An early note: The Trials have not started yet. It will probably be happening somewhere around 5-6pm EST.
The Temple of Bastet The scent of heady incense is the first thing to hit your senses when you enter the temple to the cat goddess Bastet. Large, decorated pillars line the main room stretching to the ceiling high above which is also elaborately painted with hieroglyphic images of Bastet with many cats.
On pillows around the temple cats of varying types lounge about, some scamper and play chasing the myriad of cat toys that litter the floor. Golden bowls filled to the brim with the choicest treats are laid out for them. In the middle of the expansive temple room is an indoors fountain painted with images of cats, but instead of water it is magically enchanted to spray forth fresh cream from the mouths of bas relief cat heads.
At the back of the temple room stands a gigantic, golden statue of Bastet herself in her human bodied and cat headed form. The many light sconces and lamp lights nearly dance their radiance upon her.
Posted clearly were the rules of the Temple.Rules of the Temple~ Be kind to the cats ~ Keep yourself under control. Innuendo is your friend.  ~ No whining, don't make people feel bad for loosing ~ No editing contest posts for any reason (without permission) ~ No cheating... obviously, you will be expelled from the temple for doing so ~ Please do not bid more then you can afford (with the auctions) ~ No retracting bids ~ Payment for auctions are due within 24 hours ~ For timed contests and auctions the end time of the auction is the the very last possible second on the minuted posted. ~ If you win a Sphinx or job upgrade please PM the Mr. Pooka account within one week with your cert info or it will go back into the giveaway pool. |

 Sahret paces like a caged tiger as the doorway opened. The energy in the air was electric, she loved these trials and relished the fight with the potential priestesses. To become a priestess a sphinx must defeat her in combat and be the last one standing. It was a challenge that she faced each year, fighting many until her muscles and wounds nearly took her.
She smiled from behind her mask with excitement as the potentials entered the temple.Sahret: Ii-wy em Hotep. Welcome friends to the temple of Bastet. *she eyed the prospects, sizing them up for the fight* This is the thirteenth year of ritual combat to join the ranks of the warrior priestesses. We honor Bastet's more ferocious side in her battle against Set. For those of you who wish to participate in the ritual combat to become a masked warrior priestess, I shall momentarily ask you to dedicate yourself to the combat.If you have fought me in combat for three years in a row, show me proof of your devotion and I shall make you a masked priestess due to your tenacity. Determination makes for a great warrior. ((Ie. if you have participated in the contest for three years in a row, including this one, you may PM sphinxes with proof of your entries with links to pages with their first combat entry. (Not just signing up, the sphinx has to be there for at least the first round of the combat) they will gain the job upgrade to priestess of Bastet.)) Contest to become a Masked PriestessOOC: How the game will go. Basically each round of combat will be played much like 'rock-paper-scissors' but will instead be 'swat-claw-rake' swat = rock (beats rake)
claw = paper (beats swat)
rake = scissors (beats claw)
tie = Sahret winsI will use the dice roller to see which option Sahret uses. All of the entrants who are still standing will attack Sahret at once. When Sahret gives the word to attack her, you have 5 minutes to post your attack choice in bold. If you don't post by that time you are out. RP descriptions of the sphinx's attack is cool, but not necessary. The winners of the first round will be able to face Sahret into the second round... but then a new trick will be added. She's not going to take it so easy on you the second time around. Winners of the second round get to enter the third round, etc. Entrants for this year...Menhit (AoM) Kiyarah (SanguineDragon) Hasina (PhoenixStardancer) Neferu (Operetta) Nehkbet (Wolfrysk) Nubiti (Tierasa) Thana (Rayvin Kittiy) Nile (Cameron) Shizuka (Kaats) For the priestess upgrade it will be the base class outfit. I am happy to do some simple re-colour swipes and will do my best to keep special hair if it fits (most should). The winner also receives a semi-custom cat. |

