((Some thematic music...)) There was a faint jingling in the air that caused Tove to look up with excitement! Oh, it must be him! It wasn't long after that others in the city heard the curious sound of bells in the sky and soon everyone was looking up. "There!" called a burly Viking Sphinx perched on the top beam of her longhouse and all eyes moved towards the bright red glow that lead a tiny flying sled, growing by the second, towards Katterheim.
The sled grew nearer and soon the... black horses could clearly be made out. Weren't they supposed to be reindeer? The glaring bright red glow wasn't coming from some deer's nose but rather the flaming mane and hooves of a terrifyingly fiery nightmare!
The sled itself was done all in blacks and reds, decorated in chains and gothic lacy frills, was teaming with massive sack nestled into a collection of holiday presents... now just what kind of holiday was yet to be seen... blackened Yule Trees, skull patterned sweaters and crudely stitched toys were all piled high in the sled, along with other... things...
"Ah, that's not Santa!" called the watchful rooftop Viking, who's berserker instincts overcame her and she hurled a massive battle axe at the sled which embedded itself in the sled, right beside one of the smiling dark clad females. She didn't even flinch at the hurling metal and grinned brightly at the wicked axe, a mere foot from her and proclaimed "What a fine axe, sister. The locals are already sending use such a fine gift." The second sister added "oh how wonderful. I've got a very good feeling about this."
The sled made it's decent and the thunder of clomping hooves loudly kicked up snow as the whole team reared and came to a halt along the main thoroughfare of Katterheim. As the snow settled, or melted into steam near the nightmare, everyone could clearly see the pale Sphinxes smiling and politely waving to the crowd. No one quite knew how to react. There was a collective jump scare that caused the group to flinch as a swarm of bats exploded from the sack and flapped over the crowd in a frighteningly dramatic scene.
Tove's eyes narrowed as she pondered this unexpected turn of events but she tried to hide her look but those nearby did hear her muttered "What the Holly?" |

  Caerdwyn: Merry Yuletide. Surprised aren't you? Gwendolyn: We bring you good will and salutations from the Blackmoon family in Lamoria. Caerdwyn: We have some terrible news. Santa has become indisposed this year. Gwendolyn: Our third cousin once removed happened to bite the jolly old elf when she was invited to sit on his lap to ask for presents. The bite itself wasn't so bad, but well, she is a werewolf you see and that is the real problem. Caerdwyn: It seems that Santa has contracted lycanthropy and we have another cousin working on a wolfsbane cure right now. Gwendolyn: But he said that the cure wouldn't be ready until after the holidays. Caerdwyn: Santa couldn't risk spreading the curse and then there is of course the uncontrollable biting problem, so unfortunately he cannot make his scheduled visit to Katterheim this year. Gwendolyn: He sends his regards and best wishes, at least I think that's what he howled at us. Caerdwyn: The Blackmoon family feels rather responsible and we apologize.Gwendolyn: Being that our family caused this problem we decided to fix the holiday.In perfect sync the pair smile delicately and motion towards an immense black cloth sack behind them on the sleigh.Caerdwyn: We put together some lovely presents from Lamoria to hand out.Gwendolyn: After studying what Yuletide was we did our best to follow the theme. |

Caerdwyn: The bad news about Santa aside, we're delighted to be learning about Yule. Gwendolyn: We've even been decorating trees in a most pleasing manner. Caerdwyn: Although we're not quite positive if they've been properly adorned. Gwendolyn: So we were hoping that you may be able to give us some pointers. Caerdwyn: Please help us trim a tree so we can have the proper holiday spirit. Gwendolyn: We do have some 'particular' tastes when it comes to these things though. ((OOC... Contest!))Trim a Tree!The twins are fascinated by this new holiday (at least new for them) and are trying hard to do it properly. The only problem is that they tend to not really like anything that isn't, well, gothy. So, the contest is to decorate a tree in a dark and gothic style. This could be a fully trimmed tree, a single ornament hung, a decorated dead tree (to look more gothy), or any other such decorations on a tree. Take a photo of your decorated tree with a paper showing your username with the words 'Trim the Tree' . Also, post the title 'Trim the Tree' in your post so it's easier to find. Those who enter properly will be entered into a draw for your choice of one of the following items... Rats in the Kitchen!Several servants, helpers and staff from the Blackmoon estate had been asked to help out with this festive project... and when the Blackmoon's ask, well, it's best to get on board! ...Plus this seemed like an excellent experiment to try out some cross class skill building! Our Sphinx above had a knack for finding just the right 'ingredient' for the right victim Sphinx and due to this festive project she'd found an actual knack for cooking things that... that just tasted good without the usual deadly side effects! Who would have ever thought? Yule was turning out to be so very interesting... now to get just the right balance of nightshade that tasted good, but not last meal good...--------------------------------------- To enter a draw for our 'Baker' simply make a post titled RATS! along with at least three different images of gothic looking/themed food... you can't go wrong with black... All of your images must be different than any images posted above yours (but you can repost your entry with new ones if someone beats you to a picture.) You have 24 hours from this post to enter this contest!

ResolutionsBoth of us had totally and completely forgotten about the year long contest from last Yule!! I looked through and it seems as if many of the sphinxes actually completed their resolutions, congrats! The contest started on page 24 of last year's event... Yule 2020If your sphinx successfully met their goal (by the end of this event) you may PM Mr. Pooka with a link to the page your resolution is on., what their successful goal was, and your choice of one of the items from this folder...  Sierra wanders in and nervously looks around. When told to pick something she hesitates but looks through what is there. She picks a Christmas hat and decides she will have it for the Holiday celebrations. (Alt cert if able) For when she wanders the School that is. She smiles at the others and moves back. |

 Tinsel came sprinting through the gates and straight into the festivities just starting. She could already smell the baked goods with the most mouth watering of spicy aromas, the smokey smell of a fire pit somewhere, and the crisp scent of fir trees in the air. "I hope everyone's having a good Yule so far! Where can you point me to the nearest baked goodies and toy stalls?" (A holly background cert for Tinsel, please!) |

So many festive sphinxes!!
As an extra note, last year we decided to make Katterheim our base for the Yule events (much like how Ahket is the base for the Heb~Bastet). We were going to do so last year, but tormenting Selene IV with ghosts was too entertaining and it needed to be in Ahket.
Anyhow, that's the plan, but you never know if themes will take us away from it.
