Hope it hasn't been too bad over there and she hasn't been too bad. I still need to get names in for the last of my bunch XD I've been so fried from work and the issues we recently had there, dealing with the battery in mom's car dying and having to wait for dad to be able to jump it. It's now alive, but every couple of days I have to go out and turn it on to let it run and such. It's also been really hot here and if it hasn't been the temperature itself, it's been the humidity. I'm TRYING not to put the ac unit in the window and run up the electric bill, but...blarg...heat and humidity. Fan has been helping a little, but I might look into bringing the one box fan down and using that too...maybe

I like the AC, yes it's comfortable, but since it's just me in the house, I don't really see a need for it and run up the AC. If I absolutely need to, I can put the box fan on or I can bring my fan out from my room, plug it in and use that for the time I'm in the living room. So far I've been good with not having to do that. Plus the AC unit we have is in need of a really good cleaning and I don't know to do that. The filter I can do, but like the back area that hangs out the window? Yea I don't want to take it apart and mess it up and i don't want to pay to have someone do it. So for now, I'll fight through the summer and will welcome the apartment come September.

Its a hot one today! The start of a heat warning and a humidex of over 30^C
Theres soo much to be done but anything outside will have to wait. I need to get some hostas removed and stuff re positioned to make way fro some of hubbys grandmas plants.
And bugs. its been made aware to me that I might actually be allergic to bug bites. like, more so then the average person. I got bitten alive on Canada day digging up plants from hubbys grandmas back and I have way too many to count ^^'
Ticks and black flies are up too.
And then hubby needs to take aparent and clean a tower fan...cause its not working properly.
ANYWAY to our friends down south, happy 4th of July <3

*crashes* Okay, my mom went home yesterday. It was actually a pretty nice visit. ^_^ Only 3 coolers from the drinking game. Although, she never stopped talking. I mean NEVER! If you even tried to speak she would talk over you more loudly. I would even check the clock and once she literally went on for about 3 hours without either of us getting a word in. Even when focusing to drive through crazy heavy traffic she kept talking and yelling while Mr. Pooka was trying hard to focus on the road. It was both funny and a test of patience. All and all though, it was pleasant. ^_^ Only one insult, only once did she talk about how she was going to lie about something, and an extra 3rd cooler due to the talking. lol BUT, since she's turning 80 next month and getting on in age this may possibly be the last time I see her, so I spent the time trying to seriously take it all in and appreciate her. ^_^ I'm happy that she came to visit. ^_^ Now I just have to try and finish up my Draw Everything June challenge before the deadline in a week (I have 4 pictures to complete, and two are doozies), then I'll get started on custom poses for the team and a trade.  (Every year for their help I give each team member a CP.) |

I know that feeling, MA! Though, in my case, my package arrived, but I was distracted by other things and forgot about it. So, it's just been sitting on my porch for a day and half now...
I'm glad that the visit went better than you expected, Pooka!

Glad everything went well Pooka!! Wow, 80 years old?! That's great!!
Good news on my side. The woman I had been working with for location with the celebration of life/birthday bash for my mom...let me know that we got the pavilion we wanted to hold it at!!! YES!!! So happy!!! She was able to reserve the pavilion we were looking at at the one park where mom would do some stand bys. It's a nice little park and it's perfect! I just need to know how long we have the pavilion for so that I can get the flyer put together. I've already got an idea for it. Dad on the other hand is going to work on a sort of aerial map so people know what to look for and as to it's location. Yes I have an address for it and I can say 'you'll be looking for a sign that says 'Hickory Park Restaurant' and you're there, just turn in and head for the back', but dad wants to add in his own help, which is fine. So now with that, I can get the word spread for it! We're holding it on September 30th, which would have been mom's 66th birthday. So it's going to be a 'come and celebrate her on her birthday, bring your best stories of her and lets just have fun'. I don't know how many people are coming, but I'm sure we'll have a good turn out. I am going to make mention that 'at this *insert time here* time, we'll be holding a candlelit vigil for her'. It'll be nice.
Also on good news, Sunday July 16th I'll be going to the Alaskan Malamute club's agility trial. Lori, the woman who has been friends with mom and I for a little over 10 years now and had been helping take me to see mom when she was in the hospital, had put in her entry for the trial and she let me know. Another friend of ours had made up a poster to honor mom and sent it to Lori, who went to Staples and printed it out. She said she was going to contact two people to see which one of them she could mail it to and see if they could put it up at the trial for the four days of the trial, then asked if I wanted to go that Sunday. I was like 'oh heck yes please and thank you!!'. So she's going to pick me up and I'm going to the agility trial. I am packing a pack of tissues because I know I'm going to need them. I'm looking forward to going, I haven't been to an agility competition in years. No i'm not running, but if I can help out in a class or two, I will.

I started to play around with my new shiny (a photobox with built in led lights). How do you think these pictures turned out? Im planning on posting to Instagram but would like to share here first. Hopefully as I use it more ill beable to take better pictures. The glass-coaster was a -bit- of a you know what. It fit the box but because its just under max height, the tabs for in the backto hold the cloth in place were showing and I am still not sure the blur in those areas is ok >< Anyway, please let me know <3 |

*shakes off MIL visit mode and catches up with everyone's goings-on...*
Nothing much new here that Pooka didn't cover, (-8 Totally needed the AC for a few days (as we endured some cool Florida fall weather) but it's back to some normal nice summer days now.
All of the nearby wildfires are still burning but are now 'under control' which is a relief... when we were driving Pooka's mom around I did get to see a whole convoy of Fire Rescue vehicles fueling up in a little town called Espanola which was kind of neat! (though not near us, over 50 more wildfires started in our province over this week alone... insane new records are being set every day...)
...and we rewatched Schmigadoon during our visit and I really can't get some of the most fun and inappropriate songs out of my head, lol... It's a delightful series that I super highly recommend!
Now to figure out where to do some catching up....
