In this thread I'll keep posting roleplaying notes about Sphinxes until I run out of ideas or questions to answer! (side note, never gonna happen (-8) First I'll try and get a bunch of quick and dirty answers out of the way, though some will be expaned upon later.
Sphinx ages ~ Sphinxes age at the same rate as humans until later in life. Sphinxes can live to approx. 200 years, and some can linger on for even longer.
Sphinx Diet ~ Sphinxes are generally omnivores and eat a similar diet as the ancient egyptians. Lots of grains and breads being the staples for most people supplimented with vegetables and whatever meat they can afford. Fish and rodents are the most common meats that everyone enjoys with big game or herd animals being very expensive. During certain parts of the year there is an abundance of vegetables and they can be very cheap, but between the end of the growing season and the inundation most types of fresh veggies become more scarce. Sphinxes are rarely vegetarians (due to their cat like nature and historical fact), but there are always exceptions though these would usually be considered ecentric or possibly relegious taboos.
Sphinx Paws ~ Sphinxes have a dewclaw that is similar to a thumb which they can use to grab and pick things up, though usually they're a bit clumsy unless they really practice. There are certain classes that require lots of practice like soldiers (swords) and scribes (writing tools). Sphinxes walk on all fours (and are good jumpers!) and depending on the item can still carry an it in their hand, though many would preffer to carry their items in their teeth or in a container on themselves (sword sheath, belt pouch etc.).
