I've heard a lot about ACOTAR and watched some rant reviews about it, lol! The characters aren't really for me. I am too busy over here writing about my own feisty supernatural couples, but y'know. x'D Friends read it and loved it but what I've heard of the writing isn't my favorite thing in the world, and I think I'm turned off by *everything* romance getting compared to it these days.
I haven't been able to read for a while due to depression-brain, but I do enjoy watching booktubers review books! I'd like to think it helps me strengthen my own writing a little bit. And hopefully someday my ability to read will return from the war.

...and I'm starting to make mistakes so, time for some reading, (-8

For anyone curious. My tomato plant is still producing. I even found little maters on it today!

This year I tried to make a concerted effort to read more nonfiction (who am I even these days!?) as much as I can. Safe to say, I think I was pretty successful in that reading challenge... but am I really all the more wiser with my new found real life knowledge? Only time will tell xD

Not me over here plotting a mini-bookshelf idea if we did a Sphinx community reading club.
Nope nope nope.

I can't remember the last time I read a book. I have the attention span of a five-year-old.

I think I misread a grammar thing Arcane and first thought you were sharing your writing, but you meant your friends read ACOTAR, (-8 Feisty supernatural couples are one of my brainfood groups!
I also make a point of trying to watch or listen to various media in the zeitgeist... the whole world has become 'the watercooler' so I like to get the references and participate in the now... though idk if I'd put the time in towards reading a novel that I had no interest in these days as I feel my own time is more precious. It's easy to watch a movie or a few episodes of a show or listen to an album to keep up, but also it does expose me to things I probably would have skipped but sometimes really enjoy!
I wish I had the patience or drive to collate my own writing into proper stories or RPGs... Just converting my thoughts into some form of Media would be easily in my top 5 superpowers wishes, (-8
I've read precious little nonfiction Sio... at least when it comes to novels and stories. (I don't think I'd count instructions and manuals and such... cuz I read technical stuff and cooking books all the time, (-8) ...now the few I have read I did really enjoy but it's been a while... I think the last one I read was Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which sounds like a manual but it is not, (-8 Oh, now that I think of it, I used to love reading older biographies. Like world adventurers and wilderness people of the 1800s and such when I was younger! Go back 100 years and it starts to feel like fiction as you are transported with a whole different world!
Unfortunately we had to leave a few (1000s and 1000s) of books behind when we moved into the apartment, but still there is a bookshelf in every direction I can see atm, plus more piles in the storage closet! At least what we do have is distilled awesomeness, (-8 A few shelves are packed two or three rows deep atm as well...
I wonder if anyone has a good idea about how we could pick a book to get started? Many of us are fairly well read, but there seems to be a strong fantasy theme popping up... (one reply for Sardine conversation and two pages for sexy fairy romance conversation, (-8). Something classic or something new? Maybe some nominations until we get a high level of interest or consideration?

I used to devour novels... like 2-4 a week. I'd read so many I had to start writing my own notes in the front covers to remember them, (-8 Every paycheck also meant a trip to the used bookstore (and the comic store!) to get a new bag full and see what they had...
Oooo, here's an interesting history note for young people... it was hard to find a whole series of used books before the internet! I had my name on at least two different books store lists to get a call if a certain book from a certain series came in, (-8 ...no google, no ebay, just perseverance and a desire to hunt them all down, (-8
My reading did slow for many years there though... I think that maybe the internet devours my reading time... but I like getting back into fun fantasy the last few years, (-8

For anyone curious. My tomato plant is still producing. I even found little maters on it today! and I forgot to mention I'm happy your tomatoes survived the frost! (-8 I could actually go for some fried green tomatoes, though it's virtually impossible to find them in a shop... At the apartments we live in there's a spot where you can reserve a garden (just a block away, diff building same owners) and I'd almost thought about getting a spot last spring but wasn't sure how much I'd use it? ...but I regretted not applying all summer and think I might give it a go next year, (-8 I've got an endless appetite for zucchini especially....

Yeah all three of my shelves are stacked up. Books on top of books in front of books. XD The last one I finished was "The Darkness Within Us" by Tricia Levenseller last month.

If I could have gotten those same friends to read my writing, that would have been a dream come true tbh! X'D But that would also require me to finish.... writing something for once... oop-
I keep telling myself my new years' resolution is to get back into reading. A friend has even written a couple novels that I need to read and I really want to, and I enjoy reading once I force myself to DO it but that's the hard part, actually getting myself to feel motivated to do the darn thing. Picking up a book seems impossible for some reason. ;_; I really miss it!

I find reading digital books so much easier, but I LOVE physical books. I check the digital ones out from the library and then decide if it's worth purchasing.

I read mostly digital books as well these days, mainly for the convivence, but also love the feel of holding a real book! (also, maybe weird, but I love the smell of books...) ...and there's so many older books that are free online as well, like on Project Gutenberg or some of the many free libraries that seem to come and go.

I love walking into a bookstore or library and smelling the paper and ink. Retta and I like to look at houseplans and we always have to ask ourselves "Where are the books going?" XD
