I don't normally do the Christmas/Yule stuff until after Thanksgiving. BUT last year I didn't even decorate for Yule/Christmas. SO.... I'm feeling the ITCH super bad. I ... also found more of my 'terrible' elves to add to my 'village' that pop up for Christmas holidays....
The temptation is REAL. And it's getting more difficult to NOT just pull out all my Christmas-y decor and go to town on my house. <,<

I like to decorate our living room... we currently have our fall set up, with pretty fall leaf garlands and a halloween themed table cloth. I did just switch out the orange witchy battery operated candles out for sparkly fairy ones, but they fit both fall and winter... Now I don't have a formula for replacing this set up with our Yule one, but usually I wait till fall feels over? ...which it does here now! A few storms took any remain fall vibes away, the salmon are done and I've been snowed on twice... but it feels a bit early for Yule decorations? ..ah well, I think I'll give into the Yule vibes early because I don't have any good transition decorations between the two, (-8 I guess down south you all have Thanksgiving... but we've already had ours and it feels like that's passed for us! ...and super off topic, while I'm rambling, (-8 We had to go out of town for a doctor thing near Thanksgiving and I got to stop in at a Dollar Tree. I guess that's not too exciting for Americans cuz I hear they are everywhere, but they are very rare up here and only near the boarder (we were in the Soo, Canada side). We've got other dollar stores, but they are not all the same! ...where was I... Dollar Tree! I picked up a few cute owl decorations for our tree, but they also had these super delightful Pumpkin and Vine dishes which I picked up and super love... and will use all year round, (-8 and some super cute sunflower bowls as well...
I can't seem to recall your 'terrible' elves Toxi? I am intrigued! (In my imagination though, now I'm picturing a classic North Pole village set up, but sneaking in all my Drow Miniatures hiding around corners and peeking out from windows, (-8 That sounds super fun, (-8

This year they've had these adorable faux book boxes in varied sizes. They had a set for Halloween (I grabbed a bunch and did some local gifting.) and I see online they have the ones for the Christmas stuff. So I might venture out this weekend and see if my local shops have them in. ^^ As for the 'terrible elves'. You asked.. XD So first two images are from 2 years ago when I'd been decorating for the holidays. It was the year we had my in=laws out and my mom, sister, and twins all at once. It... was chaos but was fun. (Was also Beau's last Christmas with me.) This other one is a snapshot from Amazon of a similar elf but much more pricey. >.> Mine are from Hobby Lobby and my hoard only grows when there are 50% or more sales for them. XD (Even as I'm typing this Paul is looking over and shouting, "NO MORE ELVES" XD *cackles evilly*) SO... I love these guys cause I think they're adorable and they remind me of the elves from the Droomvlucht (Dream Flight); my favorite attraction/ride in that park. He hates them. AND his mother hated them. Until I told her the story of why I loved them. Now she has her own collection at home. XD And thus.. the terrible elves that I love so very much and why it brings me glee to torment my husband with them. hehehehehe

Ha, awesome! (-8 Mixing love and torture... oh, that's sending me right back to drow thoughts, (-8
Those are great Toxi, thanks for sharing! ...I always find it interesting when something changes a perception... like how you love these guys because of the memories! ...like when you don't pay attention to a song for years, but suddenly the lyrics make you think of something or a character and then suddenly it's a whole new song and you can't get enough of it!
I LOVE the Dollar Tree, (-8 I usually only get there once year if I'm lucky (though we've got another follow up in December so Twice in one Year, yay!) ... ooo, I also got this AWESOME witchy hand towel last time... would have bought more but they only had one!
We have a Dollar Store (the brand name here) and it's def good, but you've got to hunt for some of the really good stuff. In their very first wave of the Halloween season I got these amazing Skull Glasses made with some kind of colour/shimmer right in the glass... they are so very cool! I also picked up a skull jar to fill up with dice! All the cool skull stuff was sold out and gone in a few days... you've really gotta pay attention for the best things! On my last trip I got these cool plastic storage jars covered in deer that will have permanent spots in my kitchen, (-8 One will be for tea bags and idk about the other yet, but it was to nice not to buy, (-8
My dollar store notebook collection is also fairly vast, (-8
We almost need a thread for dollar store trophy show offs, (-8
Now I'm gonna watch the Youtube virtual ride of Dreamflight!

I love that ride! Absolutely my cup of fairy tea, (-8
The style also kind of reminds me of Dark Crystal and Labyrinth...

