I hope everyone's summers have been filled with awesome! I've been lost in Japan myself with our current RP...
I figured we might need a general chat thread for keeping up, (-8
Mr. Pooka updates...
My inbox seems to be clear of any 'to do' things (there's a couple of messages I want to get back to though!). If you've been waiting for something make sure to resend it to me in case it got missed somehow!
Our current RP has been amazing, (-8 I think Pooka's been adding notes in the shoutbox... I really want to do a role-call or description of all the characters from that game, it's such a diverse and fun group of outlaws and supporting cast!
I bought myself an Instant Pot and I'm totally in love with it! Does anyone else have one of these? If anyone is interested I'd be happy to share any tips and recipes I've made in mine... I've loved everything so far, (-8
...also finally got to see Avengers Endgame and it was pretty good, (-8 I'm also pretty intrigued with some the next phase of marvel stuff... though it's some of the fringe things I'm most excited about I think, like Tigra & Dazzler, Ghost Rider and the New Warriors... and more Cloak and Dagger! (The first season was really really good!)

Apparently hubby and I were making a chatter thread at the same time. O.o I was spending forever typing up mine and he made one part way through that and posted it. lol So I'm just going to copy/paste the following message and delete my thread. >.> We're still in our current home Anime RP, the story's not quite done yet. We had a side adventure where a couple of the characters wound up in Edo period Japan. There was a lot of fighting evil kitsune, stopping a godzilla sized evil nature spirit, entertaining a river dragon for three days straight, then saving four elemental dragons who had been put to sleep by a crazed mage centuries before. (They had to go through the magician's magical pagoda and eventually fight him where he had turned himself into some sort of iron golem. O.o ) The side jaunt into the past is nearly done, then it's back to the present and trying to save Tokyo from an oni alien invasion. ^_^ The side game has a very romantic background to it though. In the present Eiko (the maiko geisha, poke trainer) her danna is a very eccentric billionaire who was obsessed with her the minute he met her. She knew some things about this mysterious man, such as how he was centuries old and still was in his 30s, etc. She's madly in love with him and recently he went missing. (OOC he's stuck in a pocket dimension unable to return due to lack of magic, but she doesn't know that. He just went missing the moment the aliens showed up and magic was drained from the world.) The aliens used a ray to send them back to pre-historic times where she met a group of people who were time/dimension travelers, and met a version of her danna who was her age at the time. O.o He was there with his family hunting down a deadly vampire intelligence (a sort of demonic, demi-god powered entity that creates vampires and tries to take over worlds in a near vampire apocalypse.) It has been turning local, intelligent, raptors into vampires. After a big adventure of fighting literally hundreds of raptor-vampires (Nosforaptors? Vampraptors? They never settled on what to call them. lol), they went on to find and fight the intelligence. Usually they spread over many dimensions, but this one had already been destroyed in the others and was being held in this one by techno-magic and it was weakened. So the group was in a huge, very dangerous fight to destroy it and succeeded. When they were to go back Eiko and Sabburo (her danna) just couldn't seem to part with each other. He had fallen in love with her, and she already desperately loved him and didn't want to go back to a time where he was missing or gone. Sabburo had traveled back in time to help stop the vampire intelligence but was going back to this current actual time period (which was in the 1600s). He checked for the paradox if he brought Eiko with him, and discovered that she could be there for about two and a half years before it would be paradox inducing... if she was careful. She brought along a couple of friends who have joined in on the adventure. That time is nearly up and soon they have to part and she needs to go back to missing him. It's so extra romantic because when Eiko first met him in present day he was obsessed with her and she didn't know why this strange billionaire was working so hard to be her patron, hire her constantly for entertaining, giving her big gifts, etc, when he didn't really know her. She now knows that he already knew her as his first love and had sought her out again. ^_^ Now she just needs to stop the aliens so magic will stop being drained by them, and she can get her danna back. (pose from Senshistock on DA)

