Rank 1.1Purring loudly, Ieb lay cozily huddled up against her brother. Silently staring into the distance, the much taller male had no idea he had the prying eyes of his much smaller sister upon him. "Why do people think I'm weird?" Ieb spoke with an uncertain tone. Slowly her brother turned his head and casted his gaze downwards, looking right into her troubled pale blue eyes. A memory flickered in the back of his head, the face of her sister overlapping with that of the younger one in his memory. Poor little Ieb, even after all these years, she is still as clueless as when she was just a small kitten. "I don't know" he replied with a stern uninterested tone and turning his gaze back forwards. Ieb replied with a sigh, there was no point in getting annoyed at her brother, this is just what he was like, never a straight answer. With a disappointed huff she let her head fall back down on the large pillow they shared.
Meanwhile Akh'ka's mind had not settled. He may have dismissed the conversation, the topic still occupied him. He glanced back down out of the corners of his eyes, observing Ieb boredly playing with her bracelets unaware. Oh Ieb, he thought once more. You are not weird, just misunderstood like our family has always been. He silently kept observing her, while his mind faded deeper back into memory. Back when Ieb had barely seen the first light of her life and their parents still among the living. Both their parents had the gift, foresight, speaking to the dead, sensitive to the gentlest of changes. Paired with a secluded behavior, they always lived just outside of the community. He himself was not as gifted as they, but Ieb ... Ieb was playing with invisible pets and staring at things nobody else could see far before she could even speak.
There was no doubt in any ones mind that she would become a medium like her parents.Rank 1.2He was not even sure if she realized, that the things she smiled at where ghosts and specters. Atleast not those first few years, calm and peaceful years. Well, in his experience they where. Ieb grew up among loving parents, who enjoyed the prospect of their talented daughter's future. They could envision it clearly, looking forward to seeing it happen ... but it would not turn out quiet like they had hoped. Fear drives people to madness, and madness is just exactly what happened. Akh became a priest of anubis young, not so strange with his families affinity. Maybe he had more of his parents talent then he would admit, as the memory of that feeling still made the fur in his neck stir upright. That day, that time, that moment. That unshakable feeling that something was wrong, terribly wrong. He did not even try to shake it down, the urge to run to his parents was uncontrollably strong. But he was to late, their modest home lay in flame and he could feel the death that had spread around him. They where no more, he did not even need to see their ashes .. He knew .. They where gone. Burning in that home he grew up in and loved, the smells and scents of incense that normally soothed his home coming ... Now burned at his nostrils. Mothers entire stash must have gone up in flames with them.
And then, there was the laughter of a young cub. Ieb! Akh'ka rushed towards the sounds, finding her young sister surrounded by the crowds. "What do you mean where are my parents? They are right here!" Ieb smiled at the onlookers who merely looked back in horror. "they came to get me from auntie's and told me to go to my brother." The young girl continued, unaware of what had happened and further disturbing the people. They whispered among each other, slowly shaking Ieb's confidence until she spotted her brother among them. Akh'ka could barely grasp what had happened when he was shaken back to reality by ieb's happy stare. "There you are big brother! Momma say's we are going to live some where else now. Why is that?" The child stared up at her brother, awaiting a reply. Akh'ka could only stare, she did not know. She believed nothing was wrong. "hey is that smoke? Isn't that where home is? Can we go get my doll first?" Little ieb already wanted to walk past, but was instantly stopped by her brother. "No Ieb, we are leaving." Without a clear explanation, Akh'ka grabbed the small frail girl and put her on his back. Shielding her from the horrible sight they left behind, he made direct route back tot he temple. Under his mask he gritted his teeth, fighting back tears.
"Hihi mommy, why can I see through you? is that a new trick? Can I learn that?" Ieb's innocent naivety snapped Akh'ka inside. His expression slowly growing cold, his mind now dreading to have to tell ieb the truth. She was seeing spirits.Rank 1.3It was late as Akh'ka stepped back inside through the grand temple doors, completely soaked. On the way home they had been met by an awful storm, how fitting. Little Ieb had walked along under her brother and jumped out from underneath him with a gasp. "Aaaahhhh! Your robes almost chocked me! Why couldn't I hide under dad!?" Ieb puffed her cheeks. And look at my paws! I am completely covered in mud! She planted down her but on the stone marble floor and glared up at her brother. "Father has enough worries for now" he replied coldly, surprising Ieb slightly. back then she was not yet accustomed to such replies.
