Home RP update (because I was asked to do this). First, pictures... Not one of my best... but the tentacle heart is cute. The original sketch is only 5 inches tall. The original sketch is only 3 1/2 inches tall. Now, plot... (spoilered since the violence may go above the PG13 rating)
After a teary parting of Eiko and Sabburo (her danna in the future) along with some sad goodbyes from friends the group returned to the present along with a few new allies from the past who wanted to join them in their fight to save the world from aliens, and to see the future in general.
They all returned a few minutes after they left, still on the street, the party in the club still happening, and the ship not paying much attention to them any longer. The first group looked the same, but were wide eyed at the Edo group with their oiran, yamabushi henge (animal shapeshifer) monks, blind samurai, etc. The Edo group still in their Edo period clothing, and up a few more class levels above the other characters. ^^; But... they found out something important! You see, magic had been drained and blocked off in the world so they didn't have their powers or magic items to fight the aliens, but for some reason from being in the past their magic items re-charged! (Except for ones bound to their innate powers, like Lolly and Mayolin's magic girl wands still didn't work.)
Now... in the background Mr. Ito (Sabburo, Eiko's danna) and Mi'ri'lil were stuck in his pocket dimension. They've become fast friends and had been together scrying the kids before the aliens when dimensional travel had returned to the world momentarily. He wanted to open up his pocket dimension which wasn't working before... and they were inside when the aliens showed up and drained magic, so they couldn't return. They had all of 'their' magic, but the portal wouldn't work. So, Mi'ri'lil was casting a lot of scrying spells so they could watch the kids and keep from going too stir crazy. (it's a small pocket dimension with very little in it.) Right when the Edo period travelers returned Mr. Ito passed out. Mi'ri'lil was casting heals, and restorations, and panicking that her new best friend was unconscious. He woke up blinking and then smiled brightly. He explained what had happened, that along with the magic to time travel that his people had that it can mess around with your memories to protect paradox. (He's from an alternate, genetically enhanced, powerfully magic race of humans from another world... long story but it's a race/civilization from another game system.) His redacted memories of Edo were now returning. He KNEW that he had met the girl of his dreams back then, he knew that she was sent back in time, he remembered what they did... but everything about her was fuzzy/gone. So he had been searching for hundreds of years for her... and now his memories had returned.
Back to the teens... So, they knew about the blue death fruit that would temporarily return magic and took Mr. Ito's yacht out into the ocean to find them. There were a few 'bottle episode' RP encounters; some new flirting, a break up, basically good and bad social RP. Then they came upon the place of the death fruit. The fruit grows on man eating, grappling, tendril plants. The two oni aliens who joined them earlier, who had turned on their own group (due to their boyfriends breaking up with them and locking them out of the mothership. lol) one is an oni tech specialist, and they still had 'their' powers. So she made 8 special 'magical' items that allowed them to breathe water and avoid being grappled. (basically she has a class that can create 'items of power' and she has the ability to adjust/change them within the same power limits. She can combine or even separate the points and change what they do.)
When swimming down they ran into a triton who told them to go away. They tried to explain that they needed the fruit to save the world from an invasion and he refused to help. He turned into an aboleth (a deep see monstrosity) that the underwater team defeated. Then they picked the fruit and had over 150 of them! More then enough to power up and fight the aliens.
Back to Tokyo where they made the plans to go the very next morning.
Their plan was that Mayolin's wand creates teleportation portals, but she needs to have seen where they are going. Siru (one of the aliens) brought out a yearbook from their school showing the aliens from the other ships, so the group could scry them, then use the scenery for Mayolin to study and teleport onto the ships.
It was a quick series of assaults, where they didn't want to kill any of them because it could anger their parents who would probably show up at some point with more dangerous ships. O.o They had a 'hub' with Mayolin scrying and opening portals. There were different team assaults on the aliens who had different types with each ship. My favourite was the ship of big brain/headed aliens who were the nerds from school. The good devil girl in the character group can read people very quickly and when the aliens gave a big speech about how they could out think their every maneuver, Mio just pulled off her top as they stared in shock.. then the rest of the team quickly lynched them. XD
So... success! They saved the world. The magic was returned, Mr. Ito and Mi'ri'lil were able to leave the dimension and teleport to the teens. Mi'ri'lil collected up her husbands who had been out searching for her. All seemed great!
Then the bigger ship appeared. O.O
A massive ship, many times larger then the other ones, appeared in the sky and with one blast crashed down the oni ship that was still hovering above Tokyo.
It takes too much to explain, but the main, Loki following, ultra powered villains from the game were on the ship along with a huge brain in a machine. They were mechanoids (a villain from another game system. They're pretty much like a mixture of dalleks and cyber men. lol ) They took over all of the media to put out the message that 'we know you are here, come out so we can at least see you before we destroy you'. The head mechanoid told the world that now it would be cleansed of all of it's humanoids... with slow torture. (Who created the mechanoids pretty much did copy dalleks and cybermen... seriously, it's exactly like them... just different looking tech armor.)
