*is ejected from aom's hair in the roll*
No I was relaxing now that I'm free. XD Morning all this is the first day of my semi-holiday and I'm so relaxed atm. I had this whole week booked off BUT I have a work training course slap bang in the middle of it. It's funny cause this is the third course that fell in my booked holidays. (This is just pure dumb luck not someone being malicious and I do get my holiday hours back) So relaxing today, painting tomorrow, Cimina Monday morning then packing and travelling the afternoon, Tuesday-Wednesday training then thursday-saturday relaxing XD again.

Just peeking in for a bit. Mr. Pooka, I'm glad you were able to take a day off and enjoy nature I recently learned that the loons make a very specific noise that is used to create atmosphere in almost all movies! How neat, I really wish I could hear one in real life ^^ I'm going to finish up my book and start a new book (of course)! Currently almost done with Sweep of the Heart by Ilona Andrews in which our main characters host a multigalactic dating show to find the Prince of the Dominion's Prince's future spouse (humanoid not a requirement, lol). Just got past the first trial where they debate on topics of universe, hosted by the very wise First Scholar space chicken called the Koo Ko xD It sounds kooky, but a great read by the same authors of the Kate Daniel series Maybe sit by the pool, go get some ice cream, and watch the new Spider Man movie?? O:

I got a bit side tracked yesterday by some weird weather a quick trip to the store that wasn't! *starts catching up*
It's fairly hot and humid here MA, but not really that bad... but you were right on about the blackflies! When I was out I stopped at three different spots, one was full of mosquitoes (lol, you can hear them in the short video I shared, (-8) but the bass were biting so they were more tolerable. The second spot I was covered in blackflies but the brook trout were biting so they were tolerable. The last spot only had a very few bugs but the fish weren't biting so a few was to many, (-8
Enjoy your week off Minkey!
Loons are fairly common up here Sio and we hear and see them often and they really are quite... atmospheric in their call. When I first got out there it was still early in the morning and the lake I was at was still swirling with mist while the frogs were singing, somewhere a woodpecker was really going at a tree and the loon was calling... add the scent of the new spring forest and the breeze from the water and you can't beat that kind of perfect combination of nature and wonder. That's around when I headed back to where I parked to grab my camera so I could record some of the sounds, but of course by the time I got back the loon was all done calling, (-8
Some sounds of the wild are just... incredible and almost indescribable. I mean you can listen to the sound bites or watch a video but being there is a million times different. A few years ago I was in the bush very very early, and as the sun was just coming up there was the strangest and most haunting noise that I couldn't even place... I had no idea what was coming! Eventually I spotted them... it was a flock of very high flying whooping cranes! The fall mists, high up on a ridge in the cold hills and that they were so high up all just created this kind of echo and sounding chamber between the hills that made a sound that was haunting and amazing and wonderful!
The one creature I really want to hear in the wild is an Elk! I find their bugling super haunting and unique! Technically we have some around here from a reintroduction release but sometimes science and common sense don't meet up until after the fact and all the elk ran an hour south and live on the fringes of a bunch of farms, where they are protected and farmers hate them, lol.
...and that book sounds delightful! (-8 I love a good wacky but thought provoking (or at least fun) read! ...it sounds kind of reminiscent of Terry Pratchett books, like that could be strait out of a Disc World novel, (-8 I'll have to check it out! I've been reading... >.> uhm, the early Sarah Hawke books. Super interestingly she began writing fairly naughty stories but her background setting continued to grow and eventually grew into a very satisfying fantasy setting! (which really is just a slightly reskinned Forgotten Realms, but still fun!) I've also got a few more Doc Savage Books I need to read, (-8

WELP! Took the pups out as per usual and heard scratching. I turn to see this little guy climbing the fence from our neighbour into ours: I tried to keep my cool as I corraled the pups to go inside. Thats the first time ive seen a coon in the backyard. And it was in the day. Im just glad there were no interactions resulting in a trip to the vet o.0
