I did want to check in and see how everyone was doing... We seem to be past the giant news events and explosive announcements but its weird to feel like we're just getting used to this...
Personally I have to admit, the virus, and the rest of the news, is really grinding me down and is a constant distraction. I mean we're lucky that we don't have to interact with people on a daily basis and I'm a pretty frugal and careful shopper (I've only been to the shopping 3 times since March)... but watching the news has become an ...almost addiction? I'm usually a 'check the headlines' once a day kind of person but since this started I've watched and read more news this spring and summer then I probably have in my whole life. We've been cursed to live in interesting times!
A couple of weeks ago I had to go out of town to buy a lawnmower. Not a giant news story, but we couldn't get one I could afford in town and for $50 shipping the place I wanted mine from would deliver it sometime between 2 to 8 weeks, so maybe by the fall? ...so out of town I went for the first time this year and it was almost like a low budget apocalypse movie. Nothing smashed on the roads or roving zombies, but it was still kind of eerie. As I left town there were a half dozen signs warning people not to travel unless they had to (and there were the same warnings of not being welcome back into town on my return). The traffic on the trans Canada highway (Canada's largest and longest highway) was still fairly brisk and I was surprised to see so many people out driving... but I have to drive through a bunch of small towns to get to Sudbury and they all looked like ghost towns. No summer event signs, every store locked up and no people. The most striking spot was driving through Serpent River First Nation, a reserve about 45 min from town. Every entrance was blocked, barred and had no entry warning signs. The main point of entry off the highway was also blocked off and had ARMED GUARDS! I mean, a couple of guys with rifles or shotguns leaning against a trailer, nothing like the paramilitary style protesters seen on the news in other countries... but still kind of jarring.
Sudbury itself wasn't too bad but the two stores I had to go to are right on the edge of town (where big box stores are in every major city) so I can't really say what it was like in town, though the news on the radio mentioned the downtown core was going to be closed for protests... and I forgot to mention that two of the little cites where I as literally no-one had just finished their own protests... I just missed one that closed the highway for an hour. Either way, a short line up at Canadian tire to get a lawn mower and then a stop at Walmart because it didn't look to crazy and we needed a few things... Fortunately the Walmart was not like the ones down south where there are many hour long lineups and empty shelves. ..but the entrances are all caged off for quick locking of things get wild and there were a ton of signs warning and listing proper behavior (which was mostly followed! I only saw one huge family ignoring the rules with kids running wild, touching everything and ignoring social distancing, much to everyone else's chagrin and disapproving stares.)
I also happened to see two car accidents on the way, which is extremely irregular and just added to the surreal day. In the end I got home safely and things worked out but it's a strange strange world out there, not the same world I visited last year.
On another but the same topic, now we're shopping for some nice looking and quality masks... nice looking being optional but, now that everyone wants and needs them the options are increasing. It's a surreal to combine fashion with life saving PPE but that's 2020... Everything seems like a contradiction. People having to go to work when they don't feel safe, people who would risk anything to get back to work... people social distancing for safety then joining massive crowds to protest for safety....
Ah well, I find it a bit hard to express my thoughts and feelings on everything happening.... it kind of feels like the world is on fire...
Really I just hope everyone is keeping safe (and hopefully healthy and happy!), wherever you are, and especially all of our American friends...
Oh, lastly (for now!) if anyone does feel the need to chat, talk, rant or anything at all and are not comfortable to do it publicly you are always welcome to PM me about it! While I obviously do have my own ideas and opinions and perspectives I also have a nonjudgmental ear for anyone in need, (-8

Oh, im soo glad he tested negative <3
I..hate wearing masks. I cant breathe in them half the time and I overheat the other holf. But ive been wearing one every time I have to go out. Including tomorrow (chiropractor is open and I did something to my back last week while helping dad).
Im still really scared though. A lot of people ignoring basic standards. Im in the at risk category...don't need that extra anxiety ^^'
Moms also back to work. In a mall, at an Old Navy. She is also in the at risk category.
At this point in time I want to just have a vacciene that works so my anxiety can calm down. I don't think im alone on that thought either >>
Otherwise....end of august is still a big unknown and its scary not even knowing. BUT my puppy who will be a therapy dog was born 2 weeks ago and hell or high water take me before im unable to have him >> Got dad to agree to a temporary stay. Hopefully will be for like..2 weeks, then wedding. Worst case it gets postponed and he has to deal until next year >>
As far as masks go--cotton tshirts or old bedding and some elastic. If you don't have a sewing machine you can hand sew--they aren't that bad to make. The next door neighbor made a bunch for us (as my brother is front line and my own sewing machiene was put away/hers was out already). They do the job ^^'

I've got bins and bins of craft stuff that I might have to dive into! I've mostly been Sphinxing 24/7 but with a bit of free time coming up... I also bought a sewing machine years ago with the best of intentions, but never quite found the time for that one either! It would be so much cooler to make our own masks, (-8
Like I mentioned a few times, I really haven't been out much, but almost every time I have there's always one... Like when I was at Walmart and there was that nightmare family. I mean there's dozens of posted signs on the way in and through the store asking that only one person per family shop at once and all the floors are marked with directional arrows to ensure social/physical distancing... but instead they're walking all over, ignoring all the signs and directional arrows and kids running everywhere touching everything (and everyone!). I don't know how they were immune to the glares from every other person.. they were just in their own world without a care for anyone! ..or one of my grocery store trips... there was a careful and distanced line of people waiting to check out a freezer bin of whatever was on sale, perhaps 3 or 4 people in front of me. Everyone was patient and just considerate, until another person just came walking past everyone and even pushed an elderly ladies cart (which she was holding!) to just barge in and touch, like everything, grab one package of something and walk back in the wrong direction past all the deathly glares, again without a care in the world for anyone else's safety. These people just make the world a worse place by being in it...
Def not alone... but even more specifically they need the right vaccine for us. Pooka can't take any live vaccine and by proximity neither should I so we're looking for something even more specific... but with all the best scientists and doctors in the world working on it there has to be something in the works that will pan out!
ah, well, on a happier note, I wonder if we have enough leather to make something nice like a new set of moccasins or a possibles pouch. I really really need to be getting back to my crafty roots! ..and I was thinking about your junk books just the other day Hedge! I've been tossing a lot of old junk out of our backrooms and I started to disassemble some old board games that are not worth even giving away, but I've been saving boards and pieces for making my own notebooks, (-8 ...and I do love a change to browse a Micheals! I usually only get to one perhaps once or twice a year... but I love looking around, (-8 ..and buying candles on sale in the summer for the fall and winter... and drawing supplies for Pooka!

Stay safe everyone during these nutty times. Glad everyone is doing well though. We're still getting slammed at drive thru, but our dining room is supposed to be opening next week...so I've heard. Maybe that'll take some strain off of drive thru, but we'll see.
