Oh and another trailer because I can't help myself! I got so excited watching this one, (-8 I don't know if we have many Trekkies around these parts but I thought season one of Discovery was extremely excellent! Critics found it a bit dark, and it was (but I didn't mind, it was a dark plot!), but season two looks like they've lightened things up quite a bit. Also I've been getting Pooka to watch the original series with me and we had just watched part one of The Menagerie when this trailer hit and I think Pooka was excited as I was to see the new captain, (-8 ....sooooo excited!

I am 1000% excited for the second season! I love Pike and from the trailer, he looks impressive. I didn't mind the darker spin of Discovery at all, I enjoy seeing new explorations of Star Trek over the years. I'm actually rewatching Deep Space 9 myself right now, afterward I will need to figure out which series to re-watch. Possibly Next Gen.
I am more than happy to geek out over Star Trek for ours and I am a part of several writing communities dedicated to Trek

...and now a Picard show to go along with the Short Treks! Soooo geekily excited! The last half of DS9 was soooo good Wolfrysk! ... the only series I haven't seen all of is Enterprise but I'm contemplating putting it back on my list for completionist sake when we're done with TOS.

I'm super interested to see how they do the new Picard show! Of course, I did see today that Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine both apparently walked away from the table from the Abrams Star Trek 4 talks, but I can't say I'm too terribly heartbroken over that - disappointed sure, but eh.
Deep Space 9 is probably my favorite series. I will always hold a fondness for Voyager in my heart because that was the series I grew up watching, but being older I can definitely say it wasn't as good comparably as the others. TOS has been a struggle for me to get through and honestly, I don't think I'm really retaining to much of it when I do watch it, but I'm doing my best to get through it. I'll also watch the animated series just to say I've watched everything.
I was definitely on the anti-Enterprise train when it came out (words in the theme music?! blasphemy.) so I didn't watch all of it at the time it was out and what I did watch I didn't enjoy. I went back probably a couple years ago at this point and watched it through and I will say it wasn't AS BAD as I had originally thought it was when I had watched it previously. Definitely ranks last, but it wasn't awful and unwatchable.

I think we're on the same page with the new Trek Movies and there is a George Takei quote that seemed to totally sort out my feelings about them... hummm I can't seem to find the exact one but it went something like "they are great rip roaring action movies, but they are not comparable to the rest of Trek (off course especially the TOS) because they don't push any boundaries or explore any social commentary at all."
Though it seemed like 'space action show' the original series is soooo full of firsts and totally smashed so many Racial, Cultural and Gender stereotypes of the time that it helped set the pace for the world we have now! There might be some slower episodes of course but really I think the TOS is truly important for culture in general! ... of course it still dates itself sometimes (like the gendered uniforms or things like "let me introduce Dr. Smith, Dr. James, Dr. Sulu and the female Doctor, Dr. Janet.) but you can see where it's trying, (-8 ...if you can imagine watching it through the eyes of the viewers when it first came out I think it becomes extra magical!
Now I've been totally enjoying re-watching the TOS myself! ...and I think I'm on the same page with you again on Enterprise... I'm not sure if I gave it a fair chance when it first came out but perhaps nowadays? ...perhaps it's aged well, (-8 I'll give it a shot!

I bought one of these super cool pencil cases at Walmart when we were down south and it is such a cool little RP accessory! linkI picked cuz it looked like it would make a nice dice box and the more I have/use it the more I love it! It keeps tons of dice and pencils, has a nice little pocket and stretchy band to keep things on top in order and a nice latch so dice don't go flying when I drop it. Most importantly its all padded on the inside and has something I'd call 'Dice-feel'. It might be a bit crazy but I like when rolling dice sounds and feels cool. I don't like the sound of dice on my plastic table for example and would rather put down a piece of wood for rolling... ya a bit crazy for some but maybe not everyone? This one sounds and feels great when rolling right in the box! ...also it just looks cool, (-8 and there is a ton of different options and designs! The Vaultz site doesn't seem have all the options (perhaps mine was a walmart exclusive?) but they also make lots of different cool tins, but not all have the cool inner lining so watch for that if that matters to you, (-8 I only paid like $15 for mine at walmart but the prices are literally all over the map online but you can prob find a good deal if you like them, (-8 (I've got another bookmarked for Pooka but I have to go to town in a couple weeks and want to check walmart first!)

I forgot to add... I've often noticed vast price differences in different market places especially being a lifelong geek and having owned my own comic/book store... because this is sold as a 'pencil case' it falls more into a category of something kids need for back to school and just a slightly novel necessity. If you found a pile of these in a comic/rpg store and they were sold as locking dice boxes they would probably carry a price tag closer to $50 instead of $15. ...and I love a good deal! (-8
You can see this kind of effect all the time and as a smart RPG shopper you can find some awesome creative deals by thinking outside of the Red Box. Good examples are misc tins, cool markers/counters and unique character sheets, notebooks and more! One of my favorite things is finding cool miniatures and game pieces from old board games (the kind of games you can pick up for a buck or two at a vintage/used/charity type store) and using them for more appropriate game tokens for rpgs and card games.

I know the Heb from last year is pretty much over with, so I didn't want to post and bump there and make people think something was going on there, so I'll post here. So after getting my cutie kitty Willow last Heb, I caved and made a pair to give me a PI version of her. Well...I finally got her!! She's so cute!! I love her!!

Pitch Meetings! I don't know how I didn't know these were a thing! Virtually every single episode is hilarious! I think we watched every single one (that referenced movies we've seen) in under a week, (-8
