Phae'Shalee listened to the strange, cloaked speaker for a moment. When the sphinx lept from the temporary stage and vanished by ducking back into the glare of the sun, the youthful sphinx cocked her head for a moment. "Hmm, that's strange." she wondered why nobody tried to find where the sphinx went, but her own curiousity was getting the better of her. Carefully piling her too-long hair away from her paws she stood and started to look around the tall stones, carved out caves and log balance beams of the very feline-themed lounge area. Sniffing she tried to look around, only to gag on the strong scents of anise seed. She snorted and snuffed, the scent too strong in her own nostrils, overpowering her sense of smell.

Ankhu tilted his head at the cloaked stranger's warning. A warning that was implicit in what he (or she) had already said, at least to one with scribal training. But not all Sphinx reason the same way you do, his inner voice told him. He rose, stretched, shook out his wings, and then caught sight of a pair even larger than his own. Their owner (Korrina) seemed to be holding a discussion with a courtier (Nefertikare) about the stranger's message. Gathering up his writing utensils, the scribe padded over to them and waited for a break in the conversation before speaking.
"Quite a strange message. I wonder where in Khemet the stranger came by that information? I had not heard such things before, but then, royal succession has seldom been called into question in such a way as this." Ankhu looked from one to the other of the females as he spoke; he enjoyed discussing ideas and the origins of legends, even when the stability of Khemet was at stake.

Phae'Shalee rubbed her dark nose with the back of her foreleg. She wiggled her nose a couple more times and tried to blink back tears that the strong scent in her nostrils were welling up.
"So, I guess that things haven't been to great around here lately then huh?" she tried to say to anybody who may be listening but her voice was a little clogged tough due to her nose not quite working properly and came out more like 'I guebb dat ting haffen ben to gwat awond hewe watwey den huh?' She took a moment to snort and try to clear out her over-stimulated nose once again. Darn cloaked figure leaving anise seed to cover her scent tracks.
"Ugh." she wiped her tearing eyes again. "So, where do you guys go to get information anyhow? Do you have a library?"

((OOC note)) As ( Mr. Pooka's) Ryder lay up atop the leather store, and he muttered to himself something about a treasure hunt, the little brown cat named 'hunt' hears his name and pokes his head out from a hidden corner of the roof, mewing curiously. And, Mr. Pooka has insisted (offline) that I make even more cats later on because he's accidentally won two from different artists already and he feels bad.

Fable noticed Zen trying to get her attention and soon herd his stomach growl. "When was the last time we ate?" Looking up at Thaddeus she spoke quietly. "Do you know if there is a tavern around here?"
Her tail was twitching nervously since she rarely liked to just 'chat' with others for no reason and Zen was not helping since he was staring all big eyed at the greek as if he just noticed him.

Nefer was lost again, searching for someone when a possible someone approached herself and Korr. She'd blink at the feather winged male and tilt her head curiously before laughing and saying simply. "Strange indeed. But, as you so aptly put, we've so rarely seen an issue with succession as this past year." Her eyes traveled away from him a moment, searching the crowd until she caught sight of the female exploring the place the stranger had been. Her ears flicked forward then swiveled back as she silently debated but there was nothing like the present to get going.
She'd look to Korrina and say,"How about we split up for a bit? I have a hunch and I'm going to find something out. You wait here, friend, in the shade and listen for any further clues?" She'd only wait long enough for Korrina to respond before bounding off and toward the black and white long haired lady. Her composure coming back quickly as she slowed and stopped feet away.
This allowed her to catch the last part of Phae's question and she'd wait a moment before speaking up. "I believe we have several. But why do you ask?" Even as she questioned she felt the tickle to her nose of the scent - anise was it? She wrinkled her nose and brought up a paw to swipe quickly before looking back again.
It wasn't as super strong if she held her breath a bit, or simply avoided opening her mouth to taste it.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Korrina was just as delighted by an addition to her company by the male - scribe? Yes scribe. She could tell be the various scrolls and brushes he had upon his person. As if the ink stained paws wouldn't be a dead give away. She'd smile and nod as Nefer spoke to him then was given barely a chance before friend abandoned her to sit and listen. Her ears flattened back against her skull for a second before she looked to the male and murmured,"Off topic. But do I really look that pitiful that I should just sit upon my paws while my friend adventures?"
She'd give him a second to ponder before brushing it off and sighing, "Even if I do! I could find out more I think here than she. After all.. I have a knowledgeable other with me yes?" She smiled becomingly at him then sighed, "though I should warn you that I know little of your customs. Is this really the first time there's been such trouble over your royal lines?"
She blinked and interrupted him quickly,"And those are lovely wings you have! It is not often I see Egyptians with them.." Korrina beamed a little more, tilting her head to hear his response better. The surround park having gotten a little more active with the stranger come and gone.

