Have fun Angel and that's a sweet looking display MA, (-8
*slowly works through inbox...*
...and yikes we're totally blanketed in wildfire smoke today! We've been super lucky so far with most of it blowing right past us but the winds have changed... You can see it rolling by just outside the windows and even with everything all sealed up here it's still pretty thick, almost like fog.
...and extra off topic we started Spy x Family and with just few episodes I'd totally recommend it and also understand why you can't see a cosplay convention without a Yor Forager, (-8

It was hailing here earlier. We just had a really nasty storm blow through for half an hour or so. It was sunny twenty minutes later, but nasty weather is supposed to return tonight. Looking at the possibility of tornadoes, so won't be able to sleep much in case we need to seek shelter. Do tornadoes happen in Canada or just horrific blizzards and wildfires?

Our weather warnings suggest N95 masks if you've got to be outside for any length of time MA, so it's pretty bad I figure... even sealed inside it smells like we've been sitting around a campfire.
and hail, yikes! fun weather for everyone Operetta! Canada in general does get all the weather but Southern Ontario and the Prairies are more likely to see tornadoes. We can get some wicked and nasty wind storms... I mean I've seen parts of forests leveled and powerlines get ripped out (or taken out by trees... remember we live in a forest so all our power comes from powerlines that must travel through miles and miles of forest!) but luckily it's hard for tornadoes to form up where we are because of all of the irregular rocky hills. ...not much room for the wind to get the kind of strait-away it needs to work itself into a tornado, and even if it did they break up fast in the hills. We have had warnings in the past but it would be super rare, at least in these parts.
In Jasper and Banff they did just get a foot of snow a few days ago when we were here in the 30s C. Which reminds me of one of our roadtrips camped up there, actually around this time of year. We were camped in the mountains and it was a fairly nice cool summer day when in the middle of the day it just started to snow lightly. Super surreal but also very cool, especially watching the snow sizzle in the firepit. (-8 the mountains are fun!

Just got a severe thunderstorm warning for this evening.
Atleast the rain will help with the plants!
And Retta, yes we do! It's gotten worse over the last 25 years. From f0 or F1,to there was an f3/4 that ripped through a few hours north last year.
We get plenty of crazy weather clouds, just not all of them turn into funnels

I can't even imagine snow in June... We were dealing with heat indexes of 102F (38.8C) today, which probably explains the gross weather.

*face plants into the nearest cushion* Oooooouuuuugh...today was awesome, but it was humid, which made it sticky and warm, but I survived. I have pictures, I will share them tomorrow. I got to throw six bottles at The Wreck Room and I wrote the word 'cancer' on each bottle. I got to throw three beer bottles and three good size wine bottles. With the last bottle I threw. I held it, looked up to the sky and said 'this one's for you mom', drew back and THREW! I didn't care if I hit the target or not, I was hitting the wall and the bottles were shattering. After that last one hit, I put my elbows on the counter and put my head in my hands and started to cry. The woman was like 'that was awesome!!' and I said 'you...have no idea. I...lost my mom last month to cancer and this has been pent up for a while. This...felt so good' and she fully understood and said 'You looked like you needed it, I'm glad this helped. You're a strong girl, I'm sure she's proud'. So after I shed a few more tears and got hugs from Cheryleen and Dad, we wandered up and around, found a spot for Albannach...then in the shade, me right up at the stage to dance and after that, we wandered, got food, then went for the archery. I made it in time to sign up for the patrons competition. I signed up and of all things...first group, first one called...me XD First arrow didn't stay put and counted as a miss. Second arrow went a foot and dropped. Third arrow...I hit a 7. Good enough. There weren't that many that entered, so it went quickly. I wound up getting the YBA award...the You Blew it Award XD So I got a nice little pocket knife. Yay me XD It was fun regardless. We then walked around and just enjoyed. We caught the last set for a group called Syr. Celtic Folk. They were good and...they have a song called Eulalia and it's Redwall based!! I knew it as soon as I heard it!! I got the cd that has the song on it AND I am going to get the shirt with that design. They had none left except the display one and...I am so in love with it!! I got to talk to the writer of the song and said that I loved the books too and...yea...we had a nerd moment XD It was awesome.
We then took our leave and came home and Dad managed to get Tank(the Envoy) to wake up!! He jumped it and it came to life!!! Dad took it out for a nice run to get the battery to charge enough and Saturday when he comes to pick me up, we're going to take it up and get gas in it, then bring it back and head for the concert. For now, it's good. While dad was out with it, Cheryleen and I got the camper up just enough that I could get in and get stuff out of it...like my sleeping bag that I've had since 1993 or so and some other things. I am not on the couch and relaxed.

Man what a day! Yearly specialist appointment, the minute we get out of the car the sky opens up and its like the ocean pouring down. Even with an umbrella (that I shared with dad) I got soaked (its like a 10 minute walk to the building).
Its been like that on and off all morning.
I just hope the areas that are on fire are getting some of this rain.

*plays catch-up*
We had a couple brief but heavy downpours but not nearly enough... we could use a ton more rain here, it's still ridiculously dry and kind of on fire! We're currently in a hot/humid/smoke area making things a bit rough atm but we're managing, (-8 We can't open the windows because of the smoke... So, fans and ice bottles are doing the job atm. A few days ago when it was super hot I jury rigged a helpful setup which I may have to do again! We currently have one of those indoor air conditioners which has a tube (like from a dryer) that you are supposed to vent through a window. Being we can't open the windows (they do not seal well enough to keep the smoke out) I clamped the exhaust tube to the Stovetop vent and that worked fairly well to take the hot air away and cool things off, (-8

Yikes it's apocalyptic looking out there! I needed to pick something up for Pooka and the smoke is thick... you can't even see the firetower hill from downtown (where I was taking pics a couple weeks back.) I think I may head up there again and take some comparison pictures...
also a bear ran past me in the grocery store parking lot, just to add a touch of surreal to the apocalypse trip (and act as a reminder I didn't bring my camera). It was about 20 feet from me and just a year old lanky young one, but nothing wakes you up like seeing a bear running in your general vicinity, (-8

Wow... a bear... in the parking lot... so crazy. Also, the smoke sounds awful. I hope you get some really good rain soon.

The winds blowing it back here, stay safe! I wish I could have dumped yesterday's rain on that fire.
That poor bear was probably very confused!

We are just on the fringe of the wildfire smoke... just a tiny shift in direction and we're mostly smoke clear today compared to yesterdays fog like conditions which is nice for us.
...and bears are just a thing that happen up here, (-8 Especially young ones like I saw yesterday... Could have been any combination of confused, lost or just exploring in the middle of the afternoon. Most grocery/food stores use locking trash bins to keep the bears and ravens out but the smell can still draw them, again, especially young ones who don't know any better yet. It's much more common to see them after dark though when there's less people and cars. Mind you it is like the 4rth or 5th bear I've seen in that part of town over the years... The Grocery store is close to the edge of town with a treed ski hill right behind it and a green walking trail on the other side of the road (where I've seen bears happily walking just behind the tree line enjoying the trail, (-8)
