I have ... I'm confused. I'm anxiously waiting for the 2nd episode...maybe it will explain more? I actually like that I didn't know much from the beginning. For a pilot, it definitely had me asking a lot of questions, pondering fan theories, and generally wondering where they would take the series (or how it fits into the future MCU vision). I haven't read any of the comics so it's a mystery to me, but Oscar Isaac does such a fantastic job playing this new role. OOOH YES. I LOVED Our Flag Means Death. It's been awhile since I've seen original content (not adapted from a book, comic, or from another medium) and it was probably one of the most wholesome, down-to-earth, and hilariously good fun I've had in awhile. *puts on the Taika fan hat* I love Taika as a director, but I love him just as much as an actor. ^^ I am absolutely stoked for season two (or at least crossing all my fingers and toes it gets renewed)!

I know it's time for bed when I start googling things like "do slime monsters dissolve in water," but I really want to know the answer to this question for writing purposes. I have learned that their are certain slimes that live underwater and some that are amphibious, but what about land based slimes? Do they just gradually fall apart if someone drops them in the middle of the ocean? And who knew there were that many kinds of slime monsters?
*wanders off to bed muttering about slimes*

Hi all! Sorry for being so quiet, I've been working furiously trying to get things ready. We've been watching a lot of movies here based on this year's theme in the background. Quite a few of them are based after books, and some are made for T.V or originals. There is this one animated movie I super loved as a child, which was based after a book. (I loved it so much that for a time (after growing up) I had contemplated getting a tattoo of one of the main characters.) That's all I'm going to say about it since it may be too big of a hint. Anyhow, I hope that you guys are looking forward to this year's Heb. I 'would' do a countdown based on the theme but it's far, far too obvious if I did. So I'll probably use the same countdown gifs from last year. ^_^

today was a beautiful day. played outdoors in the dirt! cleaning up plant containers. revitalizing last years dirt! We stayed up late making seed tape. tearing newspaper into strips. making flour/water paste. sticking seeds in dots of glue. viola! homemade seed tape. We do a lot of square foot gardening, so these strips are a foot long. great for those itty bitty seeds. ie carrot seeds. still too early to do seed starts, like our tomatoes, but we did do a lot of perennial flower 'winter sowing' in water jugs! But today I was outside pretty much all day! Next week double digit temps! all our snow should be gone by then!!!but you know this is not the end of crazy cold weather. Our last frost date is the end of May! So Mother Nature, can still hit us with Snow! Bad Spellers of the World ... Untie!

(-8 I super loved this one! ...and that's a great note about it being original vs. adapted from another medium, that feels rarer and rarer. The topic has been in the front of my mind lately due to another terrible adaption I recently watched that makes me feel a bit cursed, (-8 A few years back in a book suggestion thread, I made mention of at least three (that I remember) series that I'd LOVE to see made into movies or shows. Unfortunately, all three have been since then and all of them were soooooo bad. (DMZ, Runaways and Y the Last Man). There have been lots of good translations, but it seems the ones I wished into existence were doomed to be terrible. I'll go back to just waiting and seeing I guess, (-8 (and keeping my fingers crossed for the upcoming Sandman) I'd love to see a second season of OFMD so badly! I do love Taika's humor as well and have loved virtually everything Rhys Darby has ever touched as well, (-8 I know it's time for bed when I start googling things like "do slime monsters dissolve in water," but I really want to know the answer to this question for writing purposes. I have learned that their are certain slimes that live underwater and some that are amphibious, but what about land based slimes? Do they just gradually fall apart if someone drops them in the middle of the ocean? And who knew there were that many kinds of slime monsters? *wanders off to bed muttering about slimes* There's lots of anime slimes, but each seems to come with their own rules if your searching for lore! The one I'm most familiar with is Suu from Monster Musume and it hints that to much water might be deadly... but there are ways to gelatinize and save herself, (-8 (I think I'd be entertained by the idea of one who just keeps absorbing water until she's a giant slime Kaiju, (-8) Oh, that does all sound so nice! I've only read about seed tape but it sounds like a super fun project when you're watching snow melt and ready to go, (-8 We've still got a few feet of snow up here but it's slowly dropping bit by bit and I think we've seen the last of any major snowfalls (though only a couple of hours north of us just had a big snow warning...)

