Pet-en-Senas grumbled to himself as his paw sank into another bog. What was he doing here anyway? He was a long way away from Ahket. "This is what happens when your wife is a medium. I could be home right now with her and Shadya but nooooooooo." The musician walked on a few more paces as he recalled Jendayi's orders to him. You must go to Lamoria, Pet. To the Moors. Stop at the inn first. There's a spirit there who's restless and won't talk to me, but she won't leave me alone either. We won't have any peace until you go talk to her. Jendayi had been reluctant to send her husband on this strange quest, but the spirit, Ailis, just would not relent until Pet had gone.
Pet sighed heavily again. The people at the inn had directed him to the ruins in the moors where the spirit was said to reside. He hoped he would reach them soon. This place was wearying. The musician decided to take a break and sat on a nearby log. Pulling out his pipes he began to play a soft tune he'd been working on for Shadya. His daughter was almost as fond of music as she was of her pets. He smiled thinking of her.

Ailis made her way cautiously out of her beloved ruins. She had been aware that someone had crossed over her first ward, and she had waited for the flare of magic that always told her that they had crossed the second one. That magical burst had never come, so she had decided to check on the state of things outside for herself. The fact that someone had seemingly crossed her first ward with ease bothered her. That usually meant that they were protected by charms of some kind or their own magic, and in her experience, that usually meant a long night fighting off some annoying adventurer. It was best to get it over with.
As she drew closer to the stone that marked her second ward, she began to hear the soft sound of a song being played on pipes. She slowed as she listened and then completely stopped as she caught sight of the musician. "It can't be," she whispered to herself as what was left of her heart gave a sudden leap.

A cold chill ran up the musician's spine making him shiver. He paused his playing and began to look around. Living with a medium he was used to some of these odd sensations. He wondered if perhaps someone or something was nearby. Pet-en-Senas swallowed hard. "If you mean to rob me, you've picked a poor target. I have nothing but these pipes and some foodstuffs," he called out to the air. "If you're the spirit that I'm seeking, please show yourself. My wife Jendayi has sent me to you." He still wasn't sure exactly why he was there, but he'd learned since they'd gotten Shadya not to question Jendayi's visions, premonitions, or pretty much anything she might suggest to him. Pet sat in the stillness of the moor listening to crickets and frogs. Perhaps his own feelings had been wrong. He wasn't as attuned to things has his wife was. After a few more moments, he went back to his song. Soon he'd have to be on his way to the ruins.

Ailis felt her heart sink and shook her head. Of course it wasn't him. How could it be? Had she forgotten how many years she had been wandering the moors? Her brother was surely long dead, and as she looked closer at this musician, she could clearly see that he only slightly resembled her brother at all. She'd allowed her sight to be clouded by hope, but her eyes were clear now. She frowned and gracefully moved forward as she made her body more visible. "Explain yourself. Who is Jendayi, and why has she sent you here," she asked as she glared at the musician in front of her.

Pet fell backwards off the log as the spirit materialized in front of him. "Ummmm. Jendayi is my wife," he replied as he tried to right himself. "She's a medium. The one you've been talking to." He got up and nervously ran his hand through his wig. "She sent me to see how we could help, but maybe you don't want any help. If that's the case, I'll be happy to return home to my wife and daughter." The musician backed away slowly. He had heard that the lords of the Shadowlands weren't necessarily hospitable creatures, and he wasn't entirely sure of this one.

Ailis nodded. She had been in contact with what she'd thought was originally a fellow spirit, only to discover it was a mortal with a connection to the spirit world instead. "I was hoping she would come herself. Why did she send you? I need her help locating someone."

The musician was perplexed for a moment. Jendayi had said the spirit wouldn't talk to her. That is why she had sent him. His wife had simply assumed that the spirit wanted to communicate with a man, and off he had come on this strange quest. "Ummmm. She thought you might want to talk to me since you didn't seem to want to talk to her. Or perhaps you weren't able to." He ran his hand along his thigh another nervous gesture. "She wanted me to come find you and see how she could help. My wife is very big on helping the spirits she comes in contact with to find peace."

