Captain's Log

25th day of Peret Phamenoth

Today The Quest set sail with a small trading fleet from Ahket towards the West. I had to sell my home and nearly everything that I own to purchase this vessel. It's a fine galleon from the Western lands and the previous owner said to be one of the most seaworthy ship types around.

The wind was fair and the seas calm, a great day to start our journey. The ship is manned by many a seaworthy sphinx and netjer who can show the few green sailors the ropes along the way. I have high hopes for my crew. I have made the offerings to Nun and Naunet in hopes that they show kindness to my trading fleet and withhold the chaos of the sea that they often bring forth.

Just over a decade ago trade has finally begun with the countries reaching all the way to Albion. Sometimes it boggles my mind why trade hasn't happened in all of the centuries before that time, but that is diplomacy and philosophy that I don't really care to involve myself in. I am excited for the possible goods that we may be able to return to Ahket and the riches that will come from such trade. We shall be sailing nearly straight to Albion, only picking up nessicary supplies upon the way, to begin loading our hold from the far West and then stopping at many more trade port cities along the way back home to Khemet. Although I don't plan to pass up on time sensitive choice trades if they cross our path.

4th day of Peret Pharmuthi

We have arrived in the city of Phix and the winged sphinxes here seem cold to outsiders save for the traders who warmed up wishing to make some coin. We mostly stocked up on supplies, including some pomegranates to fight off scurvy. Although we don't plan on straying too far from port cities it seems like a nice treat for the crew.

The Quest has made port in the Roman city Ora and we 'did as the Romans do', meaning that we had a great port leave in this majestic city. The offerings to Nun must have went well due to the good weather and fast travel that the fleet has been experiencing.

Captain's Log

17th day of Peret Pharmuthi


Yesterday the ship arrived in Carthage and the city is just as spectacular as the legends say. I was nearly convinced to stay at this port city a bit longer then usual but then a handful of my new sailors broke out into a brawl in one of the local taverns. In apology, as the group of delinquents were dragged out by other crew, I mentioned to the authorities that we would cut our stay short and leave the next dawn. That band of sphinxes are currently in the brig and I shall have the master of punishment deal with them later. To be honest I am rather irate with them.

The band of sphinxes who caused issue in Carthage have been dealt with and I'm sure that their rumps are rather sore now. Their wine rations have been cut as well and I'm sure that they will not cause problems again.

Today we have made port in Valencia and the culture is very different then any I have seen. The colours are flamboyant as are the sphinxes of this land. I'm going to give my crew a port leave for two days so I can enjoy myself here as well.

The band of troublemakers have possibly started again. Word came back to me that one of them ran his mouth off about the deity Nun and how he has nothing to do with the fine sailing we have been having and in fact made some blasphemous remarks that I do not wish to repeat. Just in case I have tossed an offering of gold coins into the sea in hopes that he forgives this tresspass.

The fleet has raised anchor to head towards Albion. At the day broke the weather was pleasant and the wind was in our favor. Yet, by late afternoon the wind grew to an alarming rate and the seas quickly began to churn. I wish to blame the sailors that cursed Nun's name but perhaps this foul weather will lift. I have tossed even more gold coins into the sea in hopes that it will appease Nun and he won't bring disaster upon us.

...also it's HOT here today? Like blizzard last week, 15 degrees here with the snow disappearing fast. It's kind of delightful, (-8 ...and maybe super Canadian? We've got the windows wide open but you can still see the piles of snow right outside them...