Meow!Priestess Trials! Last year, icy snow rained down on her Heb~Bastet, yuck... but this year only well dressed men came down from the sky!!! Hallelujah, Praises Bastet! Her prayers were being answered!
...admittedly she was quite a bit behind in her priestess trials, but really, have you been watching all the exotic and well traveled males running here and there across town? Selene IV had...
Lets make this year short and sweet! Now back to the Priestess Trials! This contest is open to any female Egyptian Sphinx from peasant to princess! In order to enter this contest you must make a dramatic entry post for the Sphinx who would like to try out for these upgrades in this thread along with their image! This entry post is a prerequisite in order to participate in this contest and you must make a new post, even if you'd made an RP post already in this thread for other contests!The Game of Risk!Make a post in this thread containing as many male Sphinxes (that you own) that you are willing to risk to enter this contest along with the code word RISKS! All of these posts must be made between now and the end of Friday June 12. After this time limit everyone will be entered into a draw with each male counting as one ticket. I will use a random list and the winner will be the person on the top of the list. Both the winner and the person on the Bottom of the list (ignoring doubles) will FORFEIT their males to Selene IV permanently! The winner of this contest will get a Priestess of Bastet upgrade for their entry Sphinx!

 Sati entered the main area of the temple with Ani and Ita right behind her. While she knew the trials would not be starting soon, she was eager to see those that would try. She took her duties to her goddess seriously, and she hoped that the new initiate would as well. She made herself comfortable on a nearby cushion and alternately petted her two cats who were enjoying a bowl of cream that had been left out. |

  Caena and Oconee come padding into the temple, twittering and giggling amongst them as they wait for their sister Sahret to hold the yearly warrior trials again. They were always so intense. |

 Menhit had heard the temple was open and decided to make her way over. She had figured over the years this life of being an assassin wasn't fitting her much anymore. Perhaps a change would be worth it. While she had been brought up in a warrior's home, she wanted a change of pace and after sleeping on it, she wanted her chance at being a Priestess. Seeing the other hopefuls, she nodded to each and awaited. Of course she left her weapons at home, no need for them in the temple. |

  Amass wandered into the temple with Ahnye by his side. He often visited this place given several of his beloved wives were priestesses in service to Bastet. He always made a point to come by more often as long as his duties allowed during the festival, but especially made sure to do so during the trials as it was an exciting time for the temple and therefor for his wives. He nuzzled Ahnye lightly then looked around. Spotting Oconee, he smiled and walked toward her with Ahnye still by his side. "Hello, my darling." He greeted Oconee and leaned in to nuzzle her. |

 Zekora walked into the temple and stood head up and surveyed the hopefuls that began filtering in. She hoped for their sakes they were as quick in movement as they believed they were. She already had scars from her trials. It had taken her 3 tried to make it. She had prayed and plead with Bastet to accept her devotion. Finally, She had been accepted and she could Do as her heart had led her. Now she would watch these hopefulls as they tried to do what they had all hoped. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Bubbles bounded in and giggles as she danced around the room greeting everyone. She smiled and made sure she gave each and every kitty her attention. She even made sure to help put out tasty treats fro the crowd. She loved these intense moments. First there was the warriors. She loved to watch the intense battles. Then there were the parades of boys to join her sisterhood of fine priestesses. She loved seeing the handsome vict.... tributes. They were all so handsome. She would so be happy to take a few home herself. |

 As one of the newest members of the temple, Aurera was looking forward to seeing the who would be joining their ranks this year. This would be her first time seeing the trials for the warrior priestess hopefuls. She'd heard stories of course, but to see them in person would be a unique experience. |

 Aziza wandered in following some of her sister wives. She loved watching the festivities. She quietly sat with her husband and sister wives to watch and see what happened. She had always loved the action of the trials. though she was never one to be brave enough for such a thing. |

Sahret was pleased with the interest that was already showing for her trials, Bastet would be pleased. She stopped her pacing to step up upon the side of the large fountain to address the female sphinxes."Bastet is pleased with those who wish to become a warrior priestess to combat her enemies. Today she will take another warrior priestess as one of her children, but to become a warrior priestess you must prove yourself in battle... against me." The head warrior priestess called out in a clear voice. "For those of you who wish to enter the trial to become a priestess step forward and proclaim: "Today I bring forth my battle skills for Bastet to judge!" I shall take entrants for the next hour. After that we shall begin the ritual combat. ((OOC: Ie. Post the normal posed, female, Egyptian sphinx who is trying to become a priestess of Bastet with that phrase in bold. RP notes are not only fine, but appreciated since they add the right feel to the thread. ^_^ You have until one hour after this post to enter.
