2024... every new year sounds more and more futuristic nowadays, (-8
Everything is looking up to be an exciting year for Sphinxes! With Yule all wrapped up with a bow, We'll be continuing with some dark elven adventures soon and I've already got some expansions in the works for that one and next up after that is a something really fun from Pooka that I can predict with 100% accuracy will be much loved and very entertaining, (-8 There are a bunch of projects brewing on this end and it should keep everyone very Sphinx busy in 2024! ...there are so many things we want to work on that we're contemplating scaling back the Heb~Bastet a bit as an experiment to see if we can fit even more events into the year, but we'll have to see. I think we've got a few surprises on the horizon that you all are gonna love, (-8
------------------
Outside of Sphinxes we've got a bunch of personal RPs we're very much enjoying or are ready to start! I feel that often our roleplaying organically seeps into our Sphinx plans and helps breath some life into them... I also picked up a bunch of games for Pooka and I'm sure she'll have some fun in Hyrule and Hogwarts as well as a few new places to explore, (-8
I didn't really make any top ten lists for 2023... the whole year went flying by in a bit of a blur and was filled with sidetracking adventures for us. Most of my recommendations are fairly mainstream so you don't need me to tell you about them, (-8 but here's a couple of things that kept me entertained that may have fallen outside of the usual channels.
Blue Eyed Samurai - Hardly any advertising and barely mentioned, this one was just quietly shifted into Netflix with little fanfare but it deserves soooo much more. There were a lot of great shows in 2023 (One Piece, Gen V, Mrs. Davis as well as good seasons of already great shows like Star Trek Strange New Worlds and Tokyo Revengers) but Blue Eyed Samurai is one of the best and I can't sing it's praises enough. While very violent, if that's not your thing, it is absolutely a MUST WATCH piece of tv history with gorgeous visuals and a truly epic story.
Ah, well that's one thing, not a couple... I'm going to have to think back on 2023 a bit more as we sail into 2024!

I've been eating a lot of soup as well. Our house seems to keep a permanent chill, so toasty soup makes me happy! When I first ready your post I saw chili, not chill, which sent me back to google, lol. It wasn't until a Sphinx thread, last year I think, that I ever thought of chili as being a soup or stew, (-8 I still don't think I can bring myself to fit it into either of those categories, lol, but I'd also never say no to chili. So, my misread now has me planning to make chili in the near future, though I don't think I'll call it a soup out of stubbornness, (-8

Blue Eyed Samurai is SO GOOD. I loved it. I'm a sucker for a mean blue eyed character on a revenge plot hehe (there's a lot of lines in the show that make me think of my OC, Tabbris lol!)
It was beautiful, the story was fun, the characters are great and the voice cast was perfect! I'll have to go drop some memes in the good stuff thread that were just perfect. XD
Edit: Also as a nonbinary person I just really love how they handled Mizu's gender in the show, there's so many reasons I love it but I'm also glad we get a season 2!!
Also agreed that One Piece's live action show was very fun and very good, it was quite well done! I love the actor that played Luffy, he's also really good in The Imperfects!
Also more 2023 shows worth mentioning on our end:
- Fall of the House of Usher - Our Flag Means Death (season 2) - Good Omens (season 2) - Castlevania: Nocturne - Lockwood & Co. (sadly canceled but still good and fun) - Wolfpack (campy and also fun if you like werewolves) - The Last of Us (I know we talked about this one and that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but we just rewatched it because it's such a fantastic game-to-TV show) - Pokemon Concierge

I really loved Blue Eyed Samurai as well. The characters were just amazing and well done. ^_^ I think the first season of Good Omens was better then the 2nd and it still paled in comparison to the novel. BUT, I was so very happy something happened that I wished would since I read the novel over 30 years ago. Yay! (Sorta 'yay', then sad.) My faves were mostly anime: Demon Slayer, Pokemon Horizons, Tokyo Revengers and Spy x Family. Also, I'm quiet lately because I'm very busy in the background working hard on the next event. Don't forget guys, I'm aiming to run it near the end of February.

...and here's my soup, 3 days in the making, (-8 Pooka's got ramen on the left with shirataki noodles and more strait forward Japanese broth while mine's a much thicker umami soup/stew filled with tons of low carb veggies, pork and grouse (-8 ...and I've got a giant pot for me so I'll be eating it for a week I think, yum!

*nestles into thread* The soup looks great, I'm tempted to make some myself ^^ My current watch list is Delicious in Dungeon, Fluffy Paradise & Solo Leveling first 2 are out now Solo is later in the year <3 I love Solo's manga so i cant wait till it comes out. I'm just praying its not as bad as Tales of Demons and Gods. Love the ongoing manga but the anime looked horrid.

