Hiya! I'm looking to make a list of anime series (English Dub mostly) for my twin nieces to watch and grow up with. Currently they are 5 years old and LOVE the few anime I've shown to them. I'll include a list of already seen/love series to help -- but coming up with others that would be good and age appropriate for them is the goal. THOUGH, if you really want to suggest something new for me -- (I'm 26 btw) I wouldn't mind that so much either. And those can be the Japanese versions as well. I enjoy both. ^^ (As long as I can read the subtitles while watching.. XD) And now.. the list. Kidlets: Have Seen/Love - Sailormoon <3, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, Secret World of Arriety, and that's it so far. To Show/Watch - Card Captors, Pretear, Inu Yasha, Escaflowne, DBZ, Fairy Tale, Fushigi Yugi, Last Exile, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Vandread (because they wont get the jokes.. yet. XD) Oh, and if you're suggesting for me -- just make a note so I know. XD I'll make my own list to research and watch. Mmmmm Anime.

Well, as I mentioned in the thread I know two that you haven't seen now.
Note that these are not quite kids anime though, I'm putting them here more for you. lol But we did let our son watch them when he was younger, supervised, because like many anime comedies have adult humour.
Urusei Yatsura - It's a classic! Made by the same creator of Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha. It's, well not really for kids. Basically it's about a womanizing teenage boy who is randomly chosen through a lottery to be the one to stop an alien invasion of earth. He gets there to discover that he has to face this challenge with a race where he needs to grab the horns on the head of the cute alien oni girl Lum. By the end of the first episode he accidentally proposes to her, and much hilarity ensues. It's a really popular (old) series and pretty darned funny. Lum is so heart warming.
Saber Marionette J - How would I classify this series? It kinda has everything from magical girl, to robot maid, to single guy in a harem, to action, to fantasy, to romance, to comedy... it's kinda amazing. It's more on the lighter side with comedy, but can fall pretty serious quickly at times. The setting is in the future when Earth became so ruined that a space ship left to find another planet to live on, but an accident happened and only 6 men survived. They used cloning to try and populate the earth but found that with their own DNA they couldn't replicate females. To fill in the gap they made unintelligent robot women (only because they couldn't figure out how to replicate an AI). Many of Earth's countries are represented, like New Texas, Geltland, etc. The series takes place in Japones with the hero Otaru when he comes across and wakes up a super powered robot marionette with an advanced AI. It's a really, really good series and I highly recommend it. Honestly, this little blurb does nothing to describe how amazing it is. It's one of those series that in a quick summary seems either silly or uninteresting, but anybody I have ever known or read about who started watching it just loved it.
Not really for kids either.

One of my faves and one I'm sure your nieces will love is Yumeiro Patissiere. It's about a girl who goes to a cooking school to learn to become a pastry chef. I'm sure they'll love it. There's plenty of episodes to keep you busy and a short follow up series Yumeiro Patissiere SP Professional.
