Ankhu was a little bit uncertain as to which sphinx he should approach, but the matter was decided for him soon enough. A cloaked stranger whose appearance he could not quite make out was speaking, referring to the ancient conflict between Osiris and Set and the ancient symbols by which the next Pharaoh could be known.
The scribe nodded to show his understanding. "The lack of a living Pharaoh, a Horus to Osiris Nebtawy, is disrupting the natural harmony of Khemet," he opined to whoever was nearby. "And I cannot help but feel that efforts to restore ma'at should not be delayed further."

Gula turned slightly to listen to the raspy voice which spoke from the rocks, he was offering hope in the form of a quest for some ancient relics? That was nothing at all like she'd expected, and she wasn't sure she was pleased or not with the proffered hope.
Ishtar nuzzled Gula's neck and smiled warmly at the marbled baker, "We'd love one, thank you."
"Ishtar were you listening?"
"Yes she said the first one's free."
"I'm not talking about food."
"Oh... but isn't food important?"
"Yes but -"
"But nothing, we need to eat before we go on silly missions, quests for lost objects, things of the like."
"You were listening... Why did you not say so in the first place?"
"Because honey is being offered."
Gula groaned and shook her head, anything would go over her love's head if only honey were being offered, if honey were even being mentioned to be entirely honest.

"I give you this warning..." the mysterious figure continued 'The Royal Crook and Flail of Osiris do exist, it's location unknown. If some courageous and clever sphinxes could find these items, they would be able to cease a forthcoming civil war before it started. I appeal to you, the citizens of this land, the ones whose families, homes and well being will be at stake if tensions erupt into something worse, I plead with you to seek out these items, bring forth a new Pharaoh, and keep strife at bay."
With those words the figure lept back off of the perch from the top of the structure, the sun glaring brightly where the barely seen sphinx once stood.

As Fable was about to climb back into the tree a figure appeared and started talking. Not being able to hear the figure she walked over and sat by Shobek and Thaddeus since they seemed to be some types of soldiers. Dropping Zen on the ground she titled her head in greeting to them before listening to the figure finish talking.
Zen waited for the figure to leave before he started mewing at Fable since she wasn't paying attention to him as she was in deep thought.
"Should I even get mixed up in this?" Fable asked herself not realizing she spoke aloud.

((bio))Before Mais and Pabi can get through the crowd, a voice calls attention to everyone, from on top of the cave in the playground, a silhouette of a figure. Mais can hardly make out who because the sun is so blinding, casting a shadow and hiding any details that might give away who it is. The hint of a large hooded cloak flaps in the breeze. She cups her hands over her eyes to shield the sun's glare, but still she can't make out who it is. And she doesn't recognize the voice. Squeezing by the gathering sphinxes she makes it a little closer to the front of the crowd. Whispers of a legend ... symbols of his station ... the crook and flail ... 'Who's station? What symbols? A new Pharaoh? Warning? Come on Pabi, let's get back to the house and maybe someone will be able to fill us in on this.'

Ryder was perched on the roof of a ..*he leaned over the edge and looked down*.. leather store? Hummm, he'd have to peek inside later but he wasn't wholey sure if he liked some of the local styles yet. Now the jewellery on the other had, he'd have to, uhm, pick some up for Phae'Shalee! Something about this current body of his made him enjoy stretching out in the sun while he carefully eyed his wife playing and socializing below. He just had a feeling that totay would be a good day to keep a good lookout and the bulky shadowy form he saw pounce to another nearby rooftop, then bound to where he was perched assured him that he might just be right. Ryder looked up from under his hat at the huge newcomer but tried to keep a cool demeanor. He nodded at the cloaked form who in turn shook his maned head and the cloaks hood fell back revealing an impressive golden mane and an equally powerful stare. Ryder could feel the male sizing him up and realized this was not a guy he wanted to tustle with! Ryder just said "hey" with a nod. "Your not the one leaving notes around the city are you?" Gunju asked. There was a goodness about him that would be hard to explain if your brother wasn't a paladin, but there was also a demanding force behind his words that just made you want to do what you were told. "uh, sorry sir, not me. I'm just keep'n my eyes on my lady, case today brought any troubles, that ok with you?" Ryder said politly, his strange accent showing. Gunju stared carefully making some sort of inward decision about Ryder, then smiled. "alright stranger, you can keep your perch on my roof but you should be careful to keep yourself out of trouble, these are ... dangerous times." "of course I'll keep out of trouble!" Ryder lied through his teeth. "You don't look like a sandle selling merchant if I might say." he said as he motioned with his paw to the roof he was perched on. Ryder also took a moment to glance back down to see Phae chattinging with a couple of girls and nibbling on a big sticky bun. "Technically at the moment they are all my rooftops" The maned male (as if practised Ryder thought) posed on the edge of the rooftop nobley and stared at the crowd below. There was no time to respond to Gunju's cryptic comment as the cloaked figure below came out of hiding to deliver the cryptic message of crook and flail... Ryder couldn't hear everything from where he was, but the jist of it seemed to be a treasure hunt! This day was look'n better and better! "Interesting." Gunju mentioned after the stranger spoke. "Farewell traveller" He said to Ryder before he shook the cloak back to hide his appearance before leaping away with muscular bounds, before Ryder could say anything. Ryder watched him go... The maned male kind of reminded him of Yarion even past the obviously superficial similarities... interesting! Ryder looked below to see what the crowd was going to do next.