Then as the group was trying to decide what to do, Suzuko, one of the characters from the setting the mechanoids were from, gave them a quick overview of what they were. HIGHLY dangerous. Just a couple of hits from one of their guns could kill even the toughest of them. As they were making plans mechanoids deployed from the ship and into the city.
It was decided that the teens would go stop the mechanoids, and the epic level characters (Mi'ri'lil, her husbands, Mr. Ito) would go save the city.
Mayolin had seen the room on the broadcast so they teleported onto the ship's command center.
Now, the main, overly powerful, mythic big bads here were the mechanoid brain leader, Sagashi (Loki's child, a nine tailed fox who was as powerful as say... Fenris or Jormonger.) and... a unicorn MLP, epic level anti-paladin who had tortured the original group as children.
Huge fight, forcefields to help them out... and then the fox stopped time. The pony and brain escaped while the fox mocked them before vanishing... leaving them to the room full of mechanoids. Tough fight, and thank goodness for Lolly's heart forcefield and Suzuko's anti-ranged forcefield since it saved a LOT of lives!
The group eventually prevailed and took over the command center. Mechanoid brains somewhere on the ship were still controlling it, and the computer specialists tried to hack in, which was contested and they just barely took over. Zeb suggested to crash the ship, but they would have to wait until the last moment. (I forgot to mention, as they jumped through the portal the ship had taken off, flying by circling, to avoid portals since they can't be used with a moving target.) So... it was terrifying timing, literally the last 10 seconds Junko opened up a passwall in the wall, they ran and jumped with feather fall spells for those who couldn't fly. They landed just in time to see the ship crash into a mountain near Tokyo, causing earthquakes and even spilling lava from the mountain it hit it so hard. But... as it was crashing another very large piece of the ship flew off and landed in a suburb of Tokyo.
That was a spider crawler mechanoid fortress. It's (by the book) exactly 1,598 feet tall. (not 1,600, exactly 1,598 feet. XD We were laughing about how it had to be so exact in the book.)
Anyhow, this thing had huge lasers, building destroying ones, and so many lasers on the platform that it would kill any of them instantly. The lasers were down while the forcefield was up as it charged up and gained it's footing. The characters had been in the suburb in the past and Mayolin portaled them there just in time to see it's forcefield drop as it was 'warming up' it's guns on local buildings. An army of mechanoids were being deployed from the ship.
Mi'ri'lil and the guys had been fighting in the city, rather well since they're pretty darned high level. When they felt the quake and saw the huge dust cloud explosion she greater teleported them there. They were fighting through the army on the ground and didn't see the kids.
They didn't know what to do!! I mean, how in the world could they even get on this thing? Chiko (the vampire... if you remember it's a game with strange creatures, none evil, from other worlds. He's like... a part vampire who will gain all of his powers when he first drinks human blood.) Anyhow, Chiko had the idea to turn into mist and move in through one of the port holes that was releasing flying mecchanoids. He got in undetected as they scried him. Then when he got to the command center the pony anti-paladin looked up saying 'I sense something... good.' It was time to act!!
Portal into the command center of that spider crawler, huge fight this time focusing on one leader at a time (due to abilities all with crazy bonuses, bardic music, jammer music (which stack), aura of wrath (ie all of them had 'smite evil') and Lyric's poetic cry which also gave them a HUGE bonus that stacked.)
They took them down before they could even act! Whoo!!!
Then it was the mechanoids who didn't stand a chance with all of the bonuses they had going and forcefields protecting the weaker members of the group. Before they were all destroyed one of them said 'You may win this, but we'll still kill you.' and a timer started to count down on the screens.... '19, 18, 17... ) They had to move quickly... but had to destroy brains in shields to stop the ship completely. There are SO many characters in this group it was short work (two rounds, so 12 seconds) They opened a passwall in the bottom, feather fell down, Tia used her shrink ray (now unresisted) to shrink the spider walker to large size (about 10 feet tall). Mayolin opened a portal. Usagi, Katsumi and Junko (the strongest of the group) bullrushed it through the portal into the pacific ocean. Mayolin quickly closed the portal at the last second. (which was good where she chose it so far away, it would have probably destroyed all of Tokyo, caused tsumanis, etc. and needed to go FAR.)
Then meeting up with the other group and fighting through the rest of the mechanoids. They spent the rest of the day/night tracking them down, putting up notes online for people in Tokyo to post if they saw mechanoids, etc. Then... they stood on a rooftop looking over Tokyo realizing that they were finally done as the sun rose.
WHOO!!!
(super kudos if you actually read through that. lol)( Nutshell: found the magical death fruit and returned their own magic. Portal/teleported from ship to ship to take out the aliens. Then as celebrating bigger ship appeared with nothing to do with the other aliens. Mechanoid (like dallek/cybermen mixture... from another game setting, not our creation. lol ) assaulted Tokyo by the thousands. Big bads (villains from the whole game) were on the ship. Portaled onto the ship, didn't defeat them as they all escaped. Crashed the ship and barely escaped that as a big part of the ship flew away. Followed that where it landed as a walking, uber powered fortress. Some quick thinking to find the way on, fighting and prevailing over the villains of the campaign. Then using collective abilities to toss the about to explode fortress into the pacific and hunted down the rest of the mechanoids in Tokyo. World saved.) The campaign is basically over. ^_^ Now it's probably a few weeks of talking through things, wrapping up loose ends, parents showing up (or them going to their parents? If you recall they were tossed into another dimension as children and couldn't leave). etc. Then (and now when I have free time), I'm working on my secret Sphinx project again and hopefully it's ready within the next month or two.