Even our roads are starting to flatten out... idk if that's a thing where some of you live? The earth freezes pretty dramatically up here and it literally buckles many of our roads (like foot deep dips and rises... like moguls on a ski hill).

and super off topic, we saw two fun things the last couple of days and I'd recommend both! The second Shazam movie was pretty fun and we both enjoyed it... idk what's wrong with some critics... Also, for some reason poorly reviewed, was the first couple of episodes of Grease; Rise of the Pink Ladies. I really liked this one and thought the music was pretty good, plot fun and characters interesting and ... what's the word?... I want to root for them!

and one quick extra... back during our Anime Event we stumbled on a manga with a Sukeban main character called Rokudou no Onna-tachi (or Rokudo's Bad Girls in english) which Pooka and I got a bit addicted to, well it became popular enough to get an anime treatment and the first episode was a strait up perfect translation of the manga, (-8 idk if this is everyone's kind of anime (basic classic harem setup) but I do like the characters and really can't resist a cool Sukeban character, (-8

3rd day of Peret Pharmuthi

The weather, and Nun's displeasure, has not abated. The fleet has been tossing around at sea for two days and no matter how hard we have tried to keep within sight of land the storms have thrown us off course. We have lost sight of the ships Mallard and Renown and I pray that they have not gone under the waves.

Nun's anger seems to have stilled. The harsh wind and waves have calmed, but the sky remains overcast and makes it nigh impossible for our navigator to determine where we are.I pray to Shu for better skies so we can orient ourselves back towards land.

We have been trying in vain to sail back East, but the wind has died and we are at the whims of the sea. The waves carry us farther and farther towards the West. This was to be a simple trading mission along the coastline so we were not stocked up for such a long time away from port. I am praying that we can find our bearings when the wind picks back up and we are not too far from  drinkable water.

Calamity! Last night we were besieged by a sea serpent! The fleet was valiant and we fought to our fullest. Sadly the ship Goodwill was lost but we were able to rescue most of it's crew and take them aboard my ownvessel. Although I am thankful for the small number of casualties, and mourn the dead,  I fret about how long our supplies will now last.

Over the last few days the wind has finally picked up from the East but now we are too far out to sea to attempt a return with what water and rations still remain. Our only hope is to continue towards the West and hope for an island or land that has fresh water and food. I fear the legends about the edge of the world and what may happen if we travel too far.

Im melting here. Im running off of fans, as isnt up yet. Im greateful for the warm wearther but mother nature, can it please be gradual?

We are supposed to plummit into single digits (^C) next week but still be on the positive side.

The pookas....might be on the northern side of the snow band though. Maybe. Donno yet.


Oh, also im a crazy MA right now. I have to prepare for a show on the 23rd and I feel like i dont have enough time to do it o.@

Having some insight on the Captains log, I know the voice I read it in, (-8 ... but I can easily hear either of those captains narrating! (-8 (extra side note, I wasn't really enjoying the current Picard show and almost gave up on it, but checked out the third season and it's actually been really fun! It's honestly more STTNG season 8 (and a bit of DS9 season 8) than Picard season 3. If anyone else isn't interested in the first two seasons I think you can skip them and head right to the third and totally know what's going on, (-8 ...if Strange New Worlds keeps it's pace I think Pike will be a contender for the same legendary captain category as well, (-8 ...darn, I'm over-nerdding... (does nerdding have one d or two? spellcheck isn't down with my lingo...)

It was just under two weeks ago-ish we had three feet of snow (past the jeeps windows deep) but today is in the 20s!! idk about going from long undies and parkas to tee shirts in a week... simply wild stuff. We don't really need fans or air just yet though, even the hottest breeze turns a bit frigid blowing over the ice and snow banks out the window... though they're not gonna last with this heat. (I also feel it's gonna be an early fish year for smelts and my non-Sphinx project has been fixing up my dip nets... net weaving is my newest skill learning project... then on to Macramé, (-8 I need some more 70s art skills!)

I'm a bit behind in my usual early 'previews' (and I do love a good mislead, (-8) but I'll toss out a fun hint that is probably totally not a hint but also is it really?

To work on this years theme we've spent a lot of time rocking out to a particular 70s band... if anyone can guess the band I'm talking about, I'll PM you a full preview of one of our upcoming NPCs which will be a totally spoiler, (-8 I won't comment in the thread if anyone gets it, so no one will know the correct answer so you can guess the same band as someone else if ya wanna, (-8