Had leftover chicken and rice soup tonight. The weather is gross outside, so it was nice to have something toasty and tasty. XD

I do agree that the first season of Good Omens was better but I did enjoy a lot of the character interactions/development of season two. ^__^ Mmmmm, those soups look good Mr. Pooka! I think if you like shirataki noodles, you guys might also like sweet potato/glass noodles! I use those more in a stir fry. Delicious in Dungeon is on our watch list, too. I wanted to share more soup photos because hey, it's soup season. XD First up is from a few nights ago. Chicken meatball soup (chicken meatballs w/ swiss chard, carrots, celery and orzo pasta) with homemade bread with roasted garlic. I don't make bread often so I was pretty happy with the texture of it! And then tonight was some Zuppa Toscana (Spicy Italian sausage and bacon with potatoes and spinach in a chicken and cream broth)! It's a copycat recipe from Olive Garden's soup. It's arguably better than the restaurant soup lol! Still working on that garlic bread. (also technically the actual soup uses kale but I don't like kale so I use spinach)

That looks super tasty... Can you share the recipe? If we left the spinach out, Rasa might eat it... XD I wonder if you could add tomatoes... She likes those as far as veggies go... or fruits that masquerade as veggies...

Tomatoes would fit in that perfectly I would think! I will go pop it into the recipe thread for ya. ^^

I need to get my stuff together and try and fight my way into the dark elves place! @-@ I'm so behind aaaaah. Does anyone have any goals for 2024? I did a lot of bird and insect photography in 2023 and I'm definitely hoping to step my game up there! I had a family member I hadn't seen in person in years reach out wanting to meet up with me, and it ended up being that she had a little money for me from her mother passing last year that she'd divided up between all of the kids/grandkids. It was a nice albeit mildly awkward visit! But I decided to get a new camera lens with the money. ^^ Previously my longest zoom lens was 300mm but I got one that goes to 600mm and I'm so so hyped to work on more bird photography with it this year! Also just want to grow my photography business in general. ;w; Some of my favorite bird images from 2023: I've said this every year for a couple years now but I'd love to get back into reading, I miss it so much. I'm loving all the delicious looking soups! <3

Thank you for the recipe!
Those are amazingly beautiful pictures! What is the first bird? I don't know that I've ever seen anything like that around here.

Ooh, we started Delicious in Dungeon a few nights ago and so far it's really fun. I'm curious how some of the youtube channels will start recreating anime dishes... so I'm staying tuned for that xD Scarlet Ibis! So pretty I love your photography Arcane, and it always blows me away that you're not on a wildlife expedition somewhere lol. We don't have many plans this year, but mostly just trying to get through work and survive another year without injury, hah. Back in July I had a riding accident and severe ankle sprain/roll, so it's been a path PT and healing. ^^; We do however, have a trip planned next week to visit New Zealand. I've been saving up for that for the last year and very much looking forward to see the same vistas that the Elves, Hobbits, and shadowy vampires get to see! I also purchased my first little 35mm film camera to take on this trip, so we'll see if I can take any cool looking photos

*dodges inside from the icky blizzard, sips tea and warms up...*
Delicious in Dungeon and Solo Leveling are on my watch list, (along with about 20 other anime... flashes back to my new year's promise of reading more, (-8) but I hadn't heard about Fluffy Paradise but that looks adorable and is now on the list, (-8
I can almost guarantee I would love them, (-8... but the shirataki noodles are honestly in there because they are on the very short list of noodle's I can eat not because I love them... (less than 25 carbs a day keeps the diabetes away! (-8) I'm not trying to totally undersell them for anyone looking to try them though, they make a great stand in for most things noodle-y, especially if it's got lots of flavours! I love to make a recipe that Sio posted years ago (peanut butter/sriracha, but with a bit of my own spices) with them or add them to a stir-fry or 'Shanghai noodle' and they fit right in, (-8
and, wow those are lovely shots Arcane! I had big plans for getting out more this summer and working on my own (very amateur but full of enthusiasm) photography, (-8
I read more last year than I had in the previous five and I loved getting back into it! ....it's weird being so surrounded by books that I'd sort of slipped out of kicking back with a good novel, but I'm happy I broke out of that slump, (-8
...and that trip sounds amazing Sio! I hope we get to see some of those photos, (-8
...and I am only a third through my stew which is also just one of my fav things, I should add a recipe over there as well (-8
