The Navy of Khemet
The Navy of Khemet has recently gone through a renaissance of sorts with new ship technology, new training and sailing methods as well as a healthy donation of funds and equipment from a few noble sources. This organisation was restructured for the Pharaoh by the famous Captain Karen and bears a lot of his marks. The Navy of Khemet is an extension of and works with the Champions of Ahket. (primarily a faction of nautical swashbucklers there is always openings for other skilled professionals.)
Rank 1
1. Why did you want to sign up for the new navy? (respect? a regular income? fame? to see the world/sail the seas?)
2. Training for the navy can be brutal on the unprepared! How did yours go? (you struggled with one/many of the skills being taught such as rigging, sword work, reading etc.? you aced everything you tried and skyrocketed through your courses? cheated like crazy and somehow got away with it or got caught but had a patient instructor who turned you on the right track?)
3. Captain Karen insists that everyone in the navy learns at least one of finer arts to better themselves and you are offered several choices, which is right for you? (many sorts of poetry and art, study of lores or knowledges, carpentry/boat building, architecture, the supreme skill of writing? something new?)
4. Describe something awesome or satisfying from your training. (satisfaction of finally mastering the sword maneuver? true romance with another trainee (or instructor!)? your first sunset in a place you've never been before on a training mission?)
5. How do you celebrate your graduation into a naval swashbuckler? (party with your classmates? visit your poor parents and give them your first days payment? go shopping and buy 12 new poet shirts? get a tattoo? start your first entry into a new diary?)
Rank 2
1. Describe showing up for your first day. (meeting your new crewmates, arguing over bunk accommodations, finding out your ship has the best/worst cook, get cold feet, saying goodbye to your boy/girl friend as you prepare to be a way for a few months?)
2. What is your first week like? (regular uneventful harbour patrols? your on a ship traveling longer routes and your watching foreign terrain/people/wildlife with wonder or fear? your working in the city until a new ship becomes available or as a liaison to the Champions of Ahket?)
3. Action! (your ship chases off a pirate ship, spotting/fighting a sea monster, escaping Sphinx eating sirens?)
4. What is your relation with the captain of your crew? (pushes you to do better? gives you all the worst/best jobs? can't remember your name?) is full of innuendo that might be flirting with you or just really nice?) and possibly why... or at least what you think is the reason? (is just encouraging, or a taskmaster, or a relative or an ex-boyfriend, or a career monster using the crew for her own ends?)
5. Another group from the Champions of Ahket (the army, navy, a group of mercenaries) challenge you (and some of your fellow guards?) to a friendly competition! Perhaps a wrestling match, mock fight, race, odd foreign traditional game...
Rank 3
1. You encounter something truly supernatural or terrifying while on the job, how do you deal with it? (alert the crew saving the day(Kraken?)? fight it off yourself and be hailed as a hero?(demon stowaway?) get creative? (promise to come back and marry a mermaid noble?)
2. Describe a repercussion from number one. (promotion, unjustly berated for doing things yourself without calling for help, something that will come back to haunt you later like a basket with a mer-child left on your ship?)
3. Rivalry with a pirate ship in Alexia's fleet begins to escalate! (embarrassing pranks? outright theft of gear? nasty brawls/kidnapping? you or your captain's husband/boyfriend leaves her for the captain of your rival?)
4. A third faction gets involved with the rivalry creating confusion/chaos. (a neutral Viking ship is damaged in the fighting? someone hires Ninja saboteurs and both sides blame each other? everyone gets arrested by the guard and are forced to work together in a city work project creating even worse tension or possibly begrudging respect?)
5. Is there a resolution to the rivalry? (both ships come together for a joint mission? one/both of the ships is sunk? Vikings steal everyone stuff and leave you all on a desert island? an important crew member from each ship has a secret wedding that only the two crews know about?)
