So today was a pretty lucky day for me. Not lucky in the way of 'hey I won the lottery!!!', but just things seemed to go right for me in a way. I got down to work and after a rocky start, things smoothed out. I started out taking orders up front, but then after a little playful banter between two co-workers and our general manager, I got to go into the back window and take orders and payment there! Yes!! So that meant someone else got to get the drinks for the orders!! I barely had any dishes to do and what WAS there, all I had to do was empty the sanitizer water, put those dishes in the drying spots, refill that sink with fresh sanitizer, empty the washing sink, rinse off those dishes, put them in sanitizer, reclean three pans, fill the washing sink, start that again and put those three pans back in to wash properly. Mike got me off register a little after 3, I got the money out I had to drop and dropped it in the safe. I was clocking out by 3:15, changed my pants and shoes and got out of there. Man it felt good!!
Now, the really lucky part, was something this morning told me to take my camera with me. We have a retaining pond like thing back behind work. It's mainly filled with rain water and such and is always full, so there are critters in the water...fish and turtles. Ducks and geese are seen there, as are heron, but the one bird that I was surprised to see...was a kingfisher. A co-worker told me what it was the one day when I pointed it out to him. It's a belted kingfisher, that of which I looked it up to see what kind it was, and it's a male(females are the same color, but also have a band of rusty brown on the front). For the past few days, I've been seeing him on this one tree branch and I make it up to the fence, my phone camera set...and he takes off and sits across the pond and 'laughs'. Yea, it's like 'haha! I'm out of your camera focus!!'. Brat. Like I said, something this morning told me to take my really good camera with me and boy am I ever glad I did. I got to the fence just before it rounds into the corner at the entrance to our parking lots and...he was there...sitting in his tree spot. I got my pack off, got my camera out and set and I'm thinking 'stay put, stay put, stay put' the entire time. Ladies and gents...say hello to my little friend! Spoilered for size.
I then moved around to the other part of the fence where I could get pictures without the branches in the way. Again spoilered for size.
Now I just need to think of a name for him. I had thought about Moriarty because of the mysteriousness of him, but he doesn't seem the evil sort really. Okay, maybe evil the way of he lets me get to the one spot and then flies off laughing XD I had also thought about Jester. I'll figure something out. I'm just REALLY happy that I finally got a picture of him!