Thaddeus sat quietly a moment when questioned by the bright female. In truth, he wasn’t sure how to respond, or how much he should trust her. By the looks of it, she wasn’t exactly screaming trust me. What with her shiny jewelry, and tightly braided hair. There had to be a reason behind her look, and it wasn’t Thaddeus’ place to ask. Nor was it his nature to offer his story.
“Long story.” He responded just as a shady figure came out into the open, shouting all sorts of what not.
Civil war? What was this nonsense? I guess this situation could all be pointed back to the Pharaoh. The whole many wives, still bothered Thaddeus. Something about it didn’t ring true to him. ‘Well I guess that’s yet again, another difference.’ He kept to himself for a reason, to him the customs in this land were far off of what he had learned. Not to mention the unbearable heat. Didn’t these beings know that the worst time to be out was when the sun was at its highest?
When he was still in training he was taught how to find places to keep out of the harmful rays of the sun. Many soldiers die from heat exhaustion, at least those were the few that hadn’t learned.
Another blue female sat near the other soldier. ‘Huh, she looks… odd.’ And in all honesty, she did. Obviously she was another foreigner, and she just happened to be thinking the same exact thing.

A warning, huh? Seger immediately sat up, full alert strumming through her veins. Not to mention excitement! So it wasn't a waste of time after all, having come here this find day. For once, the magician was glad her hunger gave her something in return.
Either way, warning or not, the promise of adventure seemed more alluring. And if she thought about it for a while, it didn't make sense at all for a warning to be enticing. Seger shrugged, mumbling a few things under breath. "So nice for him to care," and with that, she watched the figure disappear.
"Not much of a warning," Seger said aloud to both Dark and Saphira. "Although I was unaware of civil war in this city. I don't have much of a mind for politics."
Focusing on the situation at hand, she racked her brain for her past studies in history. Over the years she'd spent time in countless eras. Learned their history and their present. And while she had a few lessons in that of Egyptian history back home, it never touched upon lore. Unfortunately, this was a time she couldn't remember the former either. "Oh to hell with it, where do we start?"

((OOC note here)) When HybridSiren says 'great' a cat who also thinks that he's pretty great... so great that he was named it, comes out to join her. ~*~ Sunchaser mentions 'shadow' and a dark cat who had been hiding in the shadows comes out to nuzzle her. ~*~ Ariya mentions the 'sky' and a cat coloured like the evening sky leaps down from it's perch high atop a building and comes to nuzzle her hand, purring.

Nefer's tail trembled behind her as the stranger departed. A warning! A warning so dire as to set the very air around the crowd to vibrate! A civil war would do no one any good and least of all herself, but the solution was something she'd never even considered. Even growing up with the respect and belief in the god's; she'd never thought there was the actual Osiris crook and phial! And even if she'd spent a moment to ponder it, she wouldn't have thought that any but the god's temple would have it or perhaps the pharaoh's themselves. But that it was out in the world, hidden and could save her beloved land! She twitched in place and blinked. Pondering the riches and possibilities this brought.
Meanwhile, Korrina was lost in her own wonderings about the warning. Did this mean that Khemet was not as stable as once she'd been lead to believe? Was it - perhaps - possible that the whole system was falling around the very ears that lived in this place? She could hardly believe it but maybe. She shook her head and turned to nudge Nefer when she caught a glimpse of someone she knew. Someone she knew almost as well as herself and someone surrounded by females. Her eyes narrowed for a brief second upon the male then she resolutely turned her attention away! No use getting upset in public - not with Nefer beside her.
Korrina finally nudged Nefer out of her stupor and though she was a little more rough than intended, Nefer ignored that and looked back up at her. "Are we going to help in the search, Nefer?"
"Of course we are! You're always complaining that you're not included in things with our courts.. this is a perfect time.. Well as good a one as any.."
Korrina sighed and looked down at her paws, "Fine. But where do we start? It sounds like this is all mysterious and rather.. convenient if nothing else."
Nefer nodded and sighed herself. She'd not known about this before either.. but wasn't there someone who might know? She looked around, frantically searching the groups and wondering then watching to see who would make the first moves. Something had to give and then she'd pounce on it!
