( Info given by pookawitch)