...so, whens that campaign coming out? And have you prodded Wizards yet? Theya re seriously missing out on a major opportunity here >> Ive...been...well, typical motherhen stressful MA. Sisters wedding was on sunday. I survived? But im still going though a physical medical backlash. I think I pushed it too hard for her. Her other halfs family now knows why im the mother hen...and also seem to appreciate it. My new brother in law kept on needing my emergency kit and the boys were alll over the place. I did learn to trust my gut though. I wanted to bring tape and my flipflops but didn't because I thought the bondic I brought would be enough and my shoes were wedges and known for comfort. Well. My sisters nail broke off and the bondic worked in a pinch but tape would have been better...and I forgot that I had wide feet. Bandaids got me through but im still dealing with bruises and blisters >> Didn't think she was going to go for the traditional thing though. Sister in law is supposed to steal her new brother in laws shoes...the better I hide them, the more money I can bribe out of him. Bridesmaids ended up doing something sililar and I think I ended up shocking my fiancé when I ran to go hide his shoes once they got them >> Anywyas. That's one down. Now freaking about my own. Still fighting with the parents on what should and shouldn't be done. Im sure the mom-zilla will continue on >> About the instapot- yes, yes and yes My fiances mom loves hers and its easy when I use ours though its clunky and im the only one that has the galls to relieve the pressure/know how to do it properly *shrugs* Try making risotto. That is all >>

melodysangel You had in the shoutbox something to do about chalk with the wedding? I'm curious. Hubby said that I should put up more pictures that I've been drawing lately. Tanoshii, an Oiran (courtesan) from Edo who opened up a tea house with Eiko. She's going to be going into the future (present) with them and will be really out of touch with the world. O.o They came upon a couple of wish spells and Eiko wished for some elemental stones and was able to evolve her vulpix. Entertainingly the fan made d20 had ninetales as having one 4th level spell for each tail and had 'polymorph' as a suggestion. So I went with a greater 'alter self' that lasts one hour per level. So, her ninetales needed a humanoid form. lol Due to her living in a tea house she has a oiran-like look about her (but not like a traditional oiran). Kita the ninetales in her human form. They also found a magic item that polymorphs the wearer for 24 hours, so Eiko gave it to her umbreon Hibiki. lol One of her friends she brought with her was Yuichi, a neko cat-girl maid who worked for Mr. Ito (her danna) And, I think last of the pictures, is Ito Sabburo, her danna when he was her age. I believe that's it, I could have missed a pic or two though.

Its interesting to see humanoid forms of pokemon. I think I may have tinkered with it a bit but it didn't end up being a thing^^'
Chalk! Yeah. Im surprised its confusing everyone ^^' Its used for the bride (or in this case, groom since his suit was white) incase they get foundation/makeup or food stains on them. It can also be used as a blotting stick since it can absorb oil.
The poor boy had his whole shoulder in someones foundation. Later on his sleeve was covered in pastasauce...and then lipstick. I think I was on his butt 4 or 5 times. He even got one of the bridesmaids to poke me when I was sitting down saying my sister needed me and something about 'chalk'.
My mom questioned me about why the heck id bring chalk. Well..she learnt pretty quick after the ceremony >>
ETA: Mr. Pooka should recheck his PM box <3

^^
I had a wedding emergency kit for my friend who got married in 09 and knew that her bridesmaids wouldn't think about it so I made a checklist then showed her a few days before. The bandaids were also quite popular, and I totally made sure she had a straw to drink from so things wouldn't be a mess.
I guess I was like a second maid of honor as far as responsibilities went? Her train got stuck a few times and I needed the sewing kit briefly. The receiving table was a 'bit' of a mess as well..though the boys DID try.
After mom gave them crap..heh >>

Ooooo ... I was thinking about picking one up as a Christmas gift for Momma.
Which one did you get? What size?
I hear you can even make a cake in them? I don't need to get the wi-fi ones.
Gorgeous Orientals Pooka! It reminded me that I have a friend who wants me to make her an Asian/Oriental themed journal. I guess I'll be chasing tea stained paper around the yard sometime soon ... * cackles *

