Our Sphinxes folders are now searchable. This works much much better than our previous website. It's super easy and convenient and I've been so excited working on this project, (-8
How does it work
Simply open up smugmug to our owners folder, like this,
sphinxes.smugmug.com/Owner-Folders
and you'll see a search button on top right. Search for anything including as many search words as you wish. You can search for dancers, you can search for dancers with silkyears, you can search for dancers with silkyears and cateyes, ect.
Now for tagging purposes I have added most traits and classes as one word with no spaces. For example if you wanted to find 'feather wings' use 'featherwings' for your search.
Bloodlines and Subspecies are usually only listed by type and base traits are not noted. For Example, a Djet will be listed simply as Djet, I did not add assumed traits like djetface and djetbody. I did add additional or different traits like featherwings or quetzalcrests. Same for Crios, Hierocos, Mer and others.
Can't remember who your husband is? Search away! (and don't consider that you might be experiencing marriage issues!)
Now, I did personally enter information for over 5000 Sphinxes so there might be some typos, (-8 One big mistake I made was typing in Dragonwings for Batwings, but by the time I realized I didn't want to go back an fix it, (-8 so I'll add a note in our traits section! I'll prob put up a thread for corrections in the near future. Atm I'm just excited to be done and don't want to see how many mistakes I made, lol.
...also typing out silkyforelegfeathering and pupillesseyes so many times, yikes, (-8 also I realized I can type catface with only my left hand, lol. Super useful information!
Also individual folders are also searchable. Can't find one of your own Sphinxes or are just curious about how many assassins you own, easy peasy.
I have only added Sphinx names to users who are currently active (like owning something from the last Heb) I might keep adding more names as a get time but it's not a priority. If I missed you or an individual name, it's nothing personal of course, just a massive amount of data entry, usually at odd hours or when insomnia hit, (-8 You can note me in the corrections thread I mentioned above.
There is also now an option that makes a file names automatically a search keyword. So, when we are busy, like during an event, I might not have time to add extra information like traits but as soon as I drop it in your folder you can still search for its codeword, as we name each file (ex. EM999).
We might have extra options available in the future for adding codewords for some Sphinxes or group Sphinxes. For example I've tagged all Golden Paw (GP) and Hand of Darkness (HoD) thieves as well as a roleplaying group of Pooka and mine called the Yamasugi Outlaws (YSO) as a test. We might expand this option if it seems cool and fun and remains an appropriate amount of work, (-8
I've got a couple of other ideas for the future as well, like tagging everything when I revamp the items area. (perhaps with who can use certain things? like maybe search 'hat' and 'Greek' and 'Female' to see what's available? I'm not 100% on the hows yet, but I like the concept.)
So, this was several weeks of work but I'm so happy we have this option now! (-8