Exactly! I love that ride so much. It was Paul's favorite too. Though he doesn't like the elves any better. XD
And yessss. The finds at the Dollar stores are always like that. But so is the thrift shops too.
I was contemplating checking out some local ones for some fancy frames.

While working on customs we had a London Walk video on, checking out the new holiday lights. There was the Gym right downtown and it was all decorated in super buff Elf on a Shelf toys which was both weird and funny and surreal! (-8 Tis the season of unconventional elves! (-8 I've also been stuck on one of my classic favorite songs, but I realized it has some very cool astronomy science baked right in for tierasa! Idk if it'll help with your homework... *sips tea and gets back to dealing with the drow...*

Speaking of astronomy, I've been listening to Rasa study the subject for three months now in school, and it has brought to my attention a lycanthropic question, which seems appropriate given the fact that we just left Lamoria.
Given the astronomical fact that there are times in the year when the moon rises and sets with the sun, are lycanthropes just free from their curse that month since the moon is not visible in the sky at night at all, or do they transform during the day?
These are the questions in life that need answering... XD

Werewolves and Astronomy! ...that's a big question, (-8 Different fictions and mythologies go many different ways... here's some thoughts...
Could be the physical pull or gravitational dance between the earth and the moon, like how it affects the tides...
Could be a curse that is similar to the above or is more metaphysical and it's by sight alone, like a vampire recoiling from a cross... (though this also leads to some Looney Tunes style scenarios of turning back and forth every time a cloud covers the moon.) (bracket number two, the moon is often associated with silver hence the double werewolf weakness leaning more into magical/spiritual curses...)
In a famous song about werewolf mythology, a werewolf is seen with a Chinese menu in his hand Walking through the streets of SoHo in the rain. We can assume that it's cloudy, because of the rain and the werewolf couldn't see the moon... interesting!
In the White Wolf RPGs, werewolves are more affected by the moon phases they were born under, with the extra note that warrior types are born under a full moon fulfilling some of the mythology or wild full moon rampages. This variety is more of a genetic werewolf, though still with spiritual ties...
...and this all leads into so many more questions!
- should a werewolf go out in the day when you can see the moon?
- would a blind werewolf know when the moon was full?
- could a werewolf be an astronaut! ...and is it only our solar systems moon? what if they were subjected to the interplay of all the moons on a planet like Saturn!?
- could a werewolf fly on a highspeed plane around the earth in a synchronous orbit with the moon, either to avoid turning into a werewolf, or permanently stay a werewolf!?
- what about werewolves at either extreme pole? (there's some vampire fiction on this one already... see 30 Days of Night.)
- if a werewolf is extremely careful about avoiding full moons does it become an aware-wolf?

Here's a random thing... has anyone heard of or is interested in the Sardine Challenge/fast? I'm going to be giving it a go in the very near future and I wondered it anyone was interested in doing the same thing, (-8 ...if so, I'll prob move the conversation to another thread to talk about it and figure out some details....
a bit random of course, but that's my modus operandi!

Oooh, I had to look that up and I'm pretty curious about it now. I guess it's pretty appropriate, seeing how I really got into not just sardines in the last year but also sardine tin art, lol xD I do feel like this is probably carnivore diet adjacent (somewhat) but just time boxed. When are you going to try it out, Mr. Pooka? I would definitely love to hear your experience and any results you get from it!
The boyfriend and I have been buried underneath plans for the upcoming Pax Unplugged board game convention. We'll certainly be tying some of gaming time to also enjoying some of the holiday themed events (another way of just saying finding ways to eat yummy food and sweets!) around Philly, PA. It'll be pretty exciting ^^

I've also been watching all the videos on the topic, (-8 I started with a youtuber who I check out fairly regular who goes by Ketogenic Woman, and now I'm deep in the original Doctor Boz videos on the topic... The health benefits seem sound and consistent and at the worst I think it'll be fun to try! ...I'll be starting in the very near future, prob within a few days and will try the basic three day version to see how it goes. I'll be very happy to share what comes of it! (-8
Now, sardine tin art? ...I've never heard of this! My turn to google! (-8
...and a boardgame convention sounds so fun and extra festive this time of year... I've been drooling over the holiday shops around the world myself and am currently a bit obsessed with the festive treats at Harrods in London, (-8

*finishes second cup of English Breakfast tea and gets back to very fun semis!*
...also random question of the day... am I the only person on the planet who hasn't read A Court of Thorns and Roses?
*loads audio book into plex player...*
I keep pondering some sort of Sphinxes book club...

LOL. No, you aren't. I haven't read it either, but Rasa has. So, I know the plot, regardless. XD
