How about an outsider prompt--for our OCs of a different realm? Sure they have their powers ad stuff set in but it might make it easier if they go through prompts to solidify what they can and cannot do once they cross that portal and reach Ahket.
Also, I fully intend on poking but ill need to read things over again and wait for that blasted headache ot go away. Theres a lot to take in and im scared im going ot mess something up or post something im not supposed to.

That is a great idea MA. I like how it would help us figure out what we want/can bring with our characters through the portals, it'll make RPing them in a different setting more.. unique and interesting. ^^ And challenging! I might even play with the idea that coming through the portal erased some things for them ... hmmm Potential!!
Also, I'd like to see an HoD Thieves thread..Mostly because Ayoma (my HoD lady) is being pushy and wants to jump in and rank herself up. >.>; OH and potentially a child thread. We have a teens one but alot of my children sphinxes would like to eventually jump on in and play around. Could make for some fun group rps too! Getting play dates set up.. etc. ^^

..Actually, yeah. Since only 2 sphinxes can be active at one time and I want to work on some of my OCs, I think ill wait until the prompt is out if there will be one I figure people may be interested in some of the lesser known characters and I really need to sit down and write stuff out. This is an excuse for that

so are we just awnsering the prompt questions about our character? like listing them? or does it have to be in like a story form? does it matter?

Actually that brings up an interesting point. We're allowed to have 2 characters at a time in the Sphinx Stories. Is there any other potential limits to number of times we may post? Such as..
Say I post for Ayoma -- HoD Rank 1.1 on Tuesday. Could I, permitting I'm inspired enough that day, post again for Ayoma that same day for HoD Rank 1.2? Or, since you're still working things out/seeing how it goes will this be something possibly addressed if it becomes an issue?
I only ask because on a REALLY good day I could potentially write up four to five short stories to submit for rank prompts.. or at least I could once I have more time this summer. ...
[ETA] -- and TOTALLY separate thing/question/curiosity -- If say.. we currently have a Tomb Robber and wanted to post about things from their past (to flesh out background/story) that pertains to when they were Golden Paw thieves could we do that and essentially attain 'ranks' for that and then.. if there is an eventual Tomb Robber thread work toward/through the tomb robber rank posts?

For those who are confused, the prompts are meant to be something that inspires a creative response. Just an answer wouldn't suffice, but a short story, drawing (not a quick doodle, something with some effort put into it - skill doesn't matter, just effort), a page of RP in the forums, sculpture, baking (ie. a prompt that asks what your sphinx does for a job, and they're a peasant baker... bake some Egyptian style bread and take a picture of it!). For example, I'm in a prompt group on DA where it's a modern fantasy setting where they have questions to gain ranks... once you reach a new rank your rp character gets a new ability. (These are links to DA, some have nudity, just warning those who are under age, etc.) These are for Peaseblossom, my wolf pooka... a shapeshifting faerie who has a set animal form. Rank 1 1. Show off yourself in your animal shape. Are you happy with the animal you are able to take the form of? 1.1 Picture2. It is a known fact that Pookas are tricksters. Show us an example of what your favorite prank would be. 1.2 Picture3. Take to your animal shape once more. Its time for some fun. See what you can get up to in town, at the harbor, or near the local farms. 1.3 Picture4. While wandering the moors, you come across a fellow faerie. How to you greet your "cousin"? 1.4 PictureNew Ability: Half Form A pooka may now take minor traits of their animals, resulting in maybe a more animalish face, claws, eyes, or even a tail. NOTE: This is not a free card for Neko cats. There will be NO Neko cats, try to be a bit more creative than that. New Ability (finished that rank level)

