Stave Three: The Second of the Three Spirits
What a nightmare that Spirit of the Past had shown Selene... "I'm glad that heavy-handed nonsense is over and done with!" the priestess said aloud to no one in particular. Was any of it even real? Did I just imagine all of that to somehow torture myself? Selene IV sighed and took a deep inhale... and something smelled amazing! Was that roasted goose, or maybe pastry and wine or all of the above?
Turning to leave her room she was taken aback but a bright figure sitting up right in front of her, surrounded and a magnificent feast! Her full head of red hair trailed to the ground she she wielded a magnificent flaming torch!
"At least you've brought something to eat!" Selene IV smiled as she eyed the roast goose and pondered what savory treats were hidden in that pie.
"Are you hungry then? Lets go get something to eat!" exclaimed the Ghost as Selene reached for the feast. A moment before her paw touched the goose everything around the priestess and spirit faded away and changed into a bustling market filled with vendors! Elaborate desserts, festive pies, candies from faraway lands shaped like fruits and tiny animals... and those were just the first few stalls! Every direction Selene IV looked were more and more people selling presents and treats for the Yule holiday. A group of northern priestess sang in a the square and children walked by snacking on roasted nuts. Sphinxes carrying piles of gifts shuffled through the crowd trying to navigate without being able to see over their bounty...
"Ah, this lesson is easy spirit! Consumerism and selling stuff to take advantage of people's need to participate in a holiday using... peer pressure? Brilliant!" Selene IV smiled, as she thought that this spirit was going to be way easier to deal with.
"Hum, well, that's not what I was going for exactly," the Spirit of the Present said cautiously "can't you see the just the joy of everyone? The mood is happy and giving, the people jolly!"
"Sure, because they're shopping! Good work spirit you're really hitting this one home for me!" Selene IV said with pride.
"Maybe we'll try something else..." The spirit's voice continued as the scene melted into another...
