 Meryaten and her raven Thoth slowly entered Khemet. She was weary from her travels. Hopefully this was her last city to search. She had heard tales that the one she was searching for was here. Asking around of the many Sphinxes that she encountered, she was led to a small home outside of town. She knocked quietly at the door and awaited the one who was hopefully inside to answer.  Celebrian opened the door and said "May I help you?"Meryaten looked at him hopefully. "I hope that you can sir. I was told that perhaps you, since you are a friend of the one I seek, would be of an assist to me to find her."
"Well, that depends. Who are you looking for? I know of many a sphinx here in Khemet. Who would you be searching for?"
"Hemuset. I'm looking for one called Hemuset.""Why would you be looking for that lass? She is very busy with her wife and cub.""I haven't seen her in years...I knew her when we were cubs together. Please...do you know where she is? I must find her."Meryaten proceeded to pour out her tale to him of how she knew Hemuset and watched his face. Celebrian looked at her in amazement. "I will take you to her wife and to her you can explain your tale. For it is through her wife you will find Hemuset."Quickly Celebrian and Meryaten walked through the busy fair and approached Hemuset and Sabah's home. "Here child. Here is where you will find Sabah and Hemuset. I know Sabah is within taking care of Ta-Shera their newborn. I wish you nothing but the best." He watched her face flash in surprise at the name of the cub before turning to leave. Meryaten knocked upon the door and waited for an answer. Could this be the day? |

  Sabah had just laid her daughter Ta-Shera down for a nap, when there was a knock upon her door. Sabah spent a moment more soothing Ta-Shera making sure she was indeed comfortable and sleeping before she went to answer it. when Sabah opened the door there was a female sphinx standing there, one she had never seen before "May I Help You?" she asked politely. |

Meryaten nervously looked at the sphinx that answered the door. "I was told by the Bard Celebrian that I would find a female called Sabah here. She is the wife of the one with whom I have been searching for, Hemuset. Would you be Sabah?" Hemuset heard the knock at the door. Softly she padded towards the door and came to a sudden stop when she spied Meryaten. Shaking and gasping, she fell to the ground hard, in a dead faint. |

" Yes I am Hemusets wife." she stated right before hearing a thud and turning to see Hem on the floor. "Hemuset!!" she cried as she rushed to her wife's side "Hem?,Hemuset? Hem can you hear me?" sabah completely focused on her wife had forgotten about the female sphinx at her door.

Meryaten gasped in surprise. "H..h...hemuset?"
Hemuset came to in Sabah's arms. "Love, I thought I saw Meryaten, one of my siblings. Not possible. She was killed by the cobra. I saw it happen..."
Meryaten listened to Hemuset speak. In a rush her voice quivered as she spoke. "Hemuset...is that really you? I am here my sister. I lived. I survived the cobra attack."

Sabah looked into Hems eyes "Oh, Hem your ok, you scared me so." she said with relief. Then she looked up at the female sphinx at the door "Are you really my Hemuset's sister? How can you be?" sabah was a little annoyed that this strange female at her door had caused all this trouble but if she truly was hems sister then this would be a hopefully joyous time for hem. *a Soft whimpering can be heard in the background* looking back down at her wife she spoke "Hem dear,I need you to take a deep breath and try to get up slowly ok? I need to go check on T-Shera."

Meryaten looked at Hemuset and Sabah. "I'm so very sorry to have caused such an upset to your home, but I had to find you. Our parents never told you that I alone survived because I was in the care of the physicians for so very long. They weren't sure if I would ever come back for I was standing at the gates of the Duat for all these years. I saw our two other siblings pass through, Kenofer and Ta-Shera. They begged me to come with them, but I said no, I must stay here. I must awaken if only for a moment. It took many a long time for my spirit to return to my body, but return I did. When I awoke, the physicians were very much surprised and relieved. they cared for me a few more days and then released me back into our parents loving arms. When they told me that you had left home over a year ago without ever knowing that I survived, I knew that I had to find you."
Hemuset sat up as she listened to Meryaten speak. Looking back at Sabah caring for Ta-Shera she smiled. "Yes, that sounds like the Mery I knew. Once you got something into your head, you would always accomplish it." Calling over her shoulder softly,"Sabah, if little Ta-Shera is awake, perhaps her Aunt Meryaten could see her."
Meryaten once again started at the name. "Did you truly have a cub and call her Ta-Shera? You named her for our sister? I was told that you would as Ta-Shera passed by me that fateful day. Oh Hemuset, I'm so very sorry that our parents kept my living from you. They didn't want to tell you that I lived in case I never awoke."

Sabah returned holding little Ta-Shera "Shes still really tired and half asleep, you can try to hold her, though she has not been around many sphinxes yet besides me and hem so i dont know how she will react." Sabah gently held Ta-Shera out for Meryaten to take her.

Meryaten held her arms out to hold the cub. Murmuring softly she held little Ta-Shera close. "Little one, you are destined for greatness. Don't let any other Sphinx tell you otherwise. I know this for your the one whom you were named for told me so. Your mothers adore you and cherish you." Looking up she saw Hemuset just looking at her. "What? I speak the truth Hem. Ta-Shera spoke to me as she passed. She was saddened to see you there sobbing, over the loss of the three of us. I promised her that I'd come back for you. Not to take you to the Duat, but to come back for you, to help make you whole. Once Sabah's spirit became attuned to the Duat, I knew it was time to make the journey."
Still holding the cub, Meryaten looked over at Sabah. "I knew Hemuset was happy last year right before I awakened. I felt her spirits soaring and felt a brush of your spirit mingling with hers. You were destined then Sabah to become a Medium, as am I. I cannot be anything but a Medium, for the length of time that I was at the gates of Duat."
Meryaten held Ta-Shera a little bit longer, then gave her back to Sabah. "I must find a place to stay here in Khemet. I would like to be part of your life again Hemuset. I would like to grow to know your life and know your wife."
Hemuset looked at Sabah once again holding their cub. "Well, I can't speak for Sabah but I would like to let you stay here."

Sabah smiled "its interesting, one of the reasons i became a medium was because i felt i could help hemuset somehow if i did, it called to me and now here you are." she smiled and listened and slightly frowned as hemuset offered for meryaten to stay with them, sabah didnt really like the idea they were still getting use to having 3 of them and having a cub and now they would add meryaten to the mix she sighed a bit but made sure that her dislike of the idea was unseen. besides meryaten was her loves sister and family in need should never be turned away so how could she say no. she sighed again and smiled "of coarse she can stay..."

Meryaten smiled at her sisters offer. "Hem...sister dear. I cannot impose on you. You have a young wife here with you and a newborn cub. I would only be in the way. I know of a hostel that I can stay at for a time. Please don't force the issue. I'm here to stay. You won't loose me so easily again."
Looking over at Sabah, Meryaten smiled. "Please don't fret. I know it would be a imposition for me to stay here. We both know Hem..opens mouth without thinking..." Snickering Meryaten turned around to leave. Tossing over her shoulder one last quip, "Hem...get up off the floor. It's not dignified...even if you are a pirate..."

sabah smiled slightly relieved that Meryaten had declined the offer to stay, she then laughed at meryatens words "thank you it was very nice to meet you and if there is anything at all you need feel free to ask we will do our best to help." sabah reached down to help hemuset up off the ground "how are you doing my love?"
