also I guess there is really no real updates here in our corner of Canada... everything is slowing and shutting down. Most schools are closed, all our local city/gov places are shut down (like arenas, museums, etc.), all major events are cancelled, many other companies are self closing in prep for it becoming mandatory. I'm super glad I've got a full freezer and pantry and player full of good shows to watch! (not that there are any real shortages, just some initial panic shopping clearing the shelves of things we already had lots of before this stuff happened.) We also get a slightly different perspective living in a little town. I mean when I went to the store a few days ago it was super busy (and everyone seemed a bit on edge, but were still polite and cordial) and a few things were all sold out, but really I can't get over watching the news about lineups and even fights breaking out of stuff that'll be back in stock in just a few days. I know so many of you like in bigger cities I get concerned!
...I'm also a little fascinated by the world news. Italy, Spain and the US especially... also there was something I didn't expect, which is the dramatically different information that people are getting on this topic? Pooka's mom is currently in Florida and when she called a couple of days ago she didn't even know some of most important facts we're getting in Canada because the reports are so different there? She's not particularly internet savvy, so isn't reading world sites, just watching American News on TV... I'm can't help but keep my eye on the different perspectives/information sources as this whole things evolves in front of us!
I hope everyone is staying safe, happy and healthy, (-8 Now I'm going to eat Jamaican patties and watch Star Wars, (-8

As of today the place I work is closed , we got all our cats adopted out, and so just our bunny and our bonded guinea pigs and one hamster had to go to foster. Its going to be odd not going to work anymore for a bit though

Can I just implode on someone?
With things how they are, one of the groomsmen isn't sure about going to get fitted and says if we don't stop it now, its going to hit really bad in 6-8 weeks.
No, I cant postpone or move things..only way that happens is if the actual location shuts down. We aren't bad here--its the same low risk as I was before. The gov't is just taking a bit more action to try to tamper things down. If people just don't go out unless they have to, wash their hands and keep personal space, this should blow over ._.

Right now, here in TN, we have 52 cases with one being just a county away from us. We're slowly starting to shut down as well, with everything from fundraisers to schools being shut down. We've not had any sort of fighting happen here for supplies that I know of, yet. Right now it's equal parts panic and acceptance where Phoenix and I live. Mostly we just try to stay inside. Luckily, we managed to get stocked up on food and supplies well ahead of this so we're looking pretty good for the long haul. I hope everyone is managing to stay safe and healthy during all of this.

Though we did have one idiot who has been making the news...
He went to all the small towns and such in his area and wiped them out of hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and masks. HE was then selling them for double-triple the price on Amazon until Amazon shut the store down for price gouging during an emergency.
Apparently he is also under potential charges from the Attorney General for doing so during an emergency. He hoarded like 17,000 bottles of sanitizer

Kentucky's shutting down, too. We had our first death in the state. Dine in for restaurants is closed. Schools were already closed! My hotel is currently still open but we're stopping our week day social dinners and hot breakfast. Cryptic stocked us up on a bunch of supplies today just in case we're confined to the house soon. I really don't want to go to work right now. x'D

Had our first “presumptive” case confirmed in my county yesterday. They’ve closed schools for the next 30 days. On the other side of the mountain they’ve close schools, restaurants for eat-in etc. Stores are limiting their hours... This doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, but I’m sure someone far wiser than myself came to the conclusion this is for good? To me it just seems like more people are going to be congregating because they can only access the store during the limited hours? -shrugs-
I’m now working from home. Which is ultimately fine by me. I do anticipate becoming stir-crazy at some point.

melodysangel Oh, this is such... timing! I truly hope things blow over and clear up for you in time. I'll keep my eye out for any good news on this one. Definitely a reserved special place in Hell for people like this. We've had a few similar cases in Canada. (Most reselling websites have banned this sort of thing as well, like Kijiki (sort of our Canadian Craigslist). I really hope these people are charged and punished. Moonlit_Arcane , hopefully with all of the travel bans and closures things will slow down for you at work? (I can only guess, Idk what working in a hotel is like) so perhaps you'll have lot less work, less contact with peole and and still get paid? *crosses fingers* Cameron I don't get the reduced store hours either... That being said a few stores are doing something I think makes more sense, they are having early opening hours for ONLY elderly shoppers so they can get their stuff without having to be exposed to the general public and get in and out before anyone else gets there. That one seems cool and makes more sense to me! We had some pretty big updates in Canada this morning; most airports are closing as are most ports with the exception of trade... our province has closed eat in restaurants and more services, hospitals are canceling all elective surgeries/procedures to keep clear for emergencies... and just a lot more stuff closing shop until further notice. I am glad to hear that everyone is still well and stocked up (-8 and because I keep reading to much Doom and Gloom on the news...

Barely found out in time that starting tomorrow the library is closed indefinitely. So run on books was needed and we got them all barely that we needed

It is a bit. So odd to see such quiet on streets now. Not used to it at all

Status Update.
My cousin, Nick, who we were worried had the virus does not. He was seen by a doctor and sent home with medicine to help but tested negative. Which is GOOD. But they did send him home because being at the hospital in his state would be BAD. So.. small mercies. Found out from my mom his 'enlarged heart' wasn't as bad as we'd feared. Though.. it's something he's going to have to watch in future as the family has heart issues on both sides for him. But yea. Good news there.
Found oatmeal at one of the grocery stores nearest me. Which means I can make cookies tomorrow. Which will be nice. Something to keep me active tomorrow for a bit.
Sad news; my mom, sister, and nieces are under shelter in place orders. All safe at home and mom finally found some toilet paper this morning for their house. Which is good. But who knows for how long they will be under those orders.
Our county hasn't -yet- decided to follow the 'shelter in place' as far as we know. But things are headed that direction I'm sure. We're just outside of Sacremento County and that houses the state capital so I imagine we're just under a few days from that.
So I guess.. this is just Day 2 of our own imposed social distancing. We've only gone to the stores as needed and for as long as needed. Otherwise we're home. At least together. It is so weird to see the streets empty of even people walking their dogs around us. Not normal. But yea. This is our lives..for now.

Im hopeful..that this is the start of the end of this dreadful thing. If people are under lockdown or otherwise practicing social distancing, the virus has a harder time spreading. Which hopefully means by mid april things will see a major turn for the better.
I hope.

Nothing particularly new on our end... Our whole town is pretty shut down (I mentioned a few times, but as a retirement community everyone is taking this with deadly seriousness around here...) but we're good. Haven't left the house in almost a week now but we didn't have anywhere to go or do anyways so its all good, (-8
I hope everyone is still doing ok and I look forward to hearing good news about things getting back to normal!

Just updating here. We're good here. Mom's good, I'm good, my dad's good. Work is still open, but drive thru only, our dining room is closed. Yea it's a pain for some people, but...we're only following orders. Monday was calm, Tuesday felt more like a Saturday slam and Wednesday was almost as calm as Monday. Made a trip to walmart this morning and it was quiet for the time being for them. Will be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow and Saturday.