A home RP update since I've been asked to do this. ^_^ First off... Usagi done up in Edo fashion. They were joined up with by Yatori (the staff/shikomi-zue should be longer) I also have a pencil sketch of her done up with a headscarf and looking more rural. She's a blind goze (traveling blind women folk musicians) and samurai. I've always wanted to RP a blind swordfighter like Zatoichi, and found an archetype for samurai which is exactly that! Whoo! She's from another world as well and was originally from Minkai in Golarion (the Pathfinder setting). She was blinded by a demon's curse (only removable with a wish) before being cast into this other world. (she re-trained for the archetype.) And Koharu (who doesn't have a picture yet) who is an amazon dressed up like a monk met up with Yatori. Spoilered become some of this is violent and goes past the PG-13 forum rating. There was some suspicious activity going on with a shipping vessel that kept leaving this port town where people weren't returning. Yatori, who had barely survived her last party's nearly full party kill by rokuro-kubi had discovered, treasured as if it was precious, dried fish with the monsters. It was ... odd to say the least, so she took the box's lid with the merchant symbol to ask around at the town it came from. She met up with Koharu, and then overheard the characters when they arrived talking about trying to figure out what was happening in this town. Yatori approached them and they teamed up. So like adventurers they ran towards danger and decided to book passage on the ship that the dried fish, and disappearances were coming from.
After a week and a half journey past other small islands they came to Masa island. It was oddly full of only young and beautiful women with no men. O.o They told them some story about how a star fell and hit the island two hundred years ago which had a radiation that would make the women stay young and beautiful, and the men get sick and die. There was supposedly monsters in the jungles beyound that people disappeared if they went past the village.
Things seemed, really suspicious, especially since Usagi could detect that a huge number of the women there were evil. So Eiko cast detect thoughts and started to read a few minds. The things they were thinking and had planned for the men were... horrific. O.o Not to mention just evil thoughts in general, things that I can't type up here. O.O
So, they decided to use a couple spells that keep them awake and sneak out during the night to see what was going on. (power word 'smile' from the book of passion. lol It removes bad emotions and wakes you up.)
On the way out they noticed a group of the women at the beach paying off the ship's men as they were getting ready to leave and abandon the characters there!
There was a fight where they stopped the sailors from leaving (a few died. Usagi was too excited to use 'call lightning storm' and blasted a bunch of them with lightning), and they scared off the villagers who were at the beach. But then... all hell broke out. The women were a clan of ninjas (I think? The full details haven't been revealed) and were attacking them with poison darts, shuriken, etc. Some of the characters fought mercifully, some cut them down, but Yatori (who is blind but has blindsight which lets her sense movement and people within 40') could tell that many villagers/ninja were sneaking away into the jungle. So the characters followed in a chase up to what seemed like a lovely lake.
It was a huge fight, and highly dangerous, then Yatori heard movement again from some of the women who were down, she could hear bones cracking and re-forming, then movement. They wouldn't die! They would just regenerate. Subbaro cut off one of their heads to have it glare at him. O.o They tried silver, they tried jade, they tried staking them, burning them... to no avail. Sabburo knew that they weren't undead since he could sense undead. They just couldn't be killed, no matter what the group did! Eventually they were piled into a bonfire and hoped that it would work. Tanoshii (the oiran, divine caster and specialized diviner) used the time to do a divination to discover that they were on the right track but needed to burn them to ash, not even a bone chip left.
In the lake, chained up, starved and feral, were three mermaids. When they tried to feed and rescue them (where they glared at the characters like feral wolves) they noticed that the tail halves were badly scarred and flayed. O.O
The characters from modern day had been reading manga from Rumiko Takahashi, who was the creator of Urusei Yatsura (the setting the aliens they were fighting in modern Japan were from) had also written a darker manga about how people who ate mermaids would become immortal. Yikes! So they figured out what was going on, even more disturbing were the shipments of 'dried fish' they were trading! (ETA: apparently it's an old Japanese myth about mermaids, that if you eat their flesh you will become immortal.)
That's where they are right now. Trying to figure out what to do to help the mermaids, and getting ready to head into the jungle afterwards. The whole 'star making them immortal' thing was obviously a lie, so the men are probably safe as well. Eiko did read from the villager's thoughts that there is something with the jungle that people don't come back from... so like adventurers they're going to run towards danger again.
There we go, all updated.