Thaddeus glanced at Zen, then pointed nonchalantly towards a bar off across the distance. “Over there.” He offered.
He’d only been the tavern once before, and wasn’t fond of how crowded it was for a creature as large as he was. Even with tucking his wings in, it was still a squeeze.
Gently he ran his paw through his slightly mangled, russet colored hair. He began to wonder where Korr was. If she were in the vicinity, or if she were still on duty off in another land. His heart ached slightly. Something he still was unused to, after all, a Spartan knew no emotion. A Spartan was to be a stone, especially a Spartan soldier of such blue blood. At least that was what he had been taught, but slowly this land was beginning to teach him another way. Slowly.
He sighed swiftly, making it sound almost like a cough. No need to make himself appear as though his wild thoughts were affecting him.

((catching up))
Sheshet smiled at the baker's complement of her piercing, and was about to give a polite thanks, but instead found her eyebrows rising in surprise at the word "free". Sheshet hesitated, a little suspicious. What... were the pastries drugged or something? She glanced around quickly and looked back at the baker carefully. She didn't *seem* the type to intend to do harm. She seemed genuine in her offer. And... Sheshet had to admit, her tactic did have sound business sense... the first for free, and then when the customer is hooked, they'll be back for more. Hmmm.
Cautiously, she accepted the sugared pastry, and stumbled out a "Thank you, so very generous" before she felt her cheeks blush, and she turned away.
Stepping back out of the crowd a few paces, Sheshet cautiously examined her pastry, and then took a careful bit. Ohhhhh but it was good! The servant's food in the palace was certainly above what most peasants could expect, but it was hardly exquisite, and treats like this were rare. Rolling the bite around on her tongue, she didn't taste anything that didn't belong... perhaps it was safe after all. Decision made, she practically inhaled the rest of the treat, and brushed away the last crumbs from her paws. Just in time, too, as a figure suddenly called out to the crowd, and Sheshet turned to find the source.
Sheshet listened carefully to his message, and just as quickly as he arrived, the stranger was gone. Sheshet considered... an ancient myth... it sounded too good to be true, or some fanciful story. But if it were true, and the artifacts were indeed possible to find... well surely the reward would be worth the risk.
But... what now? She looked around in confusion, wondering if there were more surprises in store.

As fable was about to leave she wondered if something was wrong with the greek, he seemed as if he was in a daze. She opened her mouth but quickly closed it and thought it would be wise to mind her own business.
Thanking the greek she began to leave to the tavern he showed her. Zen mewed at Thaddeus and gave off a catty smirk before following Fable to the tavern with a prance in his step.

((OOC notes now)) Okay, people are starting to figure this out, so there are the official rules. ^_^ First off I was waiting for somebody to notice and figure out that there were a few 'official rp' threads popping up. It was more of a little secretive thing to see if it was picked up or not. When a sphinx wants to go search a place you actually rp to remove them from this thread (or the later threads they are in) and then rp them entering the other 'place'. (ie. they can't be in two places at once. So if they are leaving the park to enter, say, the library, describe them leaving the park in this thread, then describe them showing up in the library in the library thread. ) Am I being clear? Sometimes I don't describe things very well. If there is a place that your sphinx has an idea to search (that I didn't have the foresight to think of) let me know and I'll add a thread for it . ^_^ (just send me a pm on PI, or mention in the thread that the sphinx is going to that place to look and I'll try to add the site thread ASAP) Basically I know the end to this story, and I'm following your leads a bit for how your sphinxes are going to search for this. If I think a place would have some clues or something to help them figure it out I'll rp it along with you in the thread. Even if it doesn't have a proper clue there may be rp opportunities there, or danger, or just dead ends and wild goose chases. So have fun. The Park can easily be a 'home base' for the rp, but if there is a large amount of sphinxes deciding to start meeting somewhere else (ie. the Tavern, the palace, etc) I can put a note in here that the 'home rp thread' has moved. lol Have fun! (( End of OOC note ))

((OOC: Oh, okay xD I had noticed a couple hours earlier but was unsure on whether what to do. Glad it's been cleared though!))
Seger itched to get a move on. Somewhere, anywhere. Glancing up and over towards the Greek Soldier, who seemed to be making a large gathering around him, she thought of maybe following him. But he was moving towards the street to the Tavern, where the magician wasn't too interested in getting close in tight spaces with just anybody.
Perhaps the Library? Even though Seger had trouble reading any form of foreign script here, especially hieroglyphs, she thought she might as well have given it a try. It definitely beat the Tavern, in her opinion.
Nodding a pleasant farewell to Dark, and giving a slight toothy smirk, Seger bounded towards the Library.

