Sort of! We saw just a little bit of snow at a rest stop while we were on the drive which was fun. It was my second time ever seeing snow of any kind. I’ve still never seen snow actually falling. Our cabin/house is on a little river. It’s really nice to be able to sit out on the porch and just listen and enjoy the cold. It was 86F when we left Florida. That’s 30C for those not used to our weird scale. So, it’s been nice to get to some lower temps. That sounds awesome, (-8 There's a nice little river where I'm going to take Pooka to have Yule fire and roast some outdoor goodies... lots of snow there! I'm not sure if I could survive the southern heat! I don't think I mind the cold as much as really... but I after a few months of snow I'm definitely ready to give up shoveling it... Now... I'm even more behind schedule! I got lost in a photoshop Yuletide project... let me get sorted here and then see what we have behind door number 5!

*rolls in super late* Can someone send some brownies or elves to my house? I don't want to clean the kitchen ...AGAIN. Plus my wrists are about tofall off. In my travels I've seen some of the brownies and other fae both mischievous and helpful, the creatures you need to ask for help from in Katterheim are the Nisse. Tiny men, usually with large, often pointed hats, Nisse tend to be easy to call but one must continue to offer them their gift of porridge with butter... Don't forget the pat of butter and it is advisable to put it right on top of the porridge so the Nisse knows its there! Now, if you forget, or stop leaving him his gifts he will probably leave... and remember you as stingy and probably never return. Also there are some... eccentricities to be aware of as well. Once you have the help of a Nisse, besides his porridge and butter, it is important to remain polite and proper in whatever buildings he helps in or there may be more severe results... any sign of rudeness such as intentionally leaving messes for the Nisse (He's a helper, not a servant!) or impolite comments, any type of profane swearing or other acts of rudeness the Nisse will also leave, but not before causing much mischief, some of which might be both costly and even dangerous! There is quite a bit more lore on the Nisse that you might want to ask some of the locals about if you are interested in summoning one for your own household.
Now as for the Alfar, or elves as you call them, I'll have to let them address the topic of their role as helper as I'm not as educated on the local customs as they seem to be a bit different than my own homeland!

Byleiptr, that was wonderful information and I had not heard of the Nisse. I will have to keep all of that in mind. Though the ban on swearing -might- pose an issue in this household as my cats, lovely as they CAN be, love to trip me and I often curse as I try to avoid stepping on tails or paws. Sometimes it's the fault of the dog too. Hmmmm all good things to consider!
Also, congratulations to all winners (as they are announced) for the Holly and Ivy! <3

Since Day 5 is starting so late today, I probably won't make it in; I've got to head to bed (it's already 10:30 pm here and I've gotta be up at 6:30 to take my boyfriend to work!) pretty shortly. But it's been so much fun so far, so hopefully I can be around for tomorrow's fun! Can't wait to see what's behind door #5 though. Good luck everyone! -hugs-

Wreaths! While wreaths came loaded with symbolism, custom and tradition, sometimes things were just done for the joy of the holiday season! Evergreen boughs, birch bark, holly, ivy, berries, pinecones, bells, ribbons and bows all found their way into custom wreaths along with even more personalized or symbolic selections. Whether complex or simple, wreaths could be seen everywhere and were often given as gifts as a way to spread the warm joy and help call forth the green energies of the earth slumbering under the snow. Every year in Katterheim the Sphinxes looked for more ways to incorporate their evergreens into personal rituals and wearing wreaths themselves was a way to convert fashion into a personal call to the spirits of spring that Yule was hear and it was time to wake up! ...and sometimes simply dressing up for the season and adding the positive feeling of happiness and joy were the only reasons anyone needed to wear a festive ring of evergreens and ribbons! ----------------------------- Door #5 - Wreaths!Post an image of a Wreath in this thread to be entered into a draw for a wearable Sphinx wreath! You have up to 12 hours after this post to enter. We will be giving away 5 wreaths chosen at random. If you post and image of a Wreath that you made yourself (including drawings or other mediums) make sure you post in bold " I made this!" and you are chosen on the list above you will win TWO wreaths, one for yourself and one to gift to anyone you want, (-8

Ooo, I should and will also mention that for many of the festive items I can easily make you an alt cert during this event if you have any Sphinxes you'd like to dress up with your Yule items that might not be how they dress for the rest of the year, (-8
This option is not always available, but for events like this it's nice and fun I think!

One is on the front door and the other is fiancé's...and its pitch black outside ^^' Maybe ill take a picture if I remember to once its light outside. Its a tribble wreathe!! As far as this image goes, I have a few of them. Leftover stock from moms basket business days and used for art/creative stuffs >>

dose it have to be a wreath you made recently? I have a pic of one I made as a gift a few years ago, would that count? and would it need to have your username in the picture?

I made this!More like.. I made two of these and the other two my sister made. I designed the Mickey Wreath from Dollar Store garland, wreath forms and well.. ornaments. They've stood QUITE the test of time. Though not so much my ornaments. If these are 'not recent enough' I have a few others I've made I'll have to pull out and grab pics of. Just let me know! ^^ I apologize for the many pictures; I couldn't find my photos of these and so went to my sister's facebook. Since she documented them and shared via social media. Something I'm terrible about.
