She seems more lucid today, but we are keeping a much closer eye on her

*sigh* Last year is bleeding over into this year. My mother was back in the hospital last week. They found that she had an abscess and a mass in her colon. They sent her home on Friday with antibiotics. She went back into the hospital on Sunday and had emergency surgery to remove part of her colon. Then we got snowed in. Rasa is stuck at my parents' house with like one set of clothes and will be until Monday, making it more than a week, because of the roads. My mother is not recovering well, so she's being transferred to another hospital. Then she'll probably go back into skilled care. So, she's already been in the hospital again for two weeks, and she's still not well. Once she goes into skilled care, it will be probably another three weeks. But three weeks in skilled care didn't help her really last time. She came home and was still falling, to the point where she has a small fracture in her hip now. She's convinced that she cannot care for my dad any longer, and as she is currently I agree. But Rasa and I are just at a loss for what to do any longer with them. Assisted living would cost like $3K-$4K a month for ONE of them, and they both need help. We cannot move back in with them. All four of us would wind up in a mental institution just from the sheer amount of arguing. There are other complications as well, but I just don't feel up to typing it all out.

Just got a n email back from the major show I applied to. It was a rejection letter. I kinda knew but it still hurts, when you do what you can and it's still not enough.

I just needed to vent. It's nothing compared to someone else but it's also really just stuck me in the dumps.

My parents are finally out of their respective facilities, but apparently, my mom is no longer capable of being alone anymore. There was another report to APS this morning, and we were told about it while at Mom's doctor. Now, Retta and I are left making a rather difficult decision. My uncle is coming up for two weeks or so. That will give us that time to get things set up and in place. We're not sure what options we actually have right now. I've reached out to PVA. I've reached out to A Place for Mom. The VA social worker gave me those contacts. I'm a pretty resilient individual, but I'm reaching a breaking point. I'm not sure how much more I can take.

My heart cat Tobias Grimm passed away suddenly last night while I was at work. Cryptic had to message me and tell me that he seized in his sleep and they tried to get him breathing again but he passed in their arms within seconds. All we can guess is heart attack. He was 13. I'm pretty shocked and distraught about it because although he was a senior, he wasn't the oldest cat in our household (that title belongs to Shaman who will be 18 this year). And the day before he was perfectly normal, we had no signs that this was going to happen.

Just wanted to come post to explain why we might be scarce or may not chat much during the current event, we're both feeling pretty low and sad about this. Tobias was my cat but he was a charming, loving creature who loved to snuggle and get forehead kisses and we both cared about him. He had the loudest purr in the house. He really was larger than life and I'm going to miss him so, so much.

I hope he's taking it easy over the rainbow bridge </3

Thanks guys. It's been pretty rough, anytime I see a picture of him I get choked up. I'm just still in a state of disbelief. We'll miss this big hearted ball of fluff.

Just need to rant. One of the neighbors brought in this little tortico and then made her an indoor/outdoor cat. Now she has been abandoned based on the state she has been showing recently of being so skinny you could see her bones and her coat so thin. Today I was able to pick her up despite her usual skittish nature these days. She was in really really bad shape. We found out this weather recently combined with no shelter in the area resulted in the loss of her kittens. We called animal control since we had got her and we could not bear to see her continue in this state. So now we are waiting on them to arrive so she can get the help she so desperately needs.

Sang is in an absolute fury over how the state this cat is in as she was brought here as kitten/very young cat and to see her now is heartbreaking.

I just had to rant as this upsets me so much. Most of my cats in my life have been shelter cats, abandoned cats, or in a few cases feral kittens that were abandoned for being runts (looks at my now 20 pound cat that used to be the size of my hand). So I had to rant somewhere safe about this


ETA: Animal Control arrived and they were taking her straight to their vet to be treated and checked over. So she is getting the help she needs

Rasa and I may be a bit MIA for a while. We lost our father very suddenly this morning and are in the process of making arrangements for him and seeing to our mom.
