Reindeer Games~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~*~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome one and all to the outskirts of the North Pole! The season of Christmas is upon us, bringing merriment and cheer to all even in these difficult times.
Now of course, Santa and the elves are highly busy with last minute preparations, but Santa's faithful reindeer are, well....they have some free time on their hands before Christmas Eve. They are more than happy to have visitors - and Rudolph is quite ecstatic to see new potential playmates. He loves his games and he's got a secret stash of prizes to make the merriment more inciting!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~*~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This thread is going to run for a week, with a new task/game to participate in each day. There will be 24 hours to post or PM, depending on the game, and all correct entries will be entered into a raffle for prizes! And if there are enough people around, from time to time, I might run some smaller games in the thread as well! Please let me save a few posts first. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~*~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Merry Christmas!

Tempting Treats - Closed Now this game has a simple premise - one of Rudolph's favorite things about Christmas is all the carrots that good little sphinx girls and boys leave out for him and the other reindeer as they help Santa deliver all his presents. Sometimes, when the others aren't looking, Santa will even slip him a bite of a cookie or two! So for this game, you'll need to tempt Rudolph with your most delicious Christmas treats! Post three to five images in the thread with whatever nibbles you think that Rudolph would like most! Deadline for entries is 12/14/2020 2:30PM (according to the clock on the bottom of the message board homepage) Good luck!

Word Search - Closed Now a different kind of contest! Perhaps a less greedy and gluttonous one, ahem. For this game, no posting your entries in the thread! Send a message to jeanstarwind with your answers - feel free to mark the digital image in Photoshop or Paint equivalent, or you can print off the image and circle with a pen/pencil. Whatever is easiest for you! Just be sure that your entry is legible. Deadline for entries is 12/15/2020 4:00PM (according to the clock on the bottom of the message board homepage) Good luck!

Haiku - Closed The next contest will test the more creative side of our brains! You'll need to write a Haiku! For any who don't know or need a refresher, a haiku is a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five. The theme for these haikus should be Christmas based, but anything within that wide parameter is acceptable! You could do one about Christmas trees or lights, presents, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, cookies/baking, snowball fights, or even Rudolph himself. (No extra brownie points for that last one, though ) You can double check your syllables here: www.haikusyllablecounter.com/Post your haiku here in the thread with the title 'Haiku Entry' in bold and red! Deadline for entries is 12/16/2020 4:15PM (according to the clock on the bottom of the message board homepage) Good luck!

Coloring Page - Closed One of Rudolph's favorite parts of Christmas is all the bright, sparkling Christmas trees! He gets to see a lot from up above as he pulls Santa's sleigh through the night, but he can't usually get a very good look at all the really pretty ones indoors while they're up waiting on the roof. So color him up a Christmas tree! As elaborate or simple as you would like. You can color your tree digitally or if you'd like to print it off and color with crayons/colored pencils/markers that's more than fine, too! Post your tree here in the thread with the title ' Oh Christmas Tree!' in bold and green! Deadline for entries is 12/17/2020 4:20PM (according to the clock on the bottom of the message board homepage) Good luck!

Tempting Treats - EntryFor me, it doesn't start to feel like the Christmas/Yule season until my dad starts making stöllen. (Photo found on Wikimedia Commons) Then, most years, we travel to visit with relatives for Christmas, and someone usually makes pfeffernüsse! (Photo found at bakerbettie.com/holiday-party-made-easy-part-1-pepper-nuts/) And for Christmas dinner at my aunt's, the meal wouldn't be complete without one of her delicious Yule logs! (she's a retired professional baker) (Photo found at baristanet.com)