*peeks in* August was crazy busy at work like normal. Other than that I've been playing Fire Emblem Three Houses with Rasa. Love it! Between the two of us, we just finished the final storyline. I think we've logged probably 250 hours or something like that over the last month.

I really meant to keep caught up with some cool pics from my wilderness wanderings like this one... but the summer and fall just kind of evaporated?! I have no idea where the time went, then suddenly this... Here's a handful of nice wintery pics, (-8 Another day I was out on top of this 'mountain' I climbed it was so blizzard-y and snowy you often couldn't see because of the blowing snow... so I figured I'd build a nice little fire to warm out in hopes that it would clear, which it did periodically, enough for a few more pictures, (-8 (some people call the hills around here mountains... technically they are to small really be called mountains but the rocky Canadian shield does feel mountan-y to me, (-8) that's the sun hidden in the next wave of oncoming snow... I found tons of puddingstone on this particular hill to... I wish I put something in this shot to see how big this boulder is... it's around 5 feet tall. I know big rock, but what I found interesting is that it is a big rock on top of a giant rock. That rock weighs as much as a two big trucks and it's just been sitting there since some glacier dropped it there during the ice age. It got picked up who knows where and got pushed across the land and was tumbled and ground until it became smooth and now it's just going to sit. Who knows what has walked past that rock... mammoths, dire wolfs, woolly rhinos or even farther back before it got moved, perhaps an archaeopteryx perched on it... idk, just the kind of thoughts you have while climbing mountains in blizzards I guess, (-8 some misty mountains getting back to the jeep... a different day by the... Mississaugi river... I love how the little trees and bushes by the water are completely ice coated... It's like a fairy tale! Ooo, and one last interesting picture... This year there were wolf tracks EVERYWHERE... tons and tons of wolf tracks every single spot I went to, more than I've ever seen in my life. I found the remains (well piles of feathers and a few moose bones anyways) of lots of their successful hunting and their tracks told some interesting stories... (the only deer tracks I saw in the snow had wolf tracks hot on their trail...) But the ones that interested me the most was these ones. One of my days out I was climbing a hill I'd climbed two day's before. It had snowed a little but I noticed that a wolf had followed my tracks, checking out all of my stops... kind of interesting, but on my way back I found these... An even bigger wolf (you can see the size of the tracks there, about the half the size of my boot prints.. that's a pretty big wolf!) had been following me again right on my trail! That's enough to make you alert and look around, I'll tell you! I never actually saw this wolf but I have a feeling it saw me... Now with all the wolf tracks I actually only saw one wolf and it was crossing the road to fast for me to take a pic... Which reminds me of one last picture I didn't get to take... One day, deep in the bush I saw a really large bird and tried to stalk closer to see what it was because it wasn't... idk, moving right? for any kind of large bird on the ground. Eventually I got close enough to realize it was an enormous pileated woodpecker sitting on a fallen log, pulling it apart looking for food. I think these guys look really cool and figured I'd see how close I could get to the woodpecker and try and take a pic. I managed to sneak to within about 10 feet and spent a few minutes slowly getting out my camera and was ready for a really really great shot... but when I hit the button the camera made the 'battery low' sound and turned off. It was so cold it had frozen up. I could almost hear the woody woodpecker laugh coming from the bird, (-8 so, cool encounter for me but no pics for you, sorry! I hope everyone else had a great summer and fall and is heading into an awesome festive season, (-8 I kind of want to drive to the city to buy a new TV on black friday (the one I want is only in the store, not online) but it's supposed to snow a ton the next few days... we'll see, (-8