Some insomnia and stormy weather worked to give us the free time to catch up with MoonKnight and it's really fun so far! Sio was right on mentioning Oscar Isaac's amazing job on this one! He's really doing an amazing job brining the character... characters to life! I do hope they lean a bit more into the 'netflix/marvel vibe' with the over all tone but I'm super happy with it so far, (-8
I also really enjoyed the Boba Fett show... I only had one quibble, but really I enjoyed most of the stuff the internet at large seemed to hate, like the Mods, I loved them and felt the fit in perfectly! (My only tiny quibble, without spoilering anything, was those two episodes the were a side trek about those other two characters. Not that they were not entertaining but I felt it messed with the flow. Somehow I feel that if the cut those two episodes from the overall series and even still released them as 'special bonus episodes' about the other characters as a surprise it wouldn't have disrupted the flow... just my humble opinion... I know, I'm probably the first person to post a Star Wars opinion online, (-8)
...and is anyone still watching any of the Star Trek shows? For the most part, I liked the first and second season of Discover and didn't mind some of the weirder stuff, but the third season was just sooooo painfully bad we had trouble watching it and kept putting it off for other stuff and kind of soured me to the whole show... and haven't had any incentive to watch the current season. The Picard show was also... ok to start but was overall kind of Meh, bordering on kind of bad, which was a huge disappointment cuz I was really looking forward to it! Now we both LOVED Lower Decks and every episode is pure gold, contrary to popular opinion. ...and I'm still excited and hopeful about Strange New Worlds... And I almost forgot Prodigy which we're slowly working through when there's time is actually way better then I thought it would be, but I had super low expectations, so... seems ok so far? Jury's still out on that one, (-8
and my last note of sci fi nerd-dom this morning, (-8, goes to Cowboy Bebop which was also really fun and the actors all did a terrific job brining the anime characters to life! I super enjoyed this one and totally recommend it! ..and of course the Anime it came from, which is a totally classic and excellent watch.

On a non nerdy side of the internet, we are going to have to postpone the Heb by a couple of weeks. Without to many details, Pooka needed a minor surgery the other day and is scheduled for a bigger one coming up very soon, along with a string of doctor and medical appointments through the rest of this month which is super cutting into our schedule and kind of disrupting our flow. We might still have been able to pull things off on our deadline but these all got pilled up quickly and with a bit of unpredictably added to our schedule it's prob best if we take a bit of extra time to make sure this year turns out awesome instead of stressing and rushing around these appointments. I'll keep everyone updated!

Geeze I hope things work out! We are going through some family things here too but im not going to say much more on that since its not the place for it. RE:star trek--yes. Discovery ended on a semi interesting but underwhelming note. Picard is picking up. Lastnights episode was interesting. What is even more interesting is that season 3 was teased and will bring back some of the original cast. Warf? yesplease.

The situation isn't a serious one, but it's enough to keep interrupting us. Annoyingly it seems like nearly every time I'm getting batches of appointments it seems to be in the spring/early summer... not other times when I'm not as busy, nope, Heb time. >.< Just a note if you're curious... I've mentioned before about my hidradenitis suppurativa condition that needs occasional medical care, it's nothing really bad (but often painful), just something that can require surgical removals to cut off parts of my skin. >.< I just had another one done, and have a bigger area to remove coming up. I'm seeing my doctor about it at the end of the month and being scheduled in for another minor surgery.
Anyhow, sorry for the Heb deadline being pushed back a couple of weeks, but like hubby said, we'd rather do something great and not trying to pull together what we can with the appointments constantly interrupting. ^^; On the up note, I'm excited about this year's theme. I'm pretty pleased with the templates I've made. ^_^