Oh it's totally on my list! I've never made a risotto I've been happy with, but I need to try it in my instant pot! Do you have any specific recipes that you've used and like MA? I got an 6 quart instant pot Ultra... instantpot.com/portfolio-item/ultra/If you're looking to get one for the holidays I'd wait until Black Friday... every electronics place seems to fight over who has the cheapest Instant Pots on big sale days, (-8 (I got mine from Best Buy. They had a big surprise sale to compete with Amazon's Prime day. It was almost half the regular price, (-8) I'm not sure if the type matters to much as they all seem to do the basics that I was looking for... the newer ones have more options but they are all options I don't know if I'll every bother using anyways, (-8 I haven't gotten into deserts yet but I've loved everything I've made so far... it does ribs wonderfully and I expect it to do lots of wonders with other pieces of meat when the fall starts cooling things off, (-8. I also made some honey garlic chicken legs and sausage pasta that both turned out great! I can also add some recipe links to what I've made so far it anyone would like, (-8 (I'm pretty new to the device so I haven't really begun to experiment yet... gotta learn the basics first!)

Wow, I can't believe that summer is nearly over already! Home RP update time. (Only because I was asked to do this. ^^; ) First, pics....Tanoshii again. Junko, the bosozoku/sukeban (biker girl gang) girl who is a miko (shinto priestess). She got all done up in more traditional clothing for being back in Edo Japan. Lyric and Usagi Usagi close up Okay, RP story updates... Warning: violent descriptions that go beyound our PG13 rating.
After stopping the town of cannibalistic, mermaid eating women the group ventured further into the island. There they fought powerful skeletons and eventually found a more futuristic set up fort. It was built from the wreckage of an escape shuttle. There were two men (an android, samsaran and an orc) who were all good and safe behind wards around the encampment/fort. They learned the history of what happened to the island.
Apparently an evil necromancer (who we later found out was a cougar cat-woman) was traveling from world to world looking for young men to capture and do a mixture of play and evil experiments on. (I didn't pick it up, but cougar... young men. Gah! I love cougar jokes and somehow I missed that one!! lol ) Her ship had crashed on this planet, on the island, a couple of hundred years ago. Typically handsome young men would be sought out by her servants/slaves and put into stasis. The ship was run on some sort of necromantic engine that she would put people into so it could eat their souls and power the ship. It was what was causing the island to be so terrifying. The android and samsaran had rescued a bunch of men in stasis, but sometimes the pods would open during the couple of centuries and they would try to explain and make life as good as they could for those who woke. It's why there was a young teenage orc (who was good).
The necromancer had fled the island a couple of centuries earlier.
There were traps from her ship. One was a roaming, invisible, teleportation trap that would capture somebody and teleport them into one of the stasis pods (where the undead would pull them out and feed them to the engine, the former person coming out as a powerful skeleton). The other was that the ships 'imaginarium' (pretty much a holo deck) was mal-functioning. The necromancer had some pretty warped programs in there so it would really be a terrifying experience trying to get near the ship.
So like adventurers they 'ran towards danger' (as Usagi tends to say) and made their way towards the ship. A few spells helped them avoid the teleport traps, but they didn't have anything to help with illusions.
Each person had their own nightmare illusions. The nightmares were randomly rolled and entertainingly Yatori (the blind swordswoman) only had visual ones so she didn't notice. I won't bother going into details but they were pretty disturbing. It was tricky knowing what they fought if it was real or not, they had to be careful not to attack allies. Hoards of undead could be seen through the porthole windows shambling forth from the surrounding jungle. It wasn't know if it was an illusion or not (it wasn't). Eventually they made the way to the engine, and Sabburo had skills in futuristic tech, and Usagi had modern mechanics, so together they figured out how to shut it down and stop the illusions.
