On the 4th day of Renwet (or April the 15th to those who follow the Greco-Roman calendar) we hold a festival to the nefer netjer Bastet.
All are invited to attend the Heb-Bastet, sphinx or human, noble or peasant. It shall be a time of merriment, selling of wares, jokes, eating, drinking, and of course the reverence towards the nefer netjer (good goddess) Bastet!  Sahret: Hey hekenmess! (Hello Friends!) Ii-wy, welcome to the twelfth Annual Heb~Bastet Sphinx Celebration! Those of you who attended the previous festivals may remember me, and for the newcomers I shall introduce myself: I am Sahret and a hostesses of the festival. *Sahret motions towards her clowster of cats* I brought my... Selene IV: Hold it Sahret! Selene IV: *Selene the IV looked at the date one more time, a momentary perplexed look then shock before she tried to regain her composure.* Something seems off. Scribe: It's actually not the 4th day of Renwet, we seem to have lost two weeks." Selene the IV: Stupid scribe... you're fired. Sahret: Wait, he's right, we do seem to have lost two weeks. Selene the IV: Okay scribe, you're un-fired. Hmmm, we'll have to figure this one out. Until then you should get back to introducing the cats. Sahret: Right. *she has an unsure look but the Heb must go on!* As always I have brought along my little darlings to participate, but I do have a new love to add to my collection of cats. Say 'hello' Hekau.  Hekau: Purr-owSahret: Now that the new sacred cats are introduced I really should try to puzzle together what happened to the last two weeks. This is very disconcerting.  Ranquillane: Dang it! There's still some sort of temporal flux goin' on. This ain't right. It's gettin' pretty bad but I'm gonna keep tryin' to figure this one out before it gets any worse. *she produces a golden pocket watch that she observes for a moment, slowly turning this way and that as if it was a compass instead of a time piece* *she winces in frustration from whatever the results were* Yep, it's gettin' worse already. Selene IV: *looking at Sahret* I knew it, I knew it! Something weird happens every year. Sahret: *gives an exasperated sigh* Selene IV: *perks up* I wonder how many men from the future I can catch. Stray Cats
Sahret: Hey hekenmess, hello friends. Bastet has deemed to bless us with sacred cats who are roaming around Ahket.
They look much like my new darling Hekau here.
Hesa: Mew. Perhaps Bastet will take notice of you and bless you with one of her cats.

About the Stray Cats
During the Heb~Bastet, at the Temple of Bastet, stray cats are seen to wander around. These cats already have a name, and if they hear their name said they will come forth to be with the person who 'called' them. If there are stray cats in an event there will be a warning at the top of the thread letting you know. Ie: *Stray cats have been seen around this event/thread* If there are stray cats in a thread, and you happen to say their name (in khemetic or english) during your posting, the cat will respond and come to you. It can be made a pet for your sphinx, or kept to wait for when you have a sphinx to care for it. Basically it is a 'secret word' game. (A word search to check the threads that have stray cats in them.) Stray Cat Rules~ It will be announced in a thread when a certain artist's stray cats are around, and another note posted when that artist has finished their game (ie. not watching the thread any longer). ~ Only 1 stray cat from each artist can be won per person for the 'secret word' games. (this does not include cats won from other events, just the 'secret word' stray cat game.) ~ Spelling matters! Since a program is being used to find the word posted, if the word is miss-spelled it will be overlooked. So, to be fair - spelling counts. ~ Please note that this is supposed to be in the event of a 'normal post'. So no posts of just name lists in an attempt to call over a cat. ~ Editing posts is fine, but no going back to edit a post after cats have been won in an attempt to make it seem as if you had posted that word first. After the page has the word search completed and winners announced, any edits just to make it seem as if you said the winning name/word before the page was searched will disqualify you. ~ There are other artists with stray cats, and another list of names - with each of us not pre-knowing the names the other was using. So there could be repeats of words/names ~Although some names have many meanings, there is a pre-chosen, exact word that is being used for the game. |

Traditional Long Running Contests When it comes to judging: Please realize that we are not art critics and that we shall try our best. It's difficult to choose between so many wonderful entries, and we already feel like villains for not being able to choose everybody that will enter. So please do realize that if we choose one piece over another we're doing our best and probably will strain, stress and worry as we're even figuring out the top finalists, and usually we just go by what caught our attention the most. (also we never pick fast and put off judging because is soooo hard to pick!) There can only be one entry, per contest, per person (not account). PM you entries to Mr. Pooka with the message titled with the name of the contest (ie. if you are entering the art contest send a pm with the title 'Art Contest') (...also I don't always look at contest entries until we set up for judging so if you have a question feel free to either post it in this thread or PM it.) Last year we didn't have enough entries for all of the prizes, so don't be shy, go ahead and enter!Entries must be in by June 1rst (12 am EST)
Art Contest
Art of any medium, with the theme of Time Travel and any event during the Heb that had Time Travel in it. (ie. dinosaurs, space girls, battle for the crook & flail, etc) Sometimes judging comes down to 'does it look like it could be from the Sphinxes adoptable or does it look like an anthro cat"? Its a trixy fine line! Pencil drawings, digital work, sculpture, whatever your ready to try! You MUST have made it yourself and it must have been made for this contest. Make sure to sign your picture. 1rst Place Prize - Mooples   2nd Place Prize - Cryptic   3rd Place Prize - MelodysAngel   Bonus Prize! Minkey   Cooking/Baking Contest Bake/cook some wonderful treat! Something themed with Time Travel (or any story during the Heb that took place due to time travel). To enter show a picture of your final entry with a card/paper in the image with your username, 2019, and a tiny doodle of a cat. :3 (As detailed or as quickly done as you wish. ) If you think it's needed, feel free to describe your choices and reasons for what you made and why you made it. You might wish to check out previous Heb contests to see what Mr. Pooka and I tend to lean towards for choices... nothing set in stone but I think we are usually more impressed with flashy/pretty things,  (ie. would prob. pick a cake shaped like a Sphinx over a traditional Egyptian bowl of hummus... although we are often surprised with the types of entries so you never know!) Only enter your own work created for this contest. Pictures of the steps is awesome and helpful, but not required. 1rst Place Prize - MelodysAngel