The Shadowlord rolled her eyes slightly. "I'm a banshee. I'm not all powerful. It was too difficult to communicate directly over such a distance. I wouldn't have bothered trying to contact her at all except I thought someone outside of Lamoria wouldn't immediately try to banish me to the spirit world," she explained with an aggravated sigh before looking towards the nervous musician who was almost quaking at this point. "Maybe you can be useful," she said with a smirk as she moved closer. Hopefully since this was the medium's husband, having him close by would be able to strengthen the connection enough for her to talk to Jendayi directly.

The musician chuckled slightly and resettled himself on his log. "My wife is definitely not interested in banishing spirits. She believes in helping them find peace in this life if they choose to remain here. If they want to move on, she'll help them with that too." He smiled thinking of his wife. He really loved her. "Ummmm. I'm not sure how useful I can be," he replied nervously. "I'll do what I can." Pet-en-Senas glanced up at her semi-corporeal form and bit at his lower lip. "Please," he felt like such a coward, "don't hurt me."

Ailis couldn't help but scoff. "Please, if I had wanted to hurt you, you would be dead already, but despite popular belief I don't kill people for fun. It's really quite a pain and takes a lot of energy. Now just give me your paw if you would," the banshee demanded as she held out her own semi-corporeal paw for the musician to take hold of. "Yes, you can actually touch me," she added when her uninvited guest hesitated. Once she finally had hold of the musician, she reached out across Lamoria and towards the medium she had been in contact with. Hopefully Jendayi would answer her call.

A shiver ran up Pet's spine as the banshee took hold of him. It was like plunging his paw into icy water. Through the connection he was able to see, though the image was horribly fuzzy due to his own lack of powers, his wife and daughter. Jendayi could feel someone watching her and set Shadya down to play with Nena. She moved to her room and lit some candles. Dark was best while she tried to connect with the spirit. Her eyes went unfocused as she reached out with her own soul for the link. "Speak, spirit. Let me help you," she called out in her mind. "My name is Jendayi." She closed her eyes and was surprised to see the very spirit she'd sent her husband to find. "Oh... it's you. Have you seen my husband," she asked hopefully. "Will you speak with me now?"

Ailis nodded as she felt the connection to the medium form. It was stronger this time, stronger than it ever had been. It seemed her idea had worked. "Yes, I have seen your husband. He is here with me, and it is because of his presence that I am able to speak to you now. Before, there was simply too great a distance. Now," she said getting down to business. Keeping the line of communication open was tiring, and she didn't want to waste any more time. "Listen to what I tell you. I am looking for my brother, Cillian. I need you to find him and arrange for us to talk. Until you do, your husband shall remain here with me. Understood?"

Jendayi was perplexed. A spirit wanted her to contact another spirit? She'd never been given such a request before. The medium thought about it a moment. Perhaps it was because the banshee wasn't in the Duat and the one she wanted to contact was. Jendayi felt the connection begin to weaken. "I will do what I can," she promised. "It's an unusual request, and may be quite difficult without something of his in my possession." She frowned as she saw her husband through Ailis' eyes. "Please don't hurt, Pet. He's a good man, and his daughter and I are waiting for his return. I will try the ritual tonight and see what can be accomplished. I will reach out to you again as soon as possible."

Ailis allowed the connection to break and then released the musician's paw that she was holding. "You are free to go for now. I expect to see you tomorrow evening, however, and if I have to fetch you, you will not be happy," she stated as she narrowed her eyes at him. She then turned her attention back to her home and made her way back into her ruins. "Now, begone before I change my mind and decide to keep you here," she called back to him as she turned to see him still sitting there.

Jendayi blinked a few times as the connection broke. How was she supposed to find a spirit without any personal artifacts or more than a name. She sat down with a sigh and this Ailis had her husband until she was successful. She decided go around and talk to her other fellow mediums to see what they could help her divine and then she began to ask the spirits if any of them knew of this Cailin. Gathering all of the candles in the house, she started a séance to try and contact Ailis again. "Ailis," she called. "Ailis, speak to me."