"Oh I dont carry the big sword for intimidation." Dark chuckled. "I just like using it so I don't have to make a lot of small cuts on my prey. It's more fun and ensures they linger a while but I'm afraid I don't have the patience."
As his reputation preceeded him he might have a more difficult time with this one but that was alright. She was pretty and better at conversation that he'd really expected. Not being bored to death while he was trying to get her alone was always a plus.
"These things always take ages to get going. All the more reason to have good company for them I'd say." Dark smiled. Surreptitiously he glanced over at Avery to see if she was coming down, but she didn't seem to be in the mood to socialize. It occurred to him then that her protection from the sun must not be very good. Something he'd forgotten to cover thus far. Oops.
The flying cub coming at him was somewhat less unexpected than in previous times. It was at times irritating but Dark also happened to know that some females responded to the whole playing daddy thing. So rather than flinging or dodging, Dark allowed the pounce and then turned to give the cub a mock glare.
"Remind me to have a talk with you about sneaking up on assassins." He said, shaking his head. "And don't touch the knife. If you cut something off I don't want to deal with your mother." He laughed.
"Saphira here has a thing for me." He explained to Seger with a shrug. "Don't ask me what. I tried telling him to get lost but he's very persistent. And maybe a little stupid." He eyed the cub, but didn't remove him.
Their host decided to speak up finally after that so he turned his attention to the speaker. It was a fascinating story, and for just a moment it got him thinking. If anyone who found this thing could become pharaoh...
Visions of harems danced in his head, but they quickly vanished under a pile of paperwork. No, being pharaoh was nice for guys like his brother maybe, but he'd end up nuts. Well, more so than usual according to some but still. He was much more of a direct hack and slash kind of guy, not given to playing games of intrigue.
"I hate politics." He agreed with a frown. "However I hate unrest even more. I end up having to do a lot of killing without getting paid. Then I have to do more to erase debts because I'm not getting paid... It's a whole production."
The female decided to dart off without waiting for him to choose, but it didn't matter that much. Plenty of fish and all that. But where to go... The tavern seemed rather idiotic. Who hides priceless things in a tavern, and what tavern is the kind of place a scholar would visit?
The library had potential though. Maybe if he could find a nice librarian to nibble on he could pick her brain at the same time. "Library it is." He decided, and glanced at the cub on his back. "You coming?"

"...do I really look that pitiful that I should just sit upon my paws while my friend adventures?"
The courtier (Nefer) had bounded off before giving him a chance to respond properly to her comment, but this Greek female was certainly intriguing. Ankhu smiled. "You don't look pitiful at all, but it is easier to talk when one is not walking."
"Even if I do! I could find out more I think here than she. After all.. I have a knowledgeable other with me... though I should warn you that I know little of your customs. Is this really the first time there's been such trouble over your royal lines?"
"It is the first occasion I've heard of where there was no official heir to the throne. Though I believe there have been times in the past when there was a question of legitimate succession," the scribe admitted, his smile disappearing. Court politics were full of intrigue at the best of times. He was about to say something along those lines when the female broke in again.
"And those are lovely wings you have! It is not often I see Egyptians with them.."
"Thank you. It is true, few of us are winged, and most of those who are - like myself - have foreign blood in our veins." Ankhu's smile returned briefly. "It is unusual, too, to meet a Greek who speaks Khemetic so well. Have you lived here long?"

Link to profile for Adjo.Ajdo was nearly late to the gathering, and barely was able to catch the words of the mysterious Sphinx on the rocks. He dashed over, wanting to find out who it might have been, but the large number of Sphinxes who were still milling about made this impossible. By the time he arrived, the Sphinx was long gone. He nosed around a bit in the sand, trying to find some tracks, but it appeared as though the stranger had taken care to jump from rock to rock and avoid the sand below. And the smell of anise was completely overwhelming and scent trail, too. Adjo shook his head, angry with himself for being late and missing the opportunity to figure out what on earth was going on. The legend of the Royal Crook and Flail of Osiris was a well known one, and while Adjo didn't exactly disbelieve it, believing that they were not only real, but could be found as a little tough for him to wrap his head around. Turning to go, he barely managed to keep from bumping into a beautiful courtier ( Nefer) and a lovely black Sphinx ( Phae), who most definitely looked foreign. He felt he should be able to place her - his mother was a diplomat, after all, and he had some international experience - but her traits and beautiful silver hair were unlike anything he had ever seen before. He frowned as she spoke, having to think his way through her words because they sounded so odd. Did she have a cold or was that her natural accent? "We do have a library," he nodded to Phae as he spoke. "And I believe it would probably be the best place to start searching. If there are clues to be found on something so ancient I believe they would most likely be there." He paused a little awkwardly for a moment, before the court manners his mother had taught him took over. Adjo bowed formally to the both, and introduced himself. "My name is Adjo, and I am a Charioteer in the Pharaoh's...well, in Egypt's military. May I ask your names?" ((OOC: ETA: Ah, snap, sorry Toxi! I missed where you had already posted to Phae. I'll try to edit. ))