Time Hacking Central ------------------------------------------------------ Time of the RaptorsTime portals, strange anomalies and odd effects both minor and major had been plaguing the city for weeks now... well, even the term weeks was subjective really as some Sphinxes seemed not to notice what was going on at all and some felt like they'd lived through two Beltanes while others had met past versions of themselves from alternate timelines. Fortunately for the new visitors to Akhet, the locals were always welcoming and had shown their legendary altruism in caring for those who were lost and in trouble. The city had seen entourages of fairies at the gates, viking settlers, misty island fairs, thieves guild wars, cowboy city guards and things even stranger yet always these things were accepted and often even enjoyed for the variety and liveliness they brought. Perhaps it was the wobbly time things going on that buried a rumor that would normally have been much more important to the all the people who lived in the light of the Pharaoh.
Over the last week there was a bit of gossip making its rounds among the courtiers looking for something to chat about that did not concern the fantastic though tragic history of the Crook and Flail or the obviously wacky time effects that were interfering with the Heb~Bastet and the citizens of the greatest city on the Nile. Apparently far traveling merchants from upper Khemet had seen a curious entourage of reptilian Netjers traveling to Ahket. Some even mentioned that they would press south to visit some sort of city that was rumored to have just... appeared along the southern parts of the river! This could all have just been road stories from weary travelers who had spent to much time in the sun or exaggerated their fireside stories. At least it could have been until the city guard mobilized and alerted the public to just such a caravan of travelers!
Large groups of Sphinxes crowded the southern gate to watch the large, hooked clawed, feathered reptilians enter the city. One of them stood forward from the group and addressed the watch leaders and crowd. "Hey Hekenmes people of great Khemet! My companions and I have traveled an unknowablely long time to be here and We have many things to talk about and we bring you... History! Perhaps together we can help you with the problems that are currently besieging your beautiful city and it's most excellent of peoples!" How to Hack Time 
Breaker: Hey Dudes and Dudettes and uhm, other animal type people I've found a major Time Anomaly that needs some investigation! If you think you're cool enough for this wicked mission come with me!
Breaker lead the group to the portal, hidden way back behind the cities bread cooking walls. Even many of the locals didn't come back here often enough and the art of this alley was a surprising hidden treasure.
Breaker: So here's how this is all gonna go down. I'm gonna hook up my modem and computer to the... wait, you guys don't know what I'm talking about anyways right? Huh, so I'm gonna use this magic box and attached it to this magic arch and use my magic hacking skills to hack some magic and send whoever wants to go to fix this problem to whenever this problem is. Like totally easy to get, right! So who's radical enough to want to volunteer?---------------------------------------------------------- If you'd like to play in today's games post a Sphinx you own in this thread with a phrase like "I'm radical enough!" or "I jump right in!"... You can also do this and join in at any point after this part of the event starts until it is done with! (prob a couple of days!) (-8 Some of the roleplaying and the connections to the games are a bit tenuous, (-8 but its all in fun and feel free to add any RP descriptions you like for this weekends events! ------------------------------------------------------------ Day of the Dinosaur!Cave Drawings!While Hiding out from some of the more dangerous dinosaurs of this messed up time journey some Sphinxes end up hiding in a large old cave. Once your eyes get used to the light you start to see some sort of primitive drawings... Who did these? Well, there was lots of space left on the wall and there was apparently some time to kill while waiting for the dinosaur outside of the cave to wander away so why not try your hand at adding a story to the living history museum? ------- The Game! You may colour ONE of the dinosaur pictures below and post them in this thread to be entered into a contest to win one of these!     Your coloured picture must be posted in this thread by 11:00 PM today and everyone who enters will be entered into a random draw for the prizes. I also have a prize for my favorite entry! Post one or two image of something your Sphinx likes so we can check some compatibility! (if your Sphinx is super interested they might just try to post a picture of something they think he might like of course!) The first person to posts and image of something our boy is interested will win him and have him married to the Sphinx you used for this contest! (I have three of his likes written down, hidden until the end of the contest). If no one makes a match within 12 hours of this post I will put everyone who entered onto a random list of love to find our winner, (-8 ------------------------------------------------ Skilled Trackers Needed!The hunting trip was successful in general but it was never a bad thing to uncover some fresh tracks on the way back to the Clan!
