Happy Holidays! This year we're doing things a little differently, but still similar to a few events we've had in the past. We'll be telling a story with interactive games themed towards the narrative. ^_^ As the days progress, and the characters appear, more items will be added (I've created a ton of templates this year). Along with many pieces of outfits, we have sphinxes to give away, including a set of four extra special sphinxes (or maybe even more super special ones >.> ). The story is basically canon for the setting, but with a bit more caricature of the characters to make it flow better. This event will run from today (Dec 17th) until the 21rst, with 'maybe' an epilogue. So sit back, grab your favourite holiday drink, maybe some cookies, and listen to 'A Yuletide Carol'. ((Chatting in the thread is encouraged! )) (( Story posts will come from Selene and Sahret's accounts.... hopefully we don't mess that up. lol ))

Stave One: The Priestess' GhostHow to start a traditional Yule story... ah, yes...Selene IV reclined on her divan and took in the sight of handsome male Sphinxes lounging nearby fulfilling their eye candy duties to a tee. A handsome antlered male fed her a piece of candied salmon while another slowly waved his fan of feathers and palm fronds. A third kingly male shook the water from his mane as he pawed slowly out of the perfumed bathing pool as if in slow motion... Selene IV liked where this was going! The tan furred male pawed over towards the priestess and in a manly whisper he asked "would you like some jingle jingle jingle"? What the heck? He held up a pair of bronze jingling bells and began to shake and ring them in her face! The priestess opened her eye slowly and the dreams faded and fled her mind like mice from a cat... The sound of jingling came from near her window, growing louder. Her frown also grew as she stormed to the window to see what this torturous dream destroying noise was coming from. A pair of younger priestess with the help of some magician were hanging garlands of Yule bells and holly on the outside of the Temple of Bastet! Scarabs, she cursed! Why were people obsessed with this random holiday she thought as she pawed from her room to the Temple, followed by her own personal invisible storm cloud. Her mood was not changed for the better as she saw several other priestess and staff decorating the inside of the Temple with garlands of evergreens, bells and other ornaments. She pawed through the kitchen and found cups of hot coco instead of her favorite warm cream and cookies in place of her breakfast fish. How could this day get any worse she lamented!

Sahret had been helping the other priestesses decorate the temple, beside the Heb-Bastet this was the most wonderful time of the year! She loved how a new holiday had shown up in Ahket over the last decade since it was fun having this event during the 'last month of the flood'. From time to time the portals even brought in refreshing snow! The head warrior priestess was just beginning a break from decorating to have some hot, sweet cocoa with some of the other giggling priestesses when she noticed a very grumpy looking Selene IV enter. The two of them haven't always been the closest of priestesses, but Sahret frequently tried to bridge the gap between them. With a smile she hopped up to greet her Bastet sister, hoping to bring some holiday cheer to her sourpuss. Leaping forward before Selene, Sahret began to cheerily smile and sing along with some of the carols echoing through the temple... Sahret hoped that it would at least bring a smile to Selene's face, even if it resulted from her ridiculous antics.

Nope, no smile, if anything it seemed to make her priestess sister scowl more. Perhaps Sahret would try something else.
"Happy Yuletide my sister Selene IV." her tone was jovial. "We're getting ready for the holiday, it's nearly here! All of use are looking forward to the celebration and feast on Yule. There will be singing, dancing, roast goose, pastries, 'mulled' wine and even this new desert that those from Katterheim brought.... figgy pudding." that should cheer up Selene, even she couldn't turn her nose up at festivities and feasting. "We'll have a fabulous time!"

Mr. Pooka is making onigiri for dinner tonight! Woo! Also, we watched a TON of Christmas Carol movies over the last month getting ready for this. We've been working on it since November! ETA: Also, I've been working on Heb stuff since last Heb! I made a bunch of rough sketches last year, then a bunch more over the last couple of weeks. I even have two of the classes fully templated which have a lot of pieces to them. I have at least a dozen or more rough sketches for wigs, tons of items, and rough designs for nine more classes (and many more to go). My brainstorm/wish list is HUGE!

"This should cheer up Selene IVSo, as a kid I remember getting up early ont he 25th to put together a traditional german cookie plate to give away to family with my grandmother. there would be atleast 3 or 4 different cookie types, a few types of german candy/err...liquer beans, and in the middle there would be a marzipan pig (or a bar) or a santa. Im sure someone will remind me what these are called...and ill hopefully write it down this time! I try to atleast somewhat follow that tradition each year though due to dietary restrictions cant do the spread my grandmother had. This plate looks similar--I recognize some of the cookies. Hers would be a bit bigger and fuller though Also--bonus pupper picture..taken last night. Hes still demanding attention so I need to poof after this and tend to his needs ^^' If drawn, id love a copy of the holiday background if possible^^

Selene IV made a noncommittal "hurmmm" and sort of nodded or shook her head at her friends invitation. Wild reindeer couldn't drag her to that nightmarish sounding party celebrating Yule. She pawed away looking for some solace from this nonsensical, so called 'festival'. Ah, the back veranda seemed quiet and free, no decorations or Sphinxes capering about about anywhere. Finally some peace on earth!

This should cheer up Selene IVEarmuffs My favorite holiday tradition is advent calendars. Even when we were kids, Rasa and I would make a Christmas chain each year and tape it to the pantry door with paper rings that we decorated for each day. I think the longest one we made was 30+ rings long. Now we have three advent calendars that we break out each year. The one below is our newest addition. XD