I need to start a winter thread, (-8
So, this is off topic and fairly un-festive but was something I found wildly interesting and thought I'd share! Especially in this season of online shopping and having lots of friends around here who travel and book stuff online.
I was watching a program on the CBC (Canada tv...) about how several companies (especially most of the major travel sites, but including some other sites like Amazon) which are involved in changing the prices you see based on your cookies and location as a means to charge people more if your browser history suggests they can get more from you. For example, if you are from a richer country and your browser history contains some tracking cookies from higher end shopping sites you might get a different listed price for booking a hotel room or buying electronics. The only reason is to of course charge you as much as they think they can get from you...
...and this is fairly easy to test, and something I played with for a few days which was... kind of eye opening! The easiest way to see a big difference (in both prices and targeted adds) is to visit any sort of travel site (like say Expedia) in your regular browser and then open an Incognito (or whatever it is called on the browser you are using) and just search the same things.
For example, we did a huge Japanese game recently and I definitely googled a lot of Japanese info, especially high end vacations, luxury items and ridiculously expensive properties... so I used that bias and tried to look up Japanese hotel rooms and actually found that I could often find prices for the same places with price discrepancies in the $10-30 area!
It's becoming a bit of a hobby of mine now to check this stuff... and this might be able to save some of you some money if you are ever interesting in trying this sort of stuff out.
On the program they also noted that they sometimes got different results from using their phone browsers as well, something I didn't test but if your interested in trying this out...
It would also be interesting to play with a VPN on this on, something where you can spoof your location. If you were going to book a room in Japan it wouldn't matter if you were from Africa or America, but I bet you'd be charged a higher price if you were from America...

Its TRUE! I tested it with incognito mode AND clearing my cookies/downloading a whole different browser engine. It was INSANE.
So, the reason I had to do this.. Paul's Oma passed away last month. It was sudden but expected. The trouble was we needed to get him a ticket to Holland and back. But well, it kept coming up with SUPER high cost tickets. Which was stressing me out like no one's business. But luckily, when I swapped to a new browser with no cookies/history we found some flights that were more reasonable. And by reasonable I mean, at least I wasn't going to wipe the entire savings out on a single ticket.
Suffice it to say; its a dirty game they play. u.u

Insidious isn't it!? Travel sites definitely seem to be the worst for this... When I was tinkering with booking Japanese rooms (just for testing...) I found some deals where I could save like $20 a night without even really trying or searching hard...
Now that I'm aware of this kind of thing it'll really make me double check my internet shopping searches! ...find something I like on ebay/amazon and my automatic reflex will now be to check the same thing in another browser just to see!
...sneaky evil internet...

January has been a slow month for me! I broke myself by accident clearing ice from the driveway a few weeks ago and still am not 100% but it really slowed me down not being able to even use my mouse for a bit... (and contributed to my slowness with the last bit of Yule certing and answering my mail.) I'm still super excited to get out and use my new camera though! We keep going back and forth between super snowy photogenic and totally blah icy grey. The roads hidden beneath about 2 inches of ice and snow which sounds bad but really it helps to fill in all the bumps and potholes, (-8 so not to bad (until it starts to seriously melt)... On way more fun notes, I got these for Pooka on her birthday, (-8 also, does anyone have any opinions of Nintendo Switch RPGs? I want to pick one up but am not sure where to start! A few that look good to me are all part of series (like Fire Emblem, Witcher and Atelier) and I'm not sure if you can just jump in one them... either way I was just curious if anyone liked (or hated!) anything in particular or had and advice on where you might start, (-8

DNA results came in. No aboriginal in there but there are some...interesting results. Egyptian? Not recent mind, going back 300 years.
Im not sure how accurate the ancestory part is though because there should be something there and it didn't pick it up so im taking that bit with a 'general idea'
Now. The health and trait bit...SO interesting! These I think are a bit more focused because there are actual DNA markers that prove its not a general idea. You cant deny your own dna markers.
It..also shows that its not in my head. MA, its not in your &%$*&( head!! I..need to actually you know...believe it because I keep second guessing myself. Lactose intolerance and celiac both came up--while the markers indicate its possible (and int he case of celiac can certainly develop full blown later on), it proves that my stomach going nuts isn't in my head.
Also---
ho-hoot! hoo-hoot! ho-ho--RAWR!

I wonder if I should do one of those DNA test someday... just for the novelty of it. My family is so very diverse and well traveled... it would be more a checklist of what isn't in mix!
*heads off to tidy up some of the photobucket ugly before out next fun thing!* We've got two awesome things on the way!

Ah, not much choice about it for me unfortunately... Just a terrible amount of ice this year, freezing, thawing, refreezing, repeat... and it's gotta be cleared! That being said I'm feeling much better now! I really pulled something earlier though and it took weeks to get moving again.
at least the majority of groundhogs agree that it looks like an early spring is one the way, (-8
