Hmm, Mr. Pooka made a post and he didn't mention a very important thing for us... our roof blew off again yesterday!! Seriously, second time this has happened to us! Thankfully it wasn't raining, and we were able to get ahold of a roofing contractor who showed up promptly, charged a very fair price, and fixed it. ^_^ We have a rubber roof that the wind caught and literally folded it up over itself and practically into the neighbour's yard.
Last time this happened a different contractor charged us about 4 times what the one did yesterday, and the previous one did a terrible job. The one that showed up last night did a wonderful job, and even tarred our roof where it had cracks from blowing over. ^_^

Happy anniversary phoenix and sanguine! I keep wishing I had my camera when I saw that lynx... and it keeps making me want to head out on a photo safari, (-8 For some reason this made me think of some kind of RL Pokemon Snap type thing. XD That is almost spot on! (-8 I've seen so many wonderful things and didn't have my camera on or ready or was driving and it wasn't a safe spot to stop... (I've often dreamed of having several cameras set up in our vehicle, like a dash cam, with one big red button mounted on the dash board you can just hit quick to get all the shots, (-8) When I spotted the lynx, it was already running away but was stuck/framed by a big rock cut so it couldn't just dash into the bush but had to run along the rock wall... would have been such a nice shot or video! ...and occasionally you just wander into these special rare Pokemon snap like situations... a few years back I was fairly deep in the woods after a huge (and beautiful snowfall). I was sitting under a tree, just being stealthy and quiet, listening to the birds and squirrels, when a massive flock of songbirds (I mean hundreds and hundreds) started landing on the exact tree I was sitting under. It was such a wonderful few minutes... they were soooo noisy and you could feel the tree vibrate with their movement and pecking (at this time of year they are scavenging for seeds and/or bugs under the bark)... just watching and listening to them was so magical! ...I actually had my camera in my pocket that day but didn't want to reach for it in case they noticed me... I just stayed still and watched them hop all around (including on the branch less then a foot from my face), (-8 ...kind of feels like achieving a rare encounter badge (-8

Oh my goodness, Pooka! I'm so glad you guys were able to get it fixed so promptly! I hate when home repairs just pop up out of nowhere like that. No lynx down here, Mr. Pooka, but we do have bobcats! Only seen one a couple of times - usually crossing the road in front of my car which is good for a heart attack. I do wish they'd stand off to the side for a moment so I could get a good look at them. ^^

Oh my goodness! That sounds terrifying! I'm so glad you were able to get it fixed so quickly!
We have bobcats as well, Jean, and a random albino buck that lives north of town.

You guys had me second guessing my wildlife knowledge, (-8 Where we live we have an overlap of territories where both lynxes and bobcats live... I had to do my research and make sure I actually saw a lynx! ...which I did, (-8 They do have similar faces, but this one was def a lynx. They are so much bigger than I would have thought, seeing one in the wild. My first thought when I saw it was that it was a dog... oddly because of the fluffy feet, long legs and thin body I probably got a poodle vibe before I knew what I was actually looking at. ...there as also been a few rumored cougar sightings up here as well... nothing substantiated but apparently they've been expanding their northern range quite a bit back into areas where they were thought to be extinct (they have caught some on camera and accidentally in traps in Manitoba, a days drive to the west...) I'd love to see one in the wild!
...and I'm almost done tagging all the Sphinxes in smugmug! just A, B and C to go, (-8 Oooo, and Pooka made another of my characters for me for my birthday, I might have to sneak him off to the bragging thread, (-8 He's the kind of guy who'd like to be shown off...

They're only available on the Gulf coast. Retta and I lived down there for a while when we were younger and my mother's entire family is from that area. They don't often migrate this far north especially since Katrina.

happy birthday phoenix! (-8 Sounds like a perfect treat day! mmm. carrot cake! (better than a carrot pie, so I've heard...) I had to look up Gold Brick Eggs too, and they do look yum! Idk if my fav is available outside of Canada, Laura Secord Eggs. They are a super dense creamy treat, (-8 (Idk if anyone should eat more than one a year for safety sake!) A few years ago they had some in a tin and it's always on my desk as a dice overlow atm. laurasecord.ca/secord-egg-300-g/