good idea and I'll put it near the top of my list! This is something we really need for some Sphinx characters!
also awesome! it might be a fun way for people to limit/expand themselves if they feel the need, having their native powers changed by the local...
totally on the list... I tend to start with heroics and good guys but we do have some darkness in the background! (I jumped right in with the demon prompts... I couldn't get all of my concepts into one list so that's why I split them up... I still have one more for mischievous demons)
also on the list! (-8 we had contemplated using this as an alternate to standard growings as well...
that's another thing I just want to watch at first... the system was originally going to be a bit more prize based so we'll have to see how this evolves...
oh there would be no limit for the number of posts if the muses are on your side! I kind of work the same way... sometimes I've got it and sometimes I don't...
For the Sphinx Stories I would think so, at least a bit... Depending on the kind of story I'm writing it couldn't hurt to double check some spelling and such but there are exceptions! (for example, writing in a more conversational style for comics...) Grammar and spelling are not always my friends either but I'd for these types of things I'd put more work in myself just to make things look nice. I'd think of it as being the difference of drawing a quick picture for myself or to express something quick in an RP vs. posting a finished piece of art for my DA account.
I think Pooka just put up some good examples! I'll add a few more descriptive notes tomorrow as well, (-8 (my eyes are starting to get tired and blurry!)

Will there eventually be a sub section for our entries? Seems like it may get a little cluttered with all the prompt info and our entries.

I keep poking about and I wana give this a try but none of the characters I would like to work on have prompts yet. XD
I'd love to see the peasants one get up. I think that one might be the one that will be used the most.

So if I wanted to do this for a courtier, would I have to go through the dancer prompts first (or whatever they were before a courtier) and then do the courtier stuff? I expect so, I just want to check ^_^ And in case you haven't already guessed, I would really really like some courtier prompts if possible!

So if I wanted to do this for a courtier, would I have to go through the dancer prompts first (or whatever they were before a courtier) and then do the courtier stuff? My understanding is that you wouldn't have to go and do ranks/prompts for the level/class before the ones that your sphinx may have had. I only asked my question about Tomb Robbers and their previous 'class' because some people may wish to. But I wouldn't think you'd -have- to do it. Plus, there are many many sphinxes out there who were customs, prizes, auctions, frankens, etc that never were a previous class before being 'made' into higher levels. ^^

I wonder--
Would you like me to start with a sphinx that already has a prompt? I will want to work on some OC ('outsider') sphinxes and those are top priority..but if its easier on you I might start with my demon.
I just don't want to shoot myself int he foot because of the 2 sphinx limit right now..though I guess if I work really hard I can get quality replies written out relatively soonish and you can check to see how the system is working?

Will there eventually be a sub section for our entries? Seems like it may get a little cluttered with all the prompt info and our entries. oh good plan! I think I'll set something up/rearrange things a bit... feel free to mention anything in particular your looking for! I've been keeping a list of suggestions that I'll try to work on. also I think I have a peasant one done but forgot to post it? I'll check my laptop when I switch over to colour cats, (-8 Toxi was on the right trail there. I think that any prompt list that you feel can apply to your character should be open to them. So in your example your character could just do a courtier one if you'd like, but you would also have the option to do an earlier one to delve into character pasts as well if it seemed fun! The prompts don't always need to follow a time continuity if it helps tell a good story and they can also be used as a fun way to explain some of the characters progression! We have a usual class progression for job fairs (peasant-scribe-magician for example) but with some of the games and contests we do there are always exceptions and it could be fun to tell a story about a character you won/bought who came with a class. Like if you won your courtier in a game and wanted to tell a long backstory about how they were a peasant, became a golden paw thief, who began to feel guilty about stealing and joined the city guard, then got promoted to charioteer but got depressed when her horsed died in a war then threw herself into dancer to dance her pain away who fell in love with a noble, got married and became a courtier then go for it! basically the prompts are simply here to provide inspiration to help tell stories, (-8 There might be two exceptions that I'll mention though... first if we go with a major prize system in the future there might be a couple of restrictions put in just to prevent abuse of the system (not that I'd expect it but just to make sure!) and occasionally there will be some 'story' or 'adventure' prompts that I will be doing that might have a limited time or other restrictions such as 'must be done during 2015 Heb Bastet' or 'participating in the Searching for Sahret game' or a holiday event 'Halloween/Samhain special event only open during Oct/Nov 2015'... usually ones with restrictions like these will come with some sort of extra reward (-8 You know, for now just ignore the 2 character limit. The major reason that was added was because I was going to be much more prize heavy with rewards for characters participating but if we are moving to a more RP based concept (which I love!) then the limit is probably not needed. I might have to change this in the future if for some reason it becomes a problem but at the moment... ya just ignore the 2 character limit, (-8

Ah ok, thanks guys! I think I may do Shyam's dancer history to start with then, since that past of his is quite a big part of who he is for me ^^