She glanced besides her "dad, why is brother being mean?" Through her eyes, he was still there. Only a little less clear, see through and surrounded by a slight thin mist. Naively she assumed he was just wearing incense under his robes, scentless incense. What else was a child to believe. Her father smiled faintly at her, spoke soft words of encouragement. Then her young mind could not filter out the hushed second whispering undertone that betrayed the dead from the living. It was dad to her, standing besides her and behaving much like she was used to.
Akh'ka observed the scene before her, and his heart broke once again. How was he going to tell his young little sister that she was speaking to the dead, that their parents where gone! He paced away to his private chambers in a mixture of panic and anger, followed by the happy bustle and hubble that was his sister. He almost forgot she would follow him and threw his mask against a wall in frustration, shattering it to pieces. He looked back startled when he heard a frightened yelp, in the doorway sat the scared little newly orphaned girl who did not understand his outburst. He wanted to rage, he wanted to find out who killed his parents .... he wanted to do SOMETHING. But the feeling of sadness finally washed over him and soothed his anger. Sending it away as fast as it came. Right now, right now he has a young child to take care of. A child who's frail little heart he now had to break. He looked right into those pale blue eyes, those troubled pale blue eyes.
"Ieb" Akh'ka spoke with a broken voice, hearing his own tone he swallowed and gathered his composure. "y-yes big brother?" Ieb replied uncertain. "Mom and dad" he spoke, followed by a pause. "Mom and dad are gone." He pushed down all the feelings he had and observed Ieb's response. "What do you mean gone?" ieb laughed "they are right here! You silly hihi" Not responding to Ieb's naivety, Akh'ka continued trying to get the small cub to realize sooner then later. "No Ieb, mom and dad are gone. They can't take care of you anymore." Ieb tilted her head not understanding, and then just dismissed it as a bad joke. "hihi you are being weird Akhku! Mom and dad are riiiight here!" She playfully pounced what she assumed to be her father ... but ... she went straight through. Akh'ka watched her sisters confused and later shocked face as she slowly turned around. "Dadda?" She looked bewildered at the figure before her, she could only see the saddened faces in front of her now and she franticly started to try hugging the 2 people she so clearly saw before her. "Momma! Dadda!? W-why can't I .. Why can't I ..." Akh'ka stared stunned as the cub tried relentlessly to receive a hug or a pat or anything ... but no matter how much the 2 now dead parents wanted, they could not. Confused and not understanding, Ieb eventually screamed with agony. Loud enough that many in the temple could hear, followed by the neverending cries and wails of a child emotionally torn.(( To be contineud))

Guide for myself:
Rank 1
1. Why did you become a medium? (rigorous study, natural talent, faith/religion/spirituality or did you even have a choice in the first place... perhaps you just see dead people?)
2. Describe the first time you saw a spirit. (when you were very young? after much training? were you frightened or did you even realized what you saw at the time like an imaginary friend or no one told you your grandfather died years earlier though he kept stopping by?)
3. How do you see spirits/how do they appear to you? (just happens? methodical ritual? magical potions? hazy visions? just voices or feelings?)
4. Beside being a medium, what else are you good at? (hobbies? beautiful singing voice? religious comparative studies?)
5. You uncover a text/scroll of spiritual lore mislabelled in the marketplace/library/temple and while the information looks useful it is of a a vastly different method then you are familiar with. What do you do with it? (study it? destroy it? dismiss it as weak or corrupt, or have a crisis of faith/increased interest as a new ideology takes hold?)
Rank 2
1. Do you possess any other powers beyond spiritual contact? (Clairvoyance/clairaudience/clairsentience, magical spells/tricks, psychic levitation, mind reading, prophesy?)
2. What sort of influence do you have in the spirit world? (can you call upon spirits to help/protect you? must use magic or tricks to get anything done? spirits use you for their own ends? are you a complete fraud and just faking it with chicanery or other magic powers?)
3. Something odd happens to your sistrum or it goes missing under suspicious circumstances. What is going on? (is it possessed? a trick to make you look foolish by another medium? simply stolen by a thief to get your attention?)
4. Do you belong to a group or affiliation? (loose knit group of esoteric occultists? temple of Anubis (underworld), Bastet (war/protection), Isis (life/mysteries), foreign (Hades, Hecate, Baron Samedi, Mictecacihuatl)? shamans or fortune-tellers?) If not, why? (just a loner? kicked out of a group? you don't play well with others?)
5. You have a powerful encounter/vision/dream with a psychopomp of some sort. (Is it a warning/threat/blessing? Is it of your faith/belief system?)