Then three huge, starry black arms came crashing through the engine towards them. For those who know D&D/Pathfinder, it was three nightwalkers!! (super powerful undead creatures.) The group succeeded and defeated them, stopping the engine and undead. With that the army of skeletons outside collapsed into many, many bones.
Yay! Done that part! They went back to the encampment, let them know that they were successful and the survivors there released the rest of the men from their stasis. Since the group will have a teleporter/dimension hopping wizard back in a year they told them that they would come back since not all of them could make it by in Edo period Japan.
Next (and last part in Edo Japan)
Half a year later, two yamabushi monks showed up at the tea house in Edo. They heard of a powerful diviner (Tanoshii the oiran) and needed to know about their monastery since one of the higher ups had bad feelings about what was going on. The divination verified that something really terrible was going to happen there so the group packed up and left once again to help them.
They arrived at the monastery to see that it 'seemed' to be fine. They were told the history of how the founder was rescued in the snow by a kind kami spirit and taken to this spot which is a place in between two cliffs that keeps the harshest of the weather out. The monks there were basically a bunch of paladins (holy warriors) who followed tenants of beauty and goodness. There were a plethora of statues of this kami spirit and they pretty much worshiped her (or her ideals at least).
That night, after a nice tour and being shown to rooms, around midnight all of the fires suddenly went out. The monks were being possessed by some sort of cold effect. Tanoshii cast cold resistant spells on a couple of monks (the first that they had met) and it cured them. But she only had so many spells. They had to fight off pretty much the whole temple using non-lethal combat. (thankfully most of them have merciful weapons! Yay!) Outside was a huge storm that they could barely make their way through to get to the other side of the monastery.
There were monks (paladins), and some very powerful oni and a ice elemental bear kami spirit (REALLY tough to defeat!). Then they made their way to the founder's room to find him changed and there was the beautiful woman standing before him (a yuki-onna... snow woman). There was another fight where they took her out (after she was down Eiko put her into a poke ball. lol)
But the freezing and storm didn't cease. As they started to head outside they saw the quick slither of something serpentine and very huge whip past. The storm was so bad that they couldn't see farther then 10 feet (except for Yatori's blindsight, she had an inkling of what was going on). They were pointed in the right direction by Yatori to be blasted by cold, but they already had cold resistance spells on so it barely hurt them.
They moved forward, pushing through thigh deep snow, to get close enough to discover that it was some sort of dragon... a reeeealy big one. Usagi is a powerhouse and she was struggling to fight it as it took her down half way with one round of attacks. Even with everybody fighting they were barely hurting it before it started to take off into the sky to get more, obscured, spells at the group. But, as it flew up they were able to get attacks in on it for moving and it nearly was able to get to it's vantage point when Lyric hit it with his sword of sharpness. Now, on a critical that sword lops off a body part. But the dragon was serpentine with no legs/wings and only had a head to target. Randomly rolling a limb actually hit the head. O.O The dragon collapsed, it's head rolling. Lyric was a total hero (and not fully happy about it, he hates having to kill anything).
The storm stopped.
Now the paladins/monks are having a bit of a crisis of faith. But three of the characters followed goddesses (from other worlds) of beauty and love. So those three stayed behind for a few weeks to teach them about their faiths to help them find guidance again. (Not trying to convert, but to use philosophies from their faiths to help them find their own philosophies again.)
And.. that is where we are.
(In a nutshell... Fought a necromantic ship with it's undead powered engine on the island to stop undead. Later traveled to a monastery to save paladins/monks from a very powerful yuki onna and dragon.) So in game it's a couple months until the characters are back in modern day, and that was the last story in Edo Japan. We'll be talking through the next couple of (in game) months over the next (RL) day or two, then back to getting ready to fight oni aliens in Tokyo! (Although they have to take a trip into the ocean to get special fruit that temporarily return magic to fight them.)
