EDIT by Mr. Pooka... we are still hammering out the rules from an older system I've written so some of them may change, but please have fun with this and don't feel intimidated by any of the rules! I'm hoping that this system will encourage roleplaying help players find motivation or inspiration to develop characters, not create limits!

How to Join and Play Along
1. Create a new thread with your characters name in the title!
2. Show your character going through each of the 5 steps of the Rank 1 prompts. You may do this through pictures/drawings/illustrations, comics, roleplaying or storytelling. Quality is important and we would like to see genuine effort put into the Rank objectives! *Find more notes below on quality.
3. Steps 1-5 do not need to be done in order.
4. Label your Rank posts with the Rank lvl and Rank objective in the title. (for example, Sesh fights off an Assassin - Sesh Rank 2.3)
5. Once you've completed all 5 steps of a Rank you must post in the Rank Completion Thread. Simply post the title of your other thread with a link and some sort of note (like "look what Sesh did here!"). Someone from the team (probably Mr. Pooka) will PM you and as long as everything looks good you can pick your prize from the prize pool, (-8
Other Rules and FAQ
~ You may only have two characters involved in the Sphinx Stories system at a time. If a character completes every current Rank in one chain you may add another character. (this limit may change after we see how things go...) This is currently the only way to add new characters to the system. You may not swap characters in and out.
~ You may not use other players characters without permission. Other players are encouraged to participate though and are encouraged to collaborate with others to work their characters into others stories/Rank Objectives. There will be a list of NPC characters you are allowed to use in your stories and you may make up NPCs as needed within reason (peasants and lvl 2's are usually fair game, but ask permission for others please). For collaborations, each participant still needs to create a different entry for their levels (with the exception of role-plays).
~ Sphinx characters may not be killed in RP without item use. (for example you want your character to become a vampire during one of your Rank objectives. You may use a Hand of Darkness contract and a Cup of Blood items during the RP if you own these items.)
~ Entries must be created for use with this Faction system and you may not enter already created works for your steps. (ie. you cannot use pictures/RPs/stories etc. that you have already written or used for your characters entries)
~ Upon gaining your first Rank 1 completion your character will gain a new stamp and become untradeable. This is to ensure that you are using personal characters you like and love and not just using the system to increase the value of a Sphinx for trading. Plus new stamps are cool, (-8
*Quality of entries
In order for this system to work we want to see genuine effort put into the entries. This is not intended to discriminate against different styles or levels of skill but simply ensure that all who participate are putting in a decent effort! It is not only an opportunity to participate in some unique Sphinx activities and possibly gain some neat prizes/options but also a chance for you to practice, enhance, learn and develop skills you are interested it and have fun! More simply, we are not going to judge any particular works against others work, its just important that you yourself have put your effort into your entries. There will be some examples and actual numbers to follow for anyone looking into particulars.
